First off, I havent been there in a couple years for reasons below so this may have changed but Im still so upset about my experience there that I need to share it. I purchased my highish end carbon bike from them which was a smooth and pleasant transaction. I told them that I had to travel with the bike in the near future for a race and they told me they would pack it up for free to help me out. Due to poor communication from GBS, it was a rush to get it in the queue for shipping and I ended up paying for the packing anyway. When my bike arrived in San Diego, the front brake was mangled as if it had been hit with a sledge hammer and the fork was chipped from where it stopped the brake from breaking off. The box was in perfect condition and the shop I had it shipped to was my shop for years when I lived in San Diego. They called immediately to see what happened and what to do. After multiple calls to Golden Bike Shop, they did absolutely nothing. They would not take responsibility for the damage they did and left me with a broken and damaged bike. Absolutely horrible!

With multiple bike shops in Golden, why patronize Golden Bike Shop? Multiple quality bike manufacturer brands are on offer, as well as an extensive and varied component selection. Not in stock? Ordering what you desire is easily done. Any uncertainty about what you want is readily addressed by knowledgeable and capable staff, each of whom possess breadth and depth regarding all facets of bicycles. The entire staff rides all sorts of bikes -- they know product capability and functionality. Want to ride a bike of interest on a trail? -- take advantage of the best demo program around. Regardless of a customers level of cycling experience, the service is friendly and helpful. Repairs and similar are always handled in a manner that defines the phrase above and beyond. GBS mechanics skills are of the highest quality, and their solutions to difficult or unusual problems are creative and functional. Always top shelf service, repair and sales; recommended without reservation.

Service has went way down the tubes in the last year. Ive had them build me a bike in the past without issue. Now I cant even get them to return a call. Its been about 4 weeks since I asked them to order me a part from Industry 9, I even gave them the part number. A week in I called to check on it and they were "still waiting to hear from their rep". Meanwhile the whole reason I knew the part number is because the west coast rep called me back within 3 hours of leaving him a message before I even called GBS. Anyways, a month now with no phone call. Ended up taking the wheel to Pedal down in Littleton on last Thursday. The adapter from industry nine is already in and Im picking it up tomorrow. 6 days from order to completion... 28 days into GBS and they havent even ordered it yet because they, "want to clarify with their rep first." Wont be using GBS anymore.

Ive been a GBS "regular" since 2011. I have purchased 2 high end bikes from them and take both to them for regular maintenance. Pivot 429 carbon for my full suspension and a Scott Scale carbon hardtail. I stop in about once a week to chat with the guys at the shop about trails conditions, gear selections, whats new in the bike world, etc. The entire staff is friendly, easy to talk to, well informed about bikes and gear, and dont display any of the "attitude" that sometimes can be found in other shops that I have visited. I have recommended GBS to many of my friends and several have used the GBS demo program to help them make a fully informed decision as to what bike is the best bike for them. IMO they are a GREAT shop that makes sure to keep what the customer needs in mind and not just push the "newest and greatest" ideas.

I purchased a high-end mountain bike (Pivot Mach 6) from Golden Bike Shop and I had a great experience. I did a lot of research, talked to the bike manufacturer, and ultimately decided to go with Golden Bike Shop based on my interaction with their staff there. Everyone there was very helpful and when someone didnt know the answer to a question, they quickly passed you to someone that did. Taylor was a true professional during the entire process and he worked hard to make sure I got the exact set-up I was looking for. Given that it was a major purchase, Taylor was patient with me and I never felt like I was getting rushed. If youre looking for a Pivot mountain bike, I would only working with GBS.

This is the only shop I go too any more. They are a smaller shop and always helpful. I used to go to Wheatridge Cyclery and also the Sports Garage in Boulder. I do like the Sports Garage too, but GBS is closer to me. Yes they are busy some times but I usually go during the day at off times. Also they are closed Saturdays but open Sundays so they are the only game in Golden on Sunday. And if you need a nice bike they can be creative about putting a deal together for you. And its true that if you buy a bike there, you will get tune-ups for life, and a loose interpretation of your warranty. They also have a great demo program. Highly recommended!

- Purchased 4 demos for $200 in summer of 2016 - Used one demo. - Purchased 5,000 bike. - Tried to use remaining demo spring of 2017 - Was told my demos had "expired after 60 days of original purchase" a policy i was never informed of when purchasing. While demoing the bike the first time I heard an employee say "i almost got in a fight last time i rode at buffalo creek, anyone who wears knee pads there should be shot". Clearly hes never ridden blackjack. Do yourself a favor go to Wheat Ridge Cyclery instead - they sell Yetis and Santa Cruzs as well and will make an effort to take good care of you.

WOW these guy are so patient, educated and awesome wrapped up in one! I was looking at Fat Bikes to have some fun in the snow... didnt really have a lot to spend - Taylor to care of me like i was buying a $10,000 bike. He answered all my questions, set up 3 different bikes for me to demo and educated me on each one and listened to what i had to say! Great experience, I highly recommend Golden Bike Shop for your biking desires! I ended up with a "Salsa Muluk" changed out a few things to lighten it up - rode today 17 degrees and had a blast! Thanks you guys - Im so happy!! Daphne - Littleton, Co

Awful/No service, I rode my bike to the shop looking for some advice on a helmet, the employees never once asked if I needed help, the employee outside servicing the bicycles just stared and me and made me feel like I shouldnt be there, no "Hello, can I help you" nothing, as I walked through the store and outside looking. My sister is the editor for mountain flyer magazine and I will make sure all of her staff and anyone who reads their magazine are aware of the terrible service at this shop, and that riders come in all shapes size and colors, I would not recommend this shop to anyone.
