So the real deal is I lack superior credit however a bigger car for my children and I is a dire necessity. Big dealerships are quite intimidating to me... From my experience at a Nissan dealership, I was quite perplexed about going into another dealership. Thanks to the majority of positive reviews for Toyota of Union City on Google and a huge advertisement about the rent to own program, I decided to call to get information. I called early this past Saturday and spoke with Latoya. I will admit she was very nice and persuasive about getting me to come in and explore options. She booked me with a gentleman by the name of Shakeem (probably spelled wrong) for a 2pm appointment. Out of respect for my salesman time, I gathered my children, the documents I were asked to bring and headed south. I arrived early. Immediately I was greeted with confusion because Shakeem wasnt aware of our appointment. To be fair, it was quite busy... So I was patient in waiting about 20mins into my appointment to speak with Shakeem who was obviously working away at making his sales. When I finally was invited to sit with him, he made it clear the busyness of the day and how I wouldnt have his undivided attention... To speed things up, he went on to try to pass me off to another salesmen to run a credit app on me immediately... No questions on what I was interesting in or nada. Before proceeding I made it clear I wanted information about the rent to own program... As if there was a sign of relief, he quickly told me I was suppose to meet with another sales person and escorted me over to the RTO reps. Tammy did my intake, she was pleasant, direct and honest. She took my information and went forth with passing it over to Mr. Edd Green. Mr. Green explained my options of being in the RTO (which unless you are severely devastated in credit, I wouldnt recommend) vs. direct financing. He assured me he would work something out considering they work with 36 banks. I consented with the financing and as you may know the "waiting game" begun with responses from the banks. In total I waited about an hour for Mr. Green to return to me with a response stating I needed a co-signer. He claim he tried 4 banks and they all wanted co-signers. Overall my credit was fair with decent payment history of current credit however student loans were hurting my score. We tried a co-signer but the co-signer had a newly purchased car so that was a no go. My optimism was crushed but I retained a beacon of hope with Mr. Green sending me off telling me he would work on some other options for me; "not to give up" he would reach out to me by 11am Monday. I wanted to believe he was geniuine and wasnt politely dismissing my anxious children, poor credit and I right on out the door. Needless to say Monday came and I followed up. Mr. Green blamed Monday meetings for his failure to call back but he was going to start working on my purchase. Its almost a week later and I guess Monday meetings turned into daily meetings... Not even a call to say "I tried these options but Im sorry". Im not so much frustrated about the denial because I was aware of my credit, I was opened and honest with my information. I guess the part that bothers me is the falsified hope that is portrayed to get your information then the real rejection that takes place once they feel you arent an easy sale or guaranteed commission. I wouldnt say not to buy a car from them, I would just say people with bruised credit... Potential bruising of your hope may follow after visiting Toyota of Union City

My sales representative Key Inoma (Ikenna Inoma ) did a excellent job with helping me obtain my vehicle from Toyota of Union City. Key was very tentative, friendly, talkative and thoughtful in helping me get through process of not only purchasing my new car but also determine which car is the best for me. So the question is why did I give it one story well the main problem begins when you walk through the door. I had a 11 am appointment with Mr. Inoma and when I spoke with the Director of First Impressions (The Front Desk Lady) she couldnt give me no answers whatsoever on how I could get in tough with Key. Matter of fact she utterly wordless and she began to ignore me. I had to go to the service department and request assistance and it was later determined that the Sales Representatives for Toyota of Union City was in a urgent meeting. After purchasing the car 2 problems occurred the first problem was that I purchased it had only 5 miles on it when the staff took it to get a full tank of gas it had 18 miles on it and there are plenty of gas stations within less than 2 miles from this company. Okay the second problem was that upon receiving my car, it was dirty Im talking about from the inside to the outside. I had them to go back and clean my car I felt totally disrespected about receiving a filthy brand new car! I purchased a warranty with Toyota of Union City and almost 2 months later I cancelled my warranty. However, Toyota of Union City never sent me any proper documents to prove it has been cancelled. So I began a long and lengthy process of calling the company to verify my cancellation. But upon calling the secretary she couldnt never tell me which department dealt with the warranty cancellation. She kept transferring me to different departments on a daily basis or she might even hangup the phone in my face! And that happened like over 20 times! After 3 months of the run around, I decided to make a personal visit to this location. I had requested to speak to a manager, with the same clueless secretary that I normally had to deal with she went to the back and spoke with someone. After almost 2 hours later I had to request to speak to the manager again and finally some guy came out and spoke with me apologize to me and went to speak with someone in the finance department. After 45mins of waiting another manager noticed me sitting in that lobby for almost 3hours! he spoke with me and went to the back and got someone from the finance department to speak with me. And after 5minutes there I have it they couldve easily pulled up my warranty cancellation policy. Need I say that I did manage to speak with someone from the finance department who told me they dont have access to that information in their system and this was coming from Director of Finance herself! BOY IF I WAS YOU GUYS I WOULD AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. ITS WAY TOO MANY SCREW UPS WORKING FOR THAT COMPANY AND MANAGEMENT DOES NOT BELIEVE IN ACCOUNTABILITY WHATSOEVER!!!!! Other than that I would it hard to believe such a establishment has such high reviews with so many incompetent employees!

They pulled my credit without my authorization. Last Sept was my first time in the car buyers market. I thought I was armed with good knowledge on what to expect and exactly what I needed. I had an appt set but was approached by a salesman named Shakeem. I told him that I would be financed through my credit union and just wanted to check out inventory. He stated that before I could do so I needed to "complete my profile." So I did. I did not leave my signature on what appeared to be a interest card, and I also left off my social security number. Mind you, he covered up the Heading on the card, which I had not realized until I got home. So he asked for my social and I shouldve protested but did not because he insisted that it was just for my profile. So I told him and he wrote it in on the card himself. Minutes later he comes back and states that I could have any car I wanted. I asked him how he knew this information and he said that he found out through my profile. I asked him if he pulled my credit and he stated, "NO, I DID NOT, I WOULD NEVER DO THAT WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT." Long story short, I shared the exciting news with my parents and they told me to check my credit report, low and behold there was a hard inquiry that knocked my perfect score down by about 16 points. The problem was that I did not apply for any financing and DID NOT CONSENT to having my report pulled. When I called the store the same day, the general manager by the name of either Bill or Jim was very rude and asked if I was applying for financing, I let him know that I had not and there was no form I signed in regards to financing. After putting me on hold several times to check, he ended the call. I tried calling back several times throughout the week to get in touch with him and would leave messages and he never got back in touch with me. I then went to the BBB and he attached a letter stating that my report was pulled in error but NEVER SENT IT TO MY CREDIT BUREAUS LIKE I REQUESTED. Its almost a year later and my credit bureaus stated that they have access to a portal where they can list that my report was pulled in error and they still have not done so, even after I contacted the BBB for the second time this past January. I now have to wait until 2017 to have it removed from my report, and I did not end up buying a car after being pre-approved at my credit union. THEY ARE THE WORST, and had made my car buying experience a nightmare. But I learned a valuable lesson and Im glad. However, THEY SHOULD BE PENALIZED FOR THIS TYPE OF FRAUDULENT PRACTICE WITH POTENTIAL BUYERS. I wish I couldve really sued them or something, but Im at a stand still and dont know what to do next.
