Top notch selection of firearms and accessories. I purchase one or two firearms each year and have actually purchased two from this location. When they first opened on University they had competitive prices and good customer service. However in the past year and a half or so I have noticed that their prices have gone up and their customer service has slipped. The last three times I have been in to purchase a new firearm I have left there with a bad taste in my mouth. My most recent experience I went in during the morning on a Wednesday so I knew that it wouldnt be busy in the hopes I wouldnt be rushed like my previous experiences. I came in a gentleman met me at the counter and asked what I would like to look at. So far so good. I told him The firearm type I was looking for (I had already done an extensive amount of research and wanted to handle a couple different models first) and I told him flat out that I was looking to stay in the $800 dollar range but was willing to pay up to $1200 out the door if it was one with all the features I was looking for and really liked it. He handed me the first rifle (which was priced at $799), I looked it over and asked to see the next version up. This is when he started huffing and sighing. I ended up looking at three different new rifles each more expensive than the last, the whole time he was basically looking off into space ignoring me, no effort to try and make the sale or asking for what features I was looking for to make other suggestions -nothing. At this time I am completely turned off. I thank him and as I walk out I notice a couple used versions of the rifle I was looking at, thus I asked to see one just to see if it is a bargain. The cheapest used on they had (I understand it’s a direct import manufacturer) was utterly beat to crap and they were asking nearly as much for it as a new one, this firearm was in such bad shape I would have been hesitant to give $350 for it much less $700. And trying to haggle with them now is a joke the last time, they almost scoff in your face for suggesting something so incredulous. I ended up going to Academy Sports and purchasing the same rifle as the first one I had looked at for $600.12 out the door and had an extremely good customer service experience. In addition to all that, I had purchased a holster(TechnaClip) for my CC weapon on that Wednesday from shooters (which did have the best price on it that I could find). My wife raised a concern about it covering the trigger and safety mechanism and ask that I not use it. So the next day, (Thursday) I went to return it (never installed, never opened, still sealed in the plastic) We were told that they could not give refunds on anything that I could only get a store credit or store gift card. So at that point it ticked my wife off too. My wife starts to fuss and the cashier says well it says so on your receipt, which is dumb anyway to disclose something like that after the sale, there is no sign on the door or at the register about this policy. I guess they have gotten where they do enough volume now that they arent worried about having competitive prices and they expect the firearms to sell themselves. The staff came off as apathetic, with a "here it is, dont ask me anything about it, register is over there and the door is over there" mentality. For the sake of full disclosure they did have a sign on the counter that said they price match. I chose not even bother given the customer service I had received to date, I expected nothing less than the run around from them. +1 Star for selection +1 Star for a clean well put together space -1 Star for price -2 Stars customer service

I arrived at the Jacksonville Shooters when they were opening their doors for the day on a Friday morning. There were already about 6 people waiting outside when I got there. Once inside, I was immediately impressed with the shear number of firearms on display, as well as the plethora of related accessories. After browsing around for about an hour, I saw a firearm I had been lusting after for over a year. It was priced within $100 of MSRP, so I started the process to buy it....but first I had to wait in "line" in order to get to a salesperson. While standing in a mob for over an hour, I noted that there were about 5 employees, all behind the counters. Only three were actually waiting on customers, the rest were acting busy by shuffling around items on display or going in and out of the back room carrying nothing. I overheard several customers complaining about the wait time and the confusing layout. Several left rather than wait. Once the process of purchasing my firearm was actually begun, it was fairly quick....or so I thought. After filling out all the paperwork, and standing around waiting for the background checks, I was ready to pay...only to be told I had to go stand in another line to check-out. Luckily there were only 6 people in front of me, so this line only took about 40 minutes. The time was short mainly because at least 3 of the customers ahead of me had waited in line only to be told they had to go stand in the mob by the pickup area. If the owners actually read these reviews, Id offer the following advice: Put a large sign over the register with an arrow pointing back to the pickup area labelled "PICK-UPS". Put in a number taker (like another reviewer suggested), and call numbers over an intercom. Hang letter signs over the counters at intervals so you can page a number to a specific point along the counter. Put the registers further into the store, at the midway point on the counter, so the line isnt blocking your only entrance, or in the center island where the knives are. Put in a rat maze at the pickup area, the mob setup is irritating and confusing (are you next? No, he was here before me...are you next??). Put the background check forms on clipboards, and have someone hand them out to customers who are definitely going to buy so theyll be ready when they reach the front of the line. In my opinion the store setup could be much more streamlined to maximize customer throughput which would in turn drive up revenue considerably. All-in-all, my experience was a mixed bag. I loved the selection, and the displays, BUT the customer service and store layout left a lot to be desired. As for prices, you need to either do your homework before you go and be looking for specific items, or be ready to wear out your smartphone searching google, the prices ranged from very fair to highway robbery!

PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST FOR A TRUE REVIEW!! Great selection and often times great prices, however, I personally will never buy an item from this business for several reasons. The entire staff is a complete joke and are equivalent to car salesmen in the firearm industry, dishonest and often times have not a clue what they are talking about, yet they are worse than a used car salesman because they lack enthusiasm and any genuine passion to engage with a customer. Example, I went in there one evening with some Christmas money from my wife and really wanted to make a purchase, however, the poor excuse for an employee took 35 minutes to even come talk to me because him and another employee were obviously far too engaged in whatever conversation they were having. Finally, the employee makes his way over to me and doesnt even make eye contact while asking how he can help me than seems bothered by my questions regarding a firearm and shows even more agitation when I ask to see another firearm, it happened to be a CZ P01, and he very unkindly tells me that its over there, pointing at the middle of the store, and claims to meet me there......twenty minutes later he arrives, and yes I thought about leaving the store several minutes ago but I was far too curious to see how this played out. So, he comes over with a clear look of frustration and proceeds to show me the firearm. Then he attempts to "sell" the product to me yet completely lacks knowledge of the entire firearm. Now, this is where the problem truly shows itself. The firearms was clearly USED!!! The barrel was showing signs of excess wear that is characteristic of several thousand rounds of ammunition. When I mentioned it to the employee he says, "well, a lot of people just think the factory makes them and ships them to the market, but they do test it." Yes, that is correct, however, they test a single round or possibly a couple more rounds in some shipments, but this firearms was clearly used. Be very careful shopping here they are dishonest and do not have true passion for the firearm industry. Employees, including managers, are piss poor in all aspects of employee functions including but not limited too customer care(if you do not plan on buying a firearm you will receive little to no attention), lack of knowledge, and work ethic. This is just one bad instance I have had at this store and it will be my last no more chances for this business. They truly need to get their act together because this gun shop could be one of the greatest, hands down, yet employees and management are bringing it down. Please shop around at other gun stores locally and if you truly have to shop here consider online instead. Better prices can be found locally and online. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS GARBAGE DUMP.
