Unfortunately, I live very close to this Pep Boys and sometimes go there because its convenient. The staff is usually friendly and the service managers seem professional. I have brought my cars here off and on over the last several years. I prefer to keep it to tire maintenance, oil changes and battery replacement. I think of them as a discount repair place and expect low prices. Twice now, I pulled my car and took it elsewhere after red flags went off in my head when the call came for my cars prognosis. I brought my car in because I could hear a broken belt sound. We had just had maintenance done at the dealer so I knew it was in decent shape. I have owned over a dozen cars and have been driving for over 30 years. I had never heard of the part mentioned and couldnt believe they wanted to charge me over $600. The last time they did this, I ended up taking it to my dealer who charged me about 2/3 of what Pep Boys quoted. This time, I took it to an old standby who I know is honest. He said my car didnt even have the part they claimed was broken and he charged me 50% of what Pep Boys wanted me to pay. We go to Pep Boys because we are strapped for money and time but probably will never go there again. Lying and cheating is bad policy and trust is hard-earned. Some of the managers I worked with in the past were great but it seems that there are a few bad seeds there ruining their reputation.

I cant tell you how much to avoid this store. I was just in there at 2pm on 12/8/16 to pick up my car. I spent two weeks researching online for the best place to get tires in my area. After I thought Pep Boys would do it, their online site said to call this location for availability. They said they didnt have those tires in, so I asked for the closest comparison, if not cheaper, tires. They give me a final price, which I settled for (even though it was $80 over what I wanted). So I scheduled the work and came to get my car. They then decided out of NO WHERE, to charge me an additional $80 than what I was anticipating on an already higher-than-I-originally-wanted tire. So $160 more than I was willing to spend in the first place. I showed them the online post and summary of what it was supposed to cost, and they WOULDNT HONOR IT. They wouldnt honor it because it wasnt produced online. I replied saying that I didnt have a choice in the matter because online told me to call and when I did call, they said theyd honor it. Theyre response, "Take it up with corporate, not my problem." Ill never use this place for tires ever AGAIN, even with the bull warranty they gave me because Im sure theyd tack on mysterious charges to that as well.

I love this Pep Boys! I am a new resident of Delaware (by way of Philadelphia). I have dealt with many Pep Boys locations but this by far is the best. I had to have service on my 2007 Honda Civic this past Friday, May 23rd and I needed quite a bit of work. From the time, I walked into the Concord Pike Pep Boys, I was immediately greeted and Tony DeAngelo assisted me at the Service Desk. Tony was very helpful, courteous and keep me updated on the progress of my car. He provided excellent customer service and was very personable! Its people like Tony. In fact, all of the employees that I have encountered or dealt with at this Pep Boys were very helpful and pleasant. They take the time to explain things to you and very eager to help. I never have to wait a long time for my car to be serviced. Its just a pleasure to do business with this Pep Boys. Again, Tony DeAngelo is a wonderful employee and definitely provides top notch customer service! I love bringing my car to this Pep Boys! Wendy Hughes

Tony at the service desk helped me right away with a hand-shake and a how ya doin. He hooked me up with two great tires, making sure they fit my Grand Am. I was desperate, rolling in there with a doughnut on one side and the other one about to blow any moment. Since I was out of town and on my way home, I was worried Id be held up a long time, but Tony and the team made sure I was out of there with fresh, safe tires in an hour. The manager kept coming through the crowded waiting area to check on customers and make sure the operation was rolling along as fast as possible. When we were done, I asked if they offered a military discount - YES! Thank you, every 10 percent helps. My son and I were able to check some shelves and picked up an oil filter, a key fob battery and some snacks while we waited. Nice job Tony and team...Anytime your in Dover, stop by Diamond Motor Sports for your powersports needs...Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Kymco...weve got a lot of great used street bikes too. John

They tried to cheat me! I went in for a pennzoil synthetic oil change, got the quote, and were ready to go. They said it would take an hour, so my brother and I walked off on concord pike. We returned right when they were finished draining the oil and were about to put the new oil in, and saw them using their brand, pro line, instead of pennzoil. We brought this up, and the manager I think, said "what color bottle was it?" And I said grayish and she said "pro line is black" but I told her I clearly read pro line. Fortunately they were servicing my car in the spot closest to the waiting area so it was only 5 feet away from the window to see. Caught in her lie, they gave me $20 off, which is why Im giving them two stars, as opposed to one. My receipt says pennzoil so they definitely were trying to hide it and it was not a miscommunication issue. Be careful if you come here to make sure you get the quality theyre charging for!

I brought in a 2013 4Runner for an oil change. My appointment was scheduled for 6:30PM. The mechanic and staff were initially unable to recognize that they might have trouble changing the oil in this vehicle. This did not stop them from beginning the work. At 8PM, I decided to walk out and check on the progress. I was saddened to find that the mechanic had no clue where the oil filter was. There was no expert mechanic to help him. I had to watch over him until 9:30PM when he finally finished. He was flustered and kept dropping tools and his flashlight. I am concerned that there will be trouble down the road. I will go to a Toyota dealership next time. Maybe today for them to check. I give 2 stars because, minus the price of the oil, Pep boys did not charge for labor and gave me a voucher for a free synthetic change next time. Advice: Spend the extra money and go to a respectable lube shop for your oil change.

Great Store! Prices are a little higher than others but the service was exceptional! Tony at the desk was very helpful and provided me with great service. He took me into the shop where I met Tom the tech working on my car who walked me through everything that needed to be done and explained all of the repairs he was making. I am someone who is very familiar with cars, I have built several engines and have 20 years experience as a serious home mechanic with all types of vehicles. I really appreciated the way I was treated and knew for a fact that they were completely honest with me and I was receiving the best service possible. I am rarely comfortable letting someone else touch my car, but in the future if I dont have the time to do It myself Tom will be the guy working on all my cars and trucks! Thanks Guys!!!
