On 10/24/10 my wife and I went to get some groceries to this place and inside the store there was an advertised on-sale item "Salsa La Costeña - ALL FLAVORS from $2.29 to $1.29 p/item". When the cashier scanned these items, the price was ringed at $2.29 so I told him that the item was on sale at $1.29. The cashier asked a person for a price check and the guy came back with the same price, so I told him that the advertised sale was at $1.29 per item for all flavors; there were no singled out items. Him and I went to check the item and he insisted that the item I wanted to buy was not on sale, but remember the sign read: "ALL FLAVORS". So the guy was so upset that he went back to the front of the store where my wife and kids were waiting and he told the cashier "Cancel the transaction, and you lady -Get the hell out of here". The reason why I was left behind its because I was taking some pictures as proof that I was correct, so when I went back to check on my wife and kids the guy was already yelling at them, and my kids were already crying. I then urged my wife and kids to wait outside while I resolved the issue with this person. As I entered the store once again, I asked an employee for the manager, and he pointed to the same guy that yelled at my wife and kids. I politely asked him the reason for that and he didnt offer any apology but the same response in a very mean and aggressive tone of voice: "I dont want to talk to you, so get the hell out of here". To my surprise I was trying to reason with him, but he also called the police inside the store. The cop and I talked outside, and after I explained to him the issue, he urged me to file my complaint with the BBB. Im only writing here my own experience, so buyers beware: 1- The store was slamming the prices on a couple of items, but who knows how if the store slamming more products. 2- Lack of customer service. If I were to be running a store I would encourage the customer to buy somewhere else, not with the profane words "GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE". 3- Racist and/or profiling against females. Once I talked with the cop, he also said that this is a male from Asia which he thinks females are not in the same level as males, and that he has seen that kind of treatment against female workers. To all of you ladies out there, do you want to support a store of this kind?.... YOUR CALL. I would love to share my pictures to proof that this guy was in fact slamming customers with false advertising.

Although I could do without the sometimes rude shoppers, this market has a little bit of everything. Especially since my most favorite market is so much further away (an hour plus as opposed to 30-40 mins), I enjoy making my trips here! The prices also seem to be better or about the same as my hour away market. As far as the produce being fresh, many times farmers market produce use less pesticides and "life-lengtheners" than the farmers markets. The whole point of the farmers market is to have fresh fruits and veggies more readily available so that people can go and purchase grapes once a week, fish twice a week, etc. A farmers market shouldnt be a place where you shop to stock up on produce that you plan to use in a few weeks. If youre looking for produce that lasts forever, then you are also looking for more chemicals and produce that was picked well before it was ripe. Produce that is picked before its peak is often not as sweet or not as flavorful to its know taste. People who have farms will only harvest what they plan to eat for that time, what they plan to cook for a period of time or what they can sell in a period of time. Farmers markets are for fresh. Wish we had more!

I had a similar experience with one of the reviewers with the manager of the store. This man is a very hostile towards customers and towards his employees. One day while shopping in the store (which I will no longer do. I generally only go there to purchase dried good from the ethnic food section since the produce quality is always near rotting condition and the meat and seafood are always leaking, dripping, and close to rotting) the manager of the store yelled at one of his employees in front of many customers, belittling her. I felt terrible for the young woman who was humiliated. I will no longer shop at this store based on the treatment of the employee. Many of the employees are recent immigrants or young people who need the job. They are unable to advocate for themselves or are unaware of their rights as employees. The manager takes advantage of his position and treats not only his customers poorly, he verbally abuses his employees.

Its not the best farmers/international market in the metro Atlanta area, but its the closest one to me and one of the few places like it on the west side so I go there a lot. Theres a decent variety of produce but sometimes its half rotted and not so fresh. You have to be picky with the produce but overall that is where I get most of my produce. The fish market never has any fresh salmon, which is annoying, but they have a decent selection of everything else. I usually get my seafood and meat here - since theres a pretty high turnaround, its fresh. I also get the hard to find ethnic foods here, my spices, sauces, noodles, rices, etc. I do not buy any american foods or dairy or deli items because its way more expensive than a regular grocery store. I feel like this farmers market could be truly great with a little more effort but since they are unique in the area, they have no real competition to do better.

GREAT EXOTIC SELECTION AND OKEY PRICES, BUT VERY POOR SERVICE. Prices for some products are great - but for others, you can do better elsewhere. Theyve improved the store. It seems cleaner and you can find just about anything... ...BUT...the customer service is horrible. I was just there and asked 4 different people for help finding an item. The first guy ignored me until I asked a second time. Then he would not make eye contact. I was bothering him, I guess. The customer service person wasnt sure and sent me off on a wild goose chase. The third answered "I dunno...try aisle 5 or aisle 8." and the cashier referred me back to customers service. None of them smiled and none of them offered to help me locate the item. The store is very convenient to me (closest to my house), but this kind of experience is exactly the reason I drive out of my way to go elsewhere unless I need something exotic.

Ok... This place is not Publix or Whole Foods, when it comes to customer service as some of the other reviews have indicated BUT.... The produce section is AMAZING, FRESH & CHEAP! Its food lovers play ground. I feel like I could wonder around in the place for hours (or until my wife drags me out,) So many new and interesting things to try. It actually reminds me of those amazing outdoor markets you find in other countries where you find REAL fresh food. A little rough around the edges, but its the type of place a chef would find appealing.
