I am amending my review. I used the self serve on 10/7/12 and what a difference! Apparently they have a new groomer and the room was immaculate. I was giving it one more chance before finding another source but they are only 15 min away and so convenient. 5 stars now! The self service dog wash used to be great but now they have a groomer and it is only open for self serve on Sunday. The Sunday I went the place was FILTHY, not one clean apron, the tubs were caked with hair, even the spray hoses were covered with hair. The grooming tables were dirty as well and the smell of the room was awful. The shampoo was watered down so much it was useless. I went out and told the owner and her annoyed response was "well I just opened." She was also very rude when I asked about another issue.

I have a large labradoodle and I have found it difficult to find a groomer that will bath and trim my dog for a reasonable price. I called ahead and chose a time that wasnt super busy. The groomer trimmed my dog exactly like I wanted and he was ready in a few hours. I like this groomer alot, not fancy but just right for me. I think she(the groomer) loves the dogs and is very pleasant when you drop off your dog. This is my second visit and I will continue to use Horses & Hounds as long as the same groomer is available.

I have a 200 pound Saint Bernard that I spoil to death, I used to bring him here for his baths and I went to bath him around 5:00pm and was told that I only had an hour and I cant do it in that time. So I not only drove 20 minutes to go there, I was told by the so called "owner" that its too bad and I can not believe the absolute poor level of customer service. It takes me 35 minutes to wash him and brush him. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! Since I have found a wonderful place close by called Doggie in the Window.

If you go on weekends when the employees are patient, helpful and friendly- youll be fine. If, however, you go when the crabby woman (owner?) is there, she apparently thinks shes too important to be friendly. I mistakenly went in with my dog this morning and didnt notice that one of 35 flyers taped to the front door asked for dogs to be leashed. No problem- my fault...her reaction was unnecessary and rude. Luckily she clearly doesnt need my business because trust me- SHE NO LONGER HAS IT....

Honestly they have a really good selection- originally thought it would be just pet food and supplies, but was able to find a lot of great, durable clothes and work boots (they have some Carhartt stuff, which is excellent). Ive also used the dog bath and groomer there recently for my lab and she was wonderful and great to talk to, also very reasonable prices.
