I visited the cigar shop today after several years and was reminded why. I recall the owner being a colorful character, but didnt have the same negative experience as many others with him. However the staff seems to demonstrate the very qualities their boss has shown to others. I once purchased a torch lighter from them years ago. It immediately malfunctioned, so I took it back. The clerk at the time adjusted it for air pressure, but to no avail. It took extensive negotiating and persuasion to get him to exchange it. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Today I finally returned out of necessity, and as others mentioned before me, I was immediately followed into the humidor, and the clerk tried to strike up a conversation to cover what I assume was his suspicions of having a customer in the humidor alone. When I answered his questions proving I was a legitimate cigar enthusiast, he then asked me for my identification for the purpose of confirming my (a nearly 40 year old mans) age. He left for a moment, only to return two minutes later asking if I was lost as I had been in the humidor for quite some time. At check out, I offered him my credit card only to have him ask for identification again. I left with a sense of unease from the thought that I was essentially being silently accused of something. Denver has many options for serious tobacco smokers such as Edwards Pipe and Tobacco, Cigars on Sixth, heck even Tewksberry downtown will have my business before these guys.

I live a few blocks away from this store, and try to avoid it like the plague. Every time I have gone in there, the owner has treated me like a total annoyance and waste of his time. Today, however, I was in a hurry, and needed to run in and run out. I was also tight on cash, so I wanted an inexpensive smoke. As soon as I walked in, he jumped up from his seat where he was smoking with a couple guys, and ran in a panic over to his security monitor. (Read the other reviews. Im not exaggerating.) When I closed the door to the humidor, I could hear him totally making fun of me, and calling me cheap. He was griping to his other customers that I wasnt spending enough money in his store! I walked out of the humidor, told him I could hear everything he was saying about me, and his only words to me were, "Dont let the door hit you on the way out." I am done with this place, even though its proximity to me is very convenient. I drove 20 minutes out of my way to the Nickle Cigar in Littleton where I was treated with respect and courtesy. DONT SHOP HERE! GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

The owner of the store is aggressively unpleasant. Im sure he has an undiagnosed mental disorder -- or maybe it is diagnosed and hes off his meds. Hes a cigar man who hasnt smoked a pipe in years. He doesnt bother to stock tinned tobacco brands that would be staples at any reputable pipe shop, but rather pushes his bulk aromatic blends. Instead of listening to a question and answering it, hell pick out a single word from the sentence you just spoke and riff for five minutes on something completely unrelated, or misconstrue your question to be the exact opposite of what you meant. A pushy, arrogant prick all the way. And he doesnt get any more pleasant once you drop a few hundred in his store, either. Other reviewers are right: Avoid like plague.

Highly knowledgeable owner made the "Boys Night Out"! Im fairly unfamiliar to the smoking world and was asked to pick up something special for my best-friends bachelor party. So I stopped into the Tobacco Leaf last Friday, Sept 22nd, to pick out some stogies for the guys. I had to buys six cigars and hadnt a clue how to start or how much to spend. They had some kind of event going on, but John took a few minutes and we decided on the J. Feugo Naturals, which he said would be mild and were also BOGO! The boys had their party last Saturday and the cigars were the hit of the evening! I walked away spending only about 30 bucks and seemed like the coolest girl ever! I will definitely be back there come Christmas, if not sooner! Thanks!!!!!!

I love this store, and Ive been to every one in the metro area. The Tobacco Leaf II is a full service tobacco shop with a wealth of choices in all aspects. The cigar selection is large and expertly chosen, with price on par or better than the rest of the area. The accessories, quality brands, with many styles and price ranges. Pipe, pipe tobacco, humidor selection, extensive. Perhaps the largest in the area. Nice seating space, huge and frequent events with great deals and food. Got a new pipe? John will sit down with you and give you a lesson. Want to know something about cigars or tobacco? John knows it all. Want to start your weekend real early with a smoke and a coffee? Open at 9 on Saturdays. 9!

Great location for quality cigars, pipes, pipe tobacco, and accessories. The Tobacco Leaf doesnt just sell great products but its owner and staff are some of the most knowledgeable in the Denver area. The humidor is packed with a great variety of cigars and the humidity seems to be monitored carefully. As previous reviews have noted, the owner can be abrasive and sarcastic but he has extensive knowledge on each one of his products. If you need help picking out a cigar, knowing its history, getting your humidor set up, or learning how to smoke a pipe, the Tobacco Leaf is hard to beat. Definitely worth your time to stop in!

Ive been in this place a couple of times because they have decent prices, but they are very rude and intolerant. I dropped two cigars while in the humidor and the owner comes running in (they assume everyone is a thief so they watch your every move) and says "you just bought those cigars that fell on the floor". They apparently have an unposted you drop it you buy it policy. I didnt mind because I was buying them anyway, but he proceeds to tell me how he cant sell them to anyone else and how I should be using a basket. He was extremely agitated throughout checkout (I cant believe I actually went through with my purchase).

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS PRICE GOUGING!!! Yes they seem to be able to stock better than most stores in town, but my god almost twenty dollars more than anyone else for a 10oz can of tobacco? I was informed it was because of a new tobacco tax that just hit recently, HMMMMM? After taxes the price was $85 and change. Until they re-think their prices I will not shop there again. But hey, why should they care, a sucker is born every minute. I was once, BUT NO LONGER!!! Please folks shop around. Do not just open your wallet for them and say "Here, feel free take what you want". P.S. Please forgive my Grammar.

The manager and staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Huge humidor well stocked with a great selection. Had a great conversation with the manager. Will return. After, reading the reviews and my conversation with the manager. Heres the deal. If they come into the humidor to help you they are there to help. They arent accusing you of theft. Look up, they have cameras and lots of them. And if they ask for your ID, its to guarantee that the name on the card is the same as the ID. Its for your protection as well as theirs. Great staff.
