This bookstore is, and has always been overpriced. But thats what you pay for the convenience of buying your books on campus. It is also not the reason for the one-star review. The reason for the one star is that they recently reorganised the textbooks. In the old system a customer would head downstairs go to the section for their school and in that section they would find all of the books organised by course and then further divided by section with the professor listed. This simple and intuitive system made finding ones books incredibly easy and relatively effortless. That system is no longer in place. Instead, all of the books have been combined into one section and organised by author. At first glance this may not seem like a bad system, it may even seem superior to some. But, let us look at it in practise and not in theory. If I stop a random student on campus and ask them who the authors of their textbooks are they probably would not know them. At best, they may know the publisher. As a personal example, I have been a student for two decades now, eight years of which have been in college. I cannot name a single author of any of my textbooks right now and that includes the one in my backpack and the one I just bought. What all of these students will know is what courses they are in, and they are likely to also know their professors. A textbook author is more than likely not a celebrity. It is more than likely that most students will never be quizzed on them or have any desire to seek out more of their work. These are the reasons we remember authors. Even when these reasons apply, you will never walk into a bookstore and see the entirety of their inventory arranged strictly by author. Take for example Barnes and Noble. They are the largest booksellers in the country and are, in fact the only remaining nationwide chain of bookstores. To come out of the 90s and early 2000s as the proverbial king of the hill must, or at least should mean that they are or have been doing something right. When a customer walks into a Barnes and Noble the books are separated by category, then author. Not just by author and nothing else. The same applies to libraries. We grow up learning to sort first by category. To sort by author only provides a needless encumbrance upon students who sometimes because of custom textbooks are left unable to take their business elsewhere in protest. This is far and away one of the worst decisions that I have ever seen made by a retailer! Whoever is responsible for this change should be immediately stripped of that responsibility and NEVER given it back. These are the unarguable facts regarding the new system: It is NOT easier for anybody! It is NOT more efficient for anybody! It is NOT more intuitive for anybody! It is NOT better for anybody! I will continue to voice my opinion on this, and should I be in the store I will complain so that I am heard. I have enough going on between work, volunteering, and school. Adding any unnecessary hassles only further complicates things and causes added stress. I welcome the bookstore to contact me so that we may engage in a dialogue that will hopefully lead to improvements.

Ah, ye ole Tiv. When I went to CU Denver, I visited the Tiv regularly to meet classmates or grab lunch. Its a historic building with an active brewery, movie theater, food court and bookstore. If only the food in the food court were better, the ambiance in the food court is that of what youd expect from a local mall in the mid nineties. Other than that, the place is cool.

Ehh. Its a nice building, really simple to navigate. However, theres always a ton of people around. Its to be expected but it can be difficult to not look at someone by mistake. Distracting at times, its always a shame to be unable to receive signal on a T-Mobile telephone. Other than food or other office/paper work necessities, I probably wouldnt stick around.

This bookstore is horrible. Only use the bookstore for lab manuals and books specific to the school. Anything sold in the store is less expensive to both buy and rent anywhere else. My grand total came out to 50% of what tivoli tried to charge me for textbooks this semester because I used amazon and other sources online.

The beer list seems to have improved. Over the summer about half of the beers I requested were out. The last few times theyve had everything on the list. The food menu is a bit brief but still has some good options. They are always quick and friendly.

Justin Jun. Do you work for the bookstore? If so I can see why you have so much allegiance to them. However you are blind. They are extremely overpriced and simply aid in the extreme cost of getting an education these days.

Usually loud and crowded during the day. Food is pretty much fast food choices, minus the wraps spot. But they seem to be out of certain ingredients on the regular. Bring headphones if you plan on studying.

Great place to stop after work or school, they play loud music usually. Pricey, though they have a fairly good selection with knowledgeable staff. For food I recommend their Sriracha brussel sprouts.

I wish I could give <1 star. Awesome place to pay 1200% markup after waiting for hours to be treated rudely. Sadly, the only place to obtain some course-specific materials...

The building is clean and has a variety of shops and offices for the universities but the layout is confusing at first. Dont hesitate to ask for help if its your first time.

Tivoli Station is a student union building for UCD, Metro State, and CCD. It also contains a nice little food court as well as some very nice more up scale restaurants.
