Donuts are all the rage now in Chicago, with Stans taking over Chicago & Do-Rite not doing too shabby either. Firecakes & Do-Rite offer more creative flavors, though Firecakes has ice cream donut sandwiches & a huge glazed donut. My only gripe is that they only offer 1 vegan flavored donut that doesnt rotate: double chocolate coconut. Even before going vegan, I wasnt a fan of chocolate, so Im disappointed. Plus, the price is significantly higher than that of the regular dairy-laden donuts they have. Otherwise, this is a charming little shop that seats less than 10 guests.

I love Firecakes, seriously the best donuts in town. But going to the original on Hubbard in downtown is exhausting sometimes. So when they opened a Wrigleyville location, I was psyched! Yeah, its still tricky to park, but its sandwiched between Wrigley Field and Lincoln Park, it is what it is. Its always worth it though, with always freshly baked, decadent donuts, with a great variety, among seasonal offerings. The price is between $2-3 for a donut, but once you try one, youll realize its well worth the money, Im just saying.

Its my new Saturday morning ritual - a rotation between Chocolate Hazelnut Longjohn, Butterscotch Praline, whatever Fruit Fritter they happened to make, Old Fashioned Buttermilk; and you know theyre making them right there, behind that swinging door abuzz with activity... all washed down with I believe La Colombe coffee. Not considering police duties yet! :)

Not a huge donut fan, but my 4 yr old daughter and I stopped in to get her a treat. Some of what they had on offer looked really good. My daughter immediately gravitated to the sprinkles donut, natch. The frosting was a hit, but the cake of the donut was not. I had a tasty shot of espresso. Wed probably go in again if were in the area.

My fiance and I went on a hunt for the best donuts in this city and these are it. Firecakes is worth every penny. Every donut is so good. Our favorites are: The buttermilk old fashion, orange poppyseed old fashion, triple chocolate coconut, strawberry mascarpone and malted milk ball. But really though.. everyone of them are delicious.

Would have given more stars but the lady with short dark hair that served me was a rude a** . Havent tried my donuts yet. But hoping to give this pace a chance. The cashier was a little more pleasant. Heres a tip.. Smile & make your guest feel welcome

I love donuts and am a big fan of the donut scene in Chicago! This was my first time trying Firecakes and I really liked it! Got the PB&J donut and the coconut cream donut. Both were very cute. Cute ambiance. Place is kind of small but cute inside.

I like this location better than the one in River North. It had seating space, which makes it perfect for a weekend sweet breakfast. Their bacon donut is very good. During the warmer months they have outside seating space which is very nice.

These donuts were delicious! I had honey glazed and a classic cake donut and I can still taste them writing about them right now. The shop is small, but quaint. The girl behind the counter when I visited was almost unbelievably cheerful.

This is the 2nd time as we arrived in the neighborhood early for an appt. The Orange Poppyseed Old Fashion is to die for. Mike got a traditional sprinkle and chocolate. These are honestly the best donuts we have ever had.

Fantastic vegan donut. It was double chocolate coconut and it tasted so moist and fudgy despite being gluten free as well! Only reason for 4 stars is it cost $4 for a small donut. Great quality, but high prices.

Firecakes is decent. Over priced for mediocre doughnuts. Service is okay. Coffee is bad. Might as well walk another block and go to Starbucks or Caffè Vienna! They also never have the donut ice cream sandwich.

Really nothing special. Id rather go out of my way to get Stans or Do Rite than eat Firecakes even if it was close, but lets be fair it is a donut and they have some creative options. Just wasnt satisfying.

Firecakes isnt your typical donut place. You may pay a little more, but the donuts are fresh, large, and deliciously flavored. Their staff is SUPER friendly and their coffee is better than average.

GREAT DONUTS. I had an Irish Cream donut during the St. Pattys day weekend and it was AMAZING. This place is right by my apartment and I go here TOO often...

Delicious donuts with unique twist. Peanut butter and jelly filled donut and the Tahitian vanilla are probably the most popular.

Great little donut shop that stays open late. Wide variety, all of which are delicious. One of the best in the whole city.

Good choice, a Chicago staple. The seasonal Peach Fritter was great and crispy. The mini maple bacon was tasty as well.

Hands down best doughnuts Ive had in the city. Ice cream sandwich might sound like a gimmick, but believe me, its legit.
