HI
Hilda Loaiza
I was looking in their website to see if I could find the wedding band my husband and I bought since I would like to add another band just like it in the future but couldnt find it. Anyhow...I got to read the reviews and found some that made me giggle. So here is my experience with our purchase. We came in two weeks before our wedding date frantically looking for bands that will fit our budget and the look of my ring. I have a white gold three stone (crown setting) oval emerald engagement ring, two trapezoid diamonds one on each side of the emerald and pave diamonds surrounding all the stones. It had been quite the task to try to find a wedding band to fit properly with such an interesting ring. We originally went to the jeweler where we bought the ring but their selection for bands wasnt quite good or extensive, we also went to a few other jewelers and dint find what I thought would look good with my ring and they kept suggesting other options that didnt really go with the look I wanted. We got suggestions of having the ring custom made (just like my engagement ring) but with two weeks left it was impossible so as a last resource we went to Gold and Diamond Source. We came in during a break, went through the security which by the way I find it quite respectful and necessary, we were greeted and then started walking around to the wedding bands (I would like to mentioned that I was not dressed in my best attire and actually looked a bit awkward with my worst business outfit with very casual wedges that didnt match, my hair was frazzled and not the best make up day but thats another story...) From the beginning my husband made a comment to keep the price low, specifically to stay around $200 to which I rolled my eyes and told the girl assisting us that we could spend a little more than that. She politely asked what I was looking for and I explained the dilemma I was in with the bands not fitting around my ring the way I would like to. While she showed me the different bands my husband was busy finding his. With the help of the girl helping me from the beginning I was able to narrow down my search to two flexible diamond bands that would somewhat fit along each side of my ring and add additional sparkle yet match the diversity of stones and sizes of my engagement ring has. I was pretty happy with the choice although I did compromised on the price and size of the diamonds since now I was choosing two samll bands to make the "look" complete. When I finally caught up with my husband and he asked to show him what I chose he said he liked it but he asked if this was the absolute perfect ring and if that was what I truly wanted so I looked over to the side and said "well I liked that other one but its much higher in price" being the dear that he is he asked to see it along with the band that he chose for himself and asked the girl to give him a price for buying both rings. The attendant and I were both happy because we had looked at that ring and knew that one was the best most perfect fit but it was over the price we wanted to pay for a wedding band....so, after a short wait they came back with a combined price that was fair and fitting to what we had privately thought we would spend on our bands not the $200 he came in talking about haha!. After we made the purchase they sized my ring and had it ready a week before the wedding and it looked perfect, it was no easy task since once again I chose a ring that was not ideal to work with (my band is an infinity band with rose cut tear drop and brilliant cut diamonds). During the whole process the staff was courteous, funny, not condescending at all, and knowledgeable. I have to say, given the comments my husband made and all the joking around they could have assumed we were there just looking and not really serious about spending a considerable amount on two wedding bands and would have been somewhat justified to get a snooty response but on the contrary! they were great, friendly, and a joy to shop with. Thank you for your help and making us happy with our purchase.

I feel like we got a good deal. The only problem I have with them is their customer service. 1st problem. They were very nice when we were looking at rings, then when we said we wanted to think about it they became pushy. They started asking why we didnt want to buy today and that we shouldnt have to think about it. They then told me to beg my husband to buy the ring that day. When I said I would do no such thing they asked why?...Really, how unprofessional?!?! It wasnt like I was looking at a $100 ring. It was a $12,000 ring! However, we did end up going back and purchase it a week or so later. 2nd problem When I purchased my ring I specifically asked what the warranty covered. The girl told me it covered everything. I even threw out a hypothetical situation. I asked if the center diamond fell out if they would replace it. She said yes........A month or so later I was in the mall and popped into a jewelry store to get my ring cleaned. They jeweler informed me my stones were lose so he couldnt clean it. I then took it to the GDS and let them know a jeweler told me a few stones were loose. They told me since I let someone else handle the ring that the warranty was void!!! What I was never informed about this. Thank goodness I did have the mall jeweler look at it because the center stone was loose and at risk of falling out. I then said " thank goodness you replace the center stone if I lose it because it was about to fall out and that would be money down the drain". The girl behind the counter said " Sorry, we wouldnt replace this size stone. You need insurance for that".........excuse me? I was informed they did replace it. I specifically asked this when I was thinking of buying the ring. Good thing I know now, but I think I should have been informed of this when I specifically asked and when I was thinking of making the purchase. Honestly i feel like they will tell you anything to get you to buy the jewelry. I am satified with my purchase, but i think i might have gotten stuck with the one sales person who is great at manipulating teh truth.

First of all this review is for someone who might be looking to sell a precious gem other than a diamond. I went into the Gold & Diamond Source today with 2 pieces of jewelry to sell. One was a basic 14kt gold rope chain and the other a 2.4ct piece of Violet Tanzanite set in decent sized gold setting for a pendant. I forget the guys name who actually assisted me, maybe Matt? Anyway, as soon as he saw that it was Tanzanite he said they werent interested. I had an appraisal from a local GIA certified gemologist for the tanzanite piece at $2100. I realize thats in a potential high end retail setting on a lucky day, I wasnt expecting that much for it. Realistically I thought maybe 50% of the value. It was stated they had an entire case of colored Gems that werent selling, fair enough I get it, its the Gold and "Diamond" source, not tanzanite. He didnt want to make an offer on it, I was just curious and he stated $225, which I obviously didnt take. The thing that got me was I have read such high reviews as to the level of the staffs professionalism and thats why I came in. They didnt even take the time to evaluate the gem. Also I was heckled by one of the four guys standing behind the counter with their arms crossed when I first came in because I said, "I have 2 pieces of jewelry that I am looking to possibly liquidate." He repeated what I said in a slightly mockful tone and was laughing with a couple other guys. Sorry that I actually speak with some form of formal vocabulary, maybe Ill dumb down my statements a bit next time? I was offered a fair price for my chain which I accepted, but the overall experience here was just kind of awkward. Im not really surprised since it is such a large volume dealer, they buy what they know they can sell, no problem. Maybe just control the smug frat-boy attitudes of your younger inexperienced sales-people. 3 stars.
