British guy working in dc on business - visited on New Years Eve. This is going to be my go to place for cigars whenever Im in DC from now on. Found the guys serving me to be really helpful - mentioned I was relatively new to cigars (been getting in to them for past 18 mths) and that I wanted something similar to a nub cameroon....gave me an excellent rocky Patel 2003 vintage. Clearly a couple of guys were locals who frequented this place a lot but they were really friendly - one even offered me a happy new yr handshake. This place is awesome - mixture of some old guys, few businessmen and novices trying out some cigars. Will be visiting again, smoked a stick inside and caught a football game. They have an excellent inventory, relaxed and chilled atmosphere and I bought 6 cigars in total. For any Brits this place is basically half of what wed pay back in the UK. Strongly recommend it over the other cigar place near Ballston mall. Service and selection doesnt compare. Humidor is a real gold mine. Only development point would be that if theyd checked up on me as I came to the end of my stick Id have willing tried another in the rocky range - perhaps even taken a box back to the uk, next time!

First - their current address is NOT 640 14th... its actually 699 15th Street NW, Washington, DC 20005 which is on the corner of 15th and G, basically across the street from the Treasury Building - theyve moved and Google hasnt seemed to be able to catch up with them. Next, its worth finding them, theyve got a great selection with some reasonable prices. Ill definitely be stopping by again the next time Im here...

As a customer now for 20 years, I have watched Drapers evolve and continue to be the defining force in tobacco for the Washington DC area. The third oldest tobacconist in the United States lives up to the expectations accompanying such a designation. Consistently good product, classy and well-maintained establishment, attentive and knowledgeable staff.

If youre looking for a high end cigar store experience then this is the place for you. Just be aware that high end experience comes with high end prices and the occasional snobbery. They do have a great selection of premium cigars and a few nice chairs for lounging to enjoy a smoke.

Decent selection, but the main draw is the venue itself. A nice place to sit and enjoy a cigar in the city. Prices are high relative to other places, but youre right next to the White House, so this is to be expected.
