Let me preface this review by saying that I have been an Ulta Rewards Platinum member since college. Not only am I a member, but through my participation, my mother and sister are now members. I have just relocated here from Norfolk,VA. I am a traveling mentor teacher, which has afforded me to live up and down the East Cost, the South, and parts of the Midwest. Imagine my excitement when I saw that there was an Ulta less than five minutes from my new home. I was thrilled. I called right away to make an appointment. I use Ulta for about 80% of my beauty needs, and all of my salon needs. I have so many points, I am able to receive free styling tools and so forth...lets just say I spend a lot of money at Ulta. My excitement was short-lived. I called Ulta to make an appointment for color and a relaxer touch up. I have highly textured multicultural/biracial hair. I never in all of my years at Ulta had a problem having my hair styled. I also bring my daughter to Ulta. She has a courser grade of hair that reaches about 3 inches above her waist. She has a lot of hair. She get uses Ulta salon services. On the phone I was met by the most confused salon representative. I explained the services I wanted done and she said, "I dont know if we can do that here...I mean...we are all trained to that, but none of us really like to because its too much." I was shocked beyond belief. I used Ulta for my styling needs in Mississippi [a state that has never been the face of welcoming diversity], so I was floored that a place as progressive as Atlanta Metro would ever have this type of problem. I called today, Friday, after numerous attempts to schedule this appointment online, only to be denied. The store didnt call back after two days, so I tried to circumvent the situation and give them the benefit of the doubt. I did try an experiment of entering traditional "Caucasian" styles in the appointment scheduler for their store, and to my amazement I was given a plethora of available times. I was horrified. Ulta has always advertised and marketed to women of color. I was very disappointed at this display of "selective styling." After speaking with the store manager "Tarah" and her equally incompetent salon manager "Scott," I was thoroughly disgusted. The salon manager actually had the audacity to ask me what I wanted. I definitely will not patron this store, and as for Ulta, I reserve judgment until after I hear from their corporate offices. I always believed that to be a licensed cosmetologist, you have to be able and willing to service all types of textures of hair. I guess the staff at this salon missed a few courses. I wonder what the state board will think about my encounter. I am about to find out...Ill keep you posted.

This was my first ever visit to an Ulta store and I wont be back. I went in to do a color match because I have a hard time finding a foundation that isnt too yellow. An employee approached me and offered help, but made me aware that they do not do color matches on the brand that I wanted. She told me to go to Target to try them. Another employee then proceeded to talk about a bunch of stuff that didnt make much sense, and when I asked about another product, she led me to it and dropped me off. This location didnt have any of the products I planned to purchase and nobody offered to order or suggested a similar product. Its overwhelming when you go into a store like this, not really knowing what to expect, and the employees are supposed to be your guide. I was excited about the rewards program after looking online and had planned on ordering the products online, but I ended up getting the foundation from Target and the skin care products directly from manufacturer.

Visited the store last week and was surprised at how empty the shelves are. I walked around at least 15 minutes, was never asked by an associate if I needed help, even though 2 or 3 walked by and clearly saw me looking. I finally assumed they didnt have what I was looking for, but I did find something I was looking for on a clearance shelf. When I went to the checkout, I also had an item without a receipt. I received it as a gift. I asked the clerk if she could check and see if it was from there, and was promptly told no. She said she could check my Ulta rewards number, which I told her again that it was a gift and my number wasnt used. After I left, I checked their return policy without receipt, and their website says that they could have scanned to see if they carry the item, and a store credit could have been issued. I wont be going back to this location. The staff is clueless.

My husband and I were in Ulta @ the Buford location looking for a hair dryer...needless to say the service there was terrible! No one bothered to ask if we needed any help...besides us there were only two other customers in there. I found a hair dryer I wanted but it was not in stock..so we asked if someone could find out if there were any at other locations...the clerk said You can call and was generous enough to provide two phone numbers..we called and everyone was out of stock on the item..a clerk at another store suggested we purchase the test Dryer price was 44.99 other locations had it for 29.99. We asked and was told it was not sellable. The women were curt and clearly was not interested in us returning. As if they were doing us a favor? Plz! Will never shop at this location again!

I really should review this as 3 stars; just liked. The manager is somehow managed to forget she was confirming an item was on sale. I had already purchased and had to reenter the store to get it corrected. I should have been memorable. I was the only customer there. The other staff was friendly and helpful. Quite the usual one expects from Ulta. Just hope the manager doesnt have to help you. For some reason, cashiers arent allowed to do any refunds or returns. None. Every one must call for a manager. So they distrust all employees but managers? Interesting question.

I normally love Ulta stores. They have great prices and a full selection of beauty items. Although this location is convenient for me, I would prefer to drive to a different location due to the RUDE staff. Every single time Ive forced myself to go to this location I have regretted it. I would say 90% of the staff act like they are better than you and too busy to help you find anything. I guess they forgot they work in retail. If your able to avoid this location, I would. Save yourself from the bad attitudes at this Ulta location.

Left this store without making a purchase. Was never once asked if I needed help. Watched every white customer who walked in be greeted and watched every "other" customer who walked in be ignored. I finally asked where an item was located and the store associate acted as if I was a moron for asking a question. I put my bag down and walked out. I will take my business where it will be appreciated. My money is just as green as anyone elses.
