I’ve been coming to this store for many years. It’s a great place to rent a bike or get your own serviced. The owner is friendly, efficient and will go out of his way to help. Once when I turned up after closing time and needed pedals replaced he happily re-opened the shop and did the job at very low cost. Longboat Key is a terrific place to cycle with a 12-mile path and sub tropical parks. Ive rented cycles in places like London, Amsterdam and New York and definitely recommend Backyard Bikes. Backyard Bikes is great! They have been working on my old road bike for years now and always treat both of us very well. The shop is staffed by the owner & his son, and occasionally a friend filling in. They always seem happy to see me and are usually very prompt with repairs. My first visit involved a contribution to their collection of items that have caused flat tires - very interesting! Visiting with Lincoln and Sampson (their canine supervisors) is always a treat, so bring some along and make some new friends!
