Ever since I moved to Chicago, I have been obsessed with Mexican cuisine because of Rick Bayless. I always enjoy going to his restaurants and try out all the creative foods that he created. I have to admit I staple all the ingredients that I find at Jewel Osco and it usually does the job. However, the more obscure ingredients can only be found at grocery stores like this one! This place is a hidden gem for all your Mexican/Latin American cooking needs. My impression is that the produce and meats are FRESH and CHEAP! I will have to go back and explore a bit more. Hopefully, I will have an update. Overall, great value, hidden gem, fresh!

I really dont get why this place is so popular. The tacos arent that good in my opinion. The meat isnt even seasoned well enough. Every time I buy tacos for carry out, they are always very greasy, and all the oil just drips out of the taco (its disgusting.) If you want to try some really good tacos and burritos, go to La Carneceria Leon. They have way better tasting tacos. They even make Piquatidas.

A double-whammy for supermarket and restaurant. Like many a Mexican store, Guanajuato also has a kitchen with a small seating area. They have everything from tacos to tortas, burritos and agua de horchata. The prices are completely reasonable, though the line could get pretty long. Service is quick, so it all moves fast. Im a fan of their chorizo and pastor meats.

Im hesitant to write a review about this place because I want it to stay among the few hidden gems in Wicker Park, BUT, this place has the best tacos in my neighborhood by far. The line can get fairly long during peak lunch hours on the weekends (I havent been during the week though Id assume its fairly crowded then too). Get the jamaica!

By far one of the best tacos Ive ever had. I went there about 10 years ago and kinda forgot about it. I just went back today and was pleased to see they had renovated the eating area. It was nice and relaxing... Almost made me feel like I wasnt in Chicago. The tacos were absolutely amazing. I highly recommend checking it out.

The best tacos around the noble square / west town area. Its hidden away in a Mexican grocery store so its perfect. The carne asada tacos and tortas are the absolute best. The chicken is good too but just cant compare to the flavor of that grilled steak. Get a horchata or real Mexican coke with cane sugar while there too!

The best part of this place is that you do your grocery shopping and then get some legit, cheap Mexican food from there right after. Plenty of fresh cooked and stewed meats to rival that of your nearest taqueria, and cheaper. Theyre located in a butcher shop and so youre guaranteed freshness.

This is in regards to the meat department; orders some milanesa de res looked dark and grey which isnt normal. However 1st time ordering here figured it was just prepared differently. It tasted awful and was hard to chew. Made my son throw up. Very weary of the meat department.

A small grocery store with some of the best tacos, they are always loaded, perfectly cooked and finely chopped steak! No matter how hungry you are ways start with 2 and youll be amaze. Need some grocery shopping this is the place as well. Try the steak,lengua and carnitas.

great experience. food is not too pricey, and still very delicious. I came here instead of Chipotle and I was not disappointed. My gf didnt want to come, but we went anyway, and now she wants to go back after just 1 day. So you could say I picked a winner. 5/5 stars

Tacos!! Its all about the tacos here at this Mexican foods grocery and produce store. The taco dinning area is being expanded and nearly finished but lunchtime is obviously the busiest time to visit. If you have the time definitely worth waiting for.

Great burritos and taco inside the restaurant part of the store. They staff doesnt really speak English so if you dont know Spanish and want to order something complicated you will have problems. Regardless I go here once a week and love it.
