B & N and the Cafe lost my business today--now and in the future. I have been going to this location for over a decade. It was my happy place. My routine is simple: I find books I might be interested in and take them to the cafe to flip through for 30 minutes or so to see if I want to purchase them. 8 times out of 10 times I eventually buy a cup of tea, dessert and 1 or more books. However, today I was told that the cafe (which was 1/2 empty, by the way) was for paying customers only and that if I didnt buy something I would have to leave. I hadnt decided on my books and wasnt ready to buy my tea yet, so I picked up my 3 books and left the cafe. I looked for another place in B & N to comfortably look at through my books, but there was no other place to spread out---so I put my books back and left the store. I had found 3 books I really liked and almost certainly would have bought at least 2 of them--to the tune of $40. I also almost certainly would have then bought my tea and a dessert and settled in for an hour or so of reading. However, instead of making $50 or more on me today, B & N and the Cafe made nothing. Nada. Zero. Zip. I will not be returning to that store. I will be headed to the used bookstore in Golden where I am allowed to read and purchase at my leisure. In this age of Amazon and used book stores where you can buy books at a fraction of B & Ns prices, I would think B & N would be doing everything possible to make potential customers comfortable, happy and give them incentive to linger as long as possible. I can understand if non-paying customers were keeping paying customers out of the cafe, but that was not the case. The cafe was half empty! A table of little old ladies playing cards were told the same things as me--pay up or beat it! In fact--most people in the cafe was asked to leave! I dont know what this surly employee/manager thinks she is accomplishing at the B & N Cafe--but she is short sighted and bad for business!

The associates in this store are extremely rude! Upon flagging down an employee to ask where I could find a book, her reply when asking if she worked there was: "No, I just push a cart around like this for all eternity with no reason". Once we located the area of the book I needed, she then said: "anything else"?? Her tone was harsh and she made me feel as if I was a bother. Initially there was confusion as to whether or not she was an employee because her name badge was not visible. The sarcastic reply and irritation was enough for me already. After checkout I asked for a Manager and was given a Head Cashier, she was just as hateful and unhelpful. This store will not get my business again and I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before visiting this store.

Tried to exchange a Ticket To Ride game we got as a Christmas present. We already have it and wanted a different version. They sell them, and had what we wanted, but without a gift receipt they wouldnt exchange it. The person who bought it for us mentioned they had bought it at B & N, but they didnt have the receipt, so no luck. Went across the street to Its Your Move store in Colorado Mills. They exchanged it without any issue and were very friendly. I know where Ill be buying games, and it wont be Barnes and Noble.

Great selection of books. My kids love the service they get in the childrens / young adult area - I personally have not had good results with the staff at the "help" desk or checkout. Get over yourselves and realize we have other options for book buying (I love amazon). Will go here in a pinch when I need a book faster than Amazons 2 day service. The kids area is great however, and I really like the cafe.

The only employees I could find in the store were hanging out taking by the doors, after waiting for them to finish their conversation it was an obvious inconvenience to help the line of customers that formed at the registers. It is worth the drive to go to a different store. A great selection but sadly the employees give an awful experience.

It is in the Denver West neighborhood and a good fit I might add! It is surrounded by different shops and restaurants for your choosing! It is also across the street from Colorado Mills shopping mall! It does have a Starbucks in the store! It is very clean and the staff stand out with their customer service skills!

I have been coming here for sometime, but today will be my last. I sat down to check my email before getting coffee. Some worker (not a starbucks employee) comes to me to tell me to leave unless I buy something. I stare at her with disbelief. Got up and left. Dont speak to customers in that manner.

One person in the Nook section on Friday night? And when asked if someone could help me, clerk says I will have to wait..... 25 minutes? Not if I go to another store. I already knew what I wanted but couldn't get without employee assistance. CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE WAS HORRIBLE.

Sad to see book stores diminish so. They have a fair selection, but even with a membership, prices are significantly higher than purchasing online. If they matched prices with Amazon, they may see more traffic. As it is, only worth stopping into if you need something right away.

Your typical Barnes and Noble bookstore. Usually very in order, the staff is usually helpful and friendly. There is a Starbucks inside with lots of seating available, open until 10pm. The Nook section is very large. Magazine selection is very large. Bathrooms are well maintained.

This place has almost every book you could ever need. I sure wish they competed with Amazons prices but they dont and are typically more expensive. For that reason alone, B&N will be my, "last minute book purchasing store" rather than my "go to store". Excellent atmosphere.

One thing with this store and there internet is, what the internet says they have in stock isnt in stock at the store most of the time and they will not honer the price on the Barns & Noble internet sight. What company does that? No wonder there going out of business.

I love this store.. its location is excellent, the atmosphere is nice and plenty of interesting books to browse. It is near many stores and restaurants plenty of shopping to do and if you are hungry plenty of restaurants to choose from. I highly recommend this store. :)

I love bookstores and Barnes & Noble is convenient. Staff were friendly and the store was publicizing fun events. The coffee area, which has free wi-fi, did not have any power outlets available! Old building. :(
