I have been shopping at HPM for over 20 years and wouldnt shop anywhere else. The service is friendly and helpful. The meats are of a quality that cannot be purchased anywhere else in the area. The prepared foods are delicious and there is a good assortment. I love the NYC style pizza to go. As for Marks comments, I would like to say that while I am what he might consider "an old white person," I am usually stopping in there in my sweaty running clothes and have NEVER had anyone look at me disdainfully because of that. As for the prices, I plan my menus and shopping around the weekly sale flyer and think it is very fair pricing for pantry items and basics (e.g. this week Cabot butter is on sale 2/$5 and Chobani yogurt 10/$10). As for the meat/deli/bakery/produce, you get what you pay for. HPM prices should not be compared to Shoprite for those departments, but to WholeFoods. HPM comes out just fine in that comparison. Finally, in this economic climate, we should all be trying to buy more locally and this is a business with deep roots in the community. Additionally, they buy local product to sell as much as they can which helps out all of us.

Dont come here if youre a minority. You will be feel out of place. This is the grocery store for rich old white people. I feel under dressed when I walk in there. Whats with those baskets they drag around on the floor? Its absolutely retarded looking. Either carry a basket or get a shopping cart. I dont feel like tripping over your groceries because your too lazy to hold a basket. Dont get me started on how overpriced everything is. Expect to pay about 50% more than Shop Rite. I guess what youre paying for is the "experience" of having some unfortunate high school student in a silly uniform put your groceries in the back of your car. Thats a little too bourgeois for me. If you like to rub elbows with the upper rungs of Manchester society, by all means- this is the place for you. Personally, I feel more comfortable in a Mexican Hacienda than I do here. At least there I wont get dirty looks from soccer moms because Im not wearing a collared shirt and fancy shoes.

So Im not entirely sure whats wrong with mark, but this is a very nice grocery store. I personally feel very comfortable shopping here and Im not a rich old white person with fancy shoes and I hardly ever wear collared shirts. Yes you can expect to pay a little more here than the local big chain grocery store, but I dont shop here for the items I can get anywhere. I shop at Highland Park for the food that they make themselves which is absolutely delicious. The store is always clean and the staff are very helpful. One of their signature acts is carrying your groceries to the car for you, which is very nice if you for some reason have difficulty doing that on your own. Overall, its a very nice place to shop for food if you dont mind paying higher prices for the items you can get anywhere and some high quality food that you can only get here.

Quick service and convenient location. This store offers many homemade foods, by their chefs. Lunch time is popular at the deli, so go early. Perfect for on the way home and purchasing supper (just heat it up), already made, including hot pizza. They offer personalized meals and bakery items, also. Organic foods are a speciality here:) Staff is customer and child, friendly. Store is kept clean and orderly. Coffee is hot and only, $1.00 a cup! The weekly specials are always very tempting. Old fashioned service and family owned, this market is highly recommended to anyone who looks for quality, content and convenience.

It was my honor to serve Highland Park Market as a vendor for the greater part of the 1980s. It was then I got to know the Devanney family and became a faithful customer of their store. I even did a short stint as an overnight stock person making many friends in the process. I moved out of Connecticut 15 years ago but still consider Highland Park Market the finest grocery store I ever had the pleasure to do business with, either as a customer, vendor or employee. Miss you guys!

I like the one in Suffield CT better. We order lunch from the Manchester store but occassionally they dont have items that appear on their menu. This has happened a few times during the lunch hours. And by the way Mark, I am not an old white person, nor am I rich but Pat is right, to get the good quality foods or foods that you cant regularly get elsewhere, Highland is the store to find it.

Full of locally grown produce as well as local milk and meats. They have a good selection of items and some items that are even difficult to find at most stores. They also do something I thought died many years ago. Once you bring your cart to the counter to checkout, you dont touch it again. They unload and bag everything, then they push the cart to your car and put the bags in it.

Great neighborhood market. A little bit more money for things but much better quality. Produce here is locally grown and mostly organic. So delicious and locally grown is supported. The meats are so fresh and worth the money. Baggers even push your carriage to your car and load your purchases for you. Who else does that? I love shopping here.

The Highland brand of Pastrami is the best I have ever had. The Manchester store is the best one yet. The quality of fresh products is what I like the best. They make one of the best chicken salads around. The staff is super courteous and always upbeat. Even though this location is out of my way, it is worth the weekend drive.

Its a little more upscale than a big-chain grocery store. Their meat is higher quality but you pay a little more for it. Its worth it if you have a budget for it. The customer service is superb, like an old-school mom and pop store with young people offering to help bring your bags out to your car.

Excellent service and quality foods made in-house. As a former employee and frequent customer I can say this store has got it right when it comes to customers and product. From taking your bags to your car and loading them to the short checkout there are many reasons to shop here.

This store is a great locally owned supermarket. It is smaller and very easy to get around. There are less choices then at some of the bigger stores and slightly more expensive. The employees are extremely friendly and very helpful. There are also never any long lines.

Best grocery store in the area. Butcher and bakery are phenomenal. Pizza is better than most local pizza places and better priced. A lot of variety for single meals and all are delicious. Easy way to get the home cooked meal when you dont have time to cook.
