I am sure the people who have bought books from West Side Books had a positive experience, however my personal experience selling to this establishment was horrendous. Today at 11:30 A.M I dropped off a box full of books with the owner (elderly woman), who said she would call me in about 20-30 minutes on my cell when she was done evaluating them. I returned about 45 minutes later to find her making a long, dramatic personal call at the front desk. I later called to find out what her evaluation was; she offered me $5 of store credit for all the non text book (approximately 7 books). I told her I was not going to pursue the sale and to please return my books. When I returned to the store, she had lazily thrown my box of books by the front door- and the 7 she wanted to buy were missing. I asked her what had happened to them, and she pretended not to know anything about them. This woman is unfortunately either a liar, thief, or ill equipped to perform her duties. For your own sake, I would suggest selling else ware.

This book store has a lot of character and really good selection. I like my used book places to be a bit cluttered, making finds all the more rewarding. The selection here stretches from floor to ceiling, and I walked away with a couple of gems. The organization was not as good as it could have been, but I have seen much worse layouts and sorting. They even added flair to the sections, with a typewriter in their "books for writers" section and gardening tools in landscaping and home repair sections. Glad I found West Side Books, and I hope you do too!

A splendid establishment offering an ideal experience for book lovers of all ages. Some may decry the congested aisles but veteran browsers relish the opportunity to peruse the stacks in search of the obscure and overlooked title which there are plenty to be found here. The staff are welcoming and helpful, making a visit to West Side a pleasure. Because of the digital tide, places like this are an endangered species so if you value 2nd hand book outlets, go here and buy something before it succumbs to another Starbucks or Chipolte.

A load of bull, me and my sister went in and decided to trade or sell 10 books, 4 were not used, yet we got 12 dollars in store credit for used books, what a rip off, so I decided to buy a new book with half of the in store credit so my sister can use it, but after we find a book, they say that I used all of my credit on a new book, of which they didnt mention that. As I can see, they are bad with dealing, the staff is rude and have used books for outrageous prices.

If you are a book lover, then every now and again youll have a dream where you find yourself in the best bookstore of them all. The shelves are filled with impossibly wonderful books, the kind of books that are only published in dreams and only found there, too. If you are lucky enough to wake up in Denver, then you can visit that store in your waking life, too. Its this store - West Side Books. This store is truly a dream come true for people who love books.

Absolutely amazing bookstore! So glad to see small independent shops continue to thrive in this quickly changing neighborhood. Their selection is absolutely immense and the staff is always friendly and seems to know where absolutely everything is hiding. Ive easily lost hours in the shelves looking at everything from new fiction to first editions to the very obscure (Paperweights of the World!). I always walk away with something wonderful.

Voted both the best and oldest book store in Denver by the Westword. Its also one of the best if youre looking for a place to take a date. Cute and has awesome charm. The name "West Side Books" actually shows its age as it was named back when this part of town was called "West Side Denver" before it was renamed "Highlands".

I love everything about this book store. The staff is fabulous, the selection and prices are fantastic. Ive found the most amazing and obscure stuff here! I love the piles on the floor, the jam packed rows. Its comfort food for your head:) They even let us take our engagement pictures in here!

An amazing variety of books with friendly, book-loving people to help you. Found a couple of non-fiction books that might not turn up anywhere else in Colorado. Has a particularly good selection of books on Colorado and Denver. Also a lot of collectible, antique books.

Do not sell your used books to this woman. If you bring anything to her, take a photo or keep a list first- she does not keep track, returns half the stack, and may offer you $5. She is literally a crook.

Love this place for a super-extensive selection of new and especially of used books of every genre. Dont be deceived by the small front area...it opens up into a huge jam-packed room in the back.
