The things Barnes & Noble is good for: having a place to sit while you look through the three travel guides youre deciding amongst. Then, not buying any of them because you can get a better deal (with free shipping) through Amazon. The coffee is mediocre and over-priced, the books are limited in scope (and getting more so every day), CDs (and DVDs for my generation) are dinosaurs now. The games/puzzles/calendars/notebooks are quickly becoming the only thing this place seems to make money on. Bookstores in general, but Barnes & Noble specifically, need to reinvent themselves for the new reality we live in. Maybe having live music, better coffee, focusing on local authors and services would be a good place to start. I would also enjoy more access to the vast network of books out there from somewhere in the store (the terminals they offer are almost unusable and relics from a different time) and then ordering them takes at LEAST two weeks. Why? They have an advantage over Amazon in that I can look through a book and decide I dont want it without buying it, so they should highlight this service and prioritize getting the book there quickly.

I shopped online for a Mothers Day present for my Mom. I ordered a tote and another item for her. The tote was advertised to be on sale for $4.95. It showed the discount being deducted from the total in the shopping cart. When I checked out it never showed me an itemized view of the total. After paying and receiving the email confirmation and receipt I noticed I had not in fact received the discount. When I went to the online chat help provided by the company I was disconnected by their staff three different time for inactivity before I was final able to receive help. When I was helped the answer I received was that they had determined that gift cards were not an eligible purchase for the discount on the tote bag. When I explained that it had shown up in the shopping cart as applying the discount the gentleman acknowledged that it originally did but was removed after I had entered in the payment phase. What!!! It was only a $3 discount but I would not have ordered it otherwise. Besides I do not appreciate my totals being added to after the payment process has started.

The least friendly place in Boulder. Could they have a few more rules? I have a Nook and spend nearly $50 each time I come here, but oh, no, dont you dare move tables; you have to use the tiny tables they supply, theyve recently covered all the outlets, so you cant stay long enough to really do much if you need your computer, even if you are drinking coffee or reading your nook and its low on batteries. These guys are freaking Nazis! Why are they this way? Its not like Im a bum or something - I spend a LOT OF MONEY HERE! Seriously? Why? UPDATE: Really, they never fail to disappoint, like the guy said below. Theyve covered more outlets. Was told once that tables could not be moved, because of fire code. Now they have shelving in the middle of the lane, breaking any fire code that could possibly exist. So why the lie? Why do I keep going back, hoping someone grew a heart?

Great place to get ones favorite coffee drink while checking out (reading) a few magazine articles and/or book chapters. They stay open til 10pm and ... the crowd isnt big in the evenings and ... parking is plentiful esp in the evenings :-) Given these benes, I prefer purchasing books from B&N rather than Amazon. But ... while sipping coffee at B&N I often use their wifi to read book reviews on Amazon ;-) B&N, no doubt, figured this out long before I arrived ;-) The women behind the coffee shop (which has more customers and edibles than Starbucks ;) know their regular customers by name. I treasure the atmosphere, the pastries, the mags, the books AND the women who run the coffee shop. Wonna seat? Get there EARLY morning ;)

At the cafe, Jessica, Kymberli, and Alex, make the experience of getting an ice tea an enjoyable one. Those ladies rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It should be noted that the cafe manager ms. Jessica goes above and beyond to help less fortunate people who come into her cafe. This barnes and noble should be commended for helping ones less fortunate. And ms. Jessica is the type of employee that all businesses want. Outstanding job Barnes and Noble for having employees that show such selflessness!!!!

No surprise that Amazon is devouring these big box stores. I asked for help finding a specific book, and was told to go look in a general direction that they might have it. The human touch is all this place had going for it and it to now is gone. FYI the book will be here in two days!

Gosh - I just love Barnes & Noble. I love books, the smells of a bookstore, the racks of little notepads and trinkets. The smell of coffee nearby. I only ever read eBooks. I dearly hope that we never lose brick and mortar book stores because of people like me...

I love this Barnesy!! The booksellers are just awesome! They are always willing to help you find a book or offer up a good read. I love the coffee shop and the ability to flip through some magazines or books. This is the nice Barnes.

The book store itself is really good just like all Barnes & Nobles. This location though shares a parking lot with a number of other places including wholefoods. Some days it feels near impossible to find parking and its annoying.

In a time when books seem to fall by the wayside, there remains those who stay true to the simple act of reading something with pages. This is a place where you can find these things, hold them in your hands, and purchase them.

I called to see if a book I needed was in stock. The lady who I spoke to was completely un-helpful. She kept telling me to stop talking and was very rude/short with me. Not the experience I was looking for.

Some people dont like the big chains, I like this bookstore. Organized well and nice employees. Always can find something interesting here. Parking can be tough at times, but nice store.

I called 8 minutes before the store opened, the woman rudely told that they dont open until 9 and swiftly hung up the phone. Guess I will shop somewhere else this holiday season.

Cant go wrong. Large selection, coffee shop, helpful staff. Loses one star because of lack of locality and online price competitiveness.

Nice place to relax, get a cup of coffee, and get lost in a good book. It also offers boardgames and small specialty toys and models.

Pretty average barnes and noble, selection seems to have slimmed out a bit, at least in the art/fiction/graphic novel section

Staff was super helpful. Store is clean and bright, book selection is great. Would love to see a larger Colorado section.

Good spot to enjoy a cup of coffee in a quiet environment. Their selection of book is great also, but a little expensive.
