I went to Decatur Bikes to purchase my first road bike in a very long time at the recommendation of several people. I had been riding my hybrid bike for several years but was training for longer distances and ready to transition to a road bike. Mike was so helpful in showing me and educating me to the different types of road bikes, and together we determined the right bike for me. They didnt have a comparable bike in the store for me to test ride, but an order was placed and the bike was assembled and ready for me to ride in less than a week. I came in for a professional fitting by Dave (bike fit certified)and was in the store for 2 hours working with him and his wife Tammy to make sure that the bike was perfect for me and that all my questions were answered. I cannot say enough about the personalized attention that I received and the knowledge that everyone in the store has. They are genuinely passionate about the sport (triathlons too) and want nothing more than to make their customers feel good about their purchase. I love the fact that they are a smaller bike shop and they even offer free lifetime maintenance and tune-ups on a bike that you purchase from there. Not sure you can get that anywhere else. I would highly recommend anyone to check this little shop out.

I went hear a couple of years ago and got great service on my first and every visit. They took the time to explain every product I asked about. Ive bought different Tri and Road bike equipment. The prices for services are exceptional and Id argue cant be beat (Ive been to 6 or 7 different bike and tri stores around town many times in the past). They did a fit for my bike that saved me a ton of money. Other stores wanted to charge me the standard $199 or so, but I just wanted a quick look to see if I was off on my own calibrations. The owner spent 30 minutes at least to go over everything and only charged me like $25 I think. It was as steal for his expertise... now I dont think thats the standard price theyd charge... but my point is they work with you to compromise and legitately try to save you money. Another time I came in there after trying to get my cable fished out from the lever (I was attempting to route my own cables and couldnt finish the job). The other stores suggested buying new levers, but Decatur Bike saved me a bunch and eventually fished out the cable. So I didnt have to buy new Ultegra levers. And they charged a very reasonable amount for the job. Cant recommend this place enough.

Im a COMPLETE novice to cycling, but felt really good here. I didnt want to leave my new (for me) bike for a tuneup, but after 3 phone calls I realize this place is no different than the rest when the weather gets warm. But I was greeted quickly, and the guys that worked there did a great job of explaining and recommending. I didnt see the reviews until after my service. As bad as they read on Google, they are just to opposite on yellp. Still, I personally didnt experience anything like what the last three folks complained about, and based on the traffic that was there, SOMEBODY besides me has had good experiences there. DB seems to have a pretty good selection of bicycles of all types, and most things you would NEED, but not a huge amount of inventory on the floor. I wonder these days how a small shop can compete with the internet and places like Performance, but these guys have been here for a number of years. If you are looking for a place that doesnt prey on women and non-racers, Id recommend this place in a heartbeat.

I took our two mountain bikes into this shop for tune ups and the replacement of rusty cables. The were friendly when we checked in. We went over the scope of the work, I showed them our Groupon print-out, and they were cool about it. They said it would take about a week. One week later, right on time, we were called to pick up our bikes. From what I could tell, they maybe sprayed WD40 on my bike. They did NOTHING close to a tune up. There was even crud still caked on the gears from my last ride. The rust I asked them to try and scrape off wasnt touched. The cables I asked them to replace? Not done. A young guy with glasses who worked there shrugged and told me that my bikes cables werent on the work order, just my wifes. Then he just stared at me, obviously praying I would leave. Maybe it was the Groupon, or maybe theyre just lazy focks. I was not happy with the work, or the service. Decatur Bikes is lame. Take your business elsewhere.

I took an older European bike in to have it fixed and after about a week they call. I get there, pay the roughly $100 charge then they bring the bike out. The back tire wasnt attached at all and they lost the axle nut (which turned out to be a specialty item that I spent a whole day online and in person trying to identify and find) and the electrical wires that powered the front and rear lights were disconnected and missing some hardware. What really irritated me was that they showed no sympathy or regret for their screw up and didnt offer to compensate me for the mistakes until way after the fact. If its a simple issue on a modern bike, they can probably handle it but if they screw up, dont expect any ownership of the mistake.

These guys have no idea how to maintain bikes or provide decent customer service. I took my mountain bike in to get a new bottom bracket installed, first they ordered the wrong parts and it took several weeks for them to come in. I had to call to ask what was going on. Then when they went to take out my old bottom bracket and put in the new one the guy cross-threaded the bottom bracket! I got a call the next day. "Um, sorry we ruined your bike and we can not fix it. you can come pick it up if you want." WTF!?!?! No offer to replace or repair the damage. Just, heres your bike that we ruined, bai. It has taken several months for me to work up the nerve to write this. I was and continue to to be effin livid with these a-holes.

I went here after visit another near by bike shop. The service was much better, the employees were much more informative and helpful, but most importantly they were honest. They didnt take "10-15 days" to repair my bike like Bike South, it was done perfectly in 30 minutes at a great price. In my opinion this is the best bike shop in Decatur and I would recommend it to anyone.
