DONT BE FOOLED BY THEIR ADVERTISEMENTS They often advertise sales that dont exist, for example "all bikes on sale" and when you step inside, they are the same price as they were last week and last month... no sale really, its just a gimmick to get you inside, but thats not what really bothered me... They have a price match promise for any "advertised price" but when I tried to price match, they said they dont match sales, they only match original prices. Their website claims "Our goal is to provide the best value every day. If you find a lower advertised price, we will match it at the time of your purchase, or refund you the difference for up to 90 days. The comparison item needs to be the same model, year, color, size and currently be in stock. For retail purchases we match to any retailer located within 25 miles of our store. For on-line purchases, we match to any authorized, domestic online or catalog retailer. Show us the advertisement or provide the web address and well gladly refund you the difference. Performance receipt required." ... THIS IS NOT TRUE. On 5/27/14 around 6pm, I tried to price match a diamondback overdrive 29" bicycle priced $599 to Sports Authoritys sale price of $487.49. The manager, Ian, seemed surprised that Sports Authority was able to offer the SAME bike (color, size, specifics all the same) at such a low price. I explained that it was their memorial day sale. Ian was in charge of price matching according to other employees who helped us that day, but since it was apparent Ian didnt want to match the price after expressing surprise that the price was so low at the competitors store across the street, he called his corporate phone number, got a young lady on the phone, and she told me they do not offer price matches to sale prices. ... WHAT????... The offer at the competitors (Sports Authoritys) website and store was a Memorial Day sale and she said they dont match sales or promotions, just regular prices. There is no such thing stated in their price match policy. I would like them to clarify their "low price promise" and state that important fact. They state that any advertised price will be matched, but when it comes to the moment of price matching, they ONLY VERBALLY state that they wont match the advertised price because it is a SALE. Well, then put that in your written statement also! And dont waste my time checking bicycle specifications and checking the website/ad for an hour before making this excuse to not do what you promise. This "low price promise" is published online and in stores and obviously needs to have that important detail added. SUMMARY: They dont price match like they say. Unless its the stores regular price. If its a sale price you found, they wont match it because thats considered a promotion and they dont match promotions.

The service shops indecency is second to none!!! I took my bike to them for just tightening the crank shaft bearing housing. On the checkout slip, they wrote that they will call whenever the bike is ready. I waited 3 days for them to call, no one called. So finally I go there and see that they did the job and set it on the storage rack with an extra charge for rear flat tire. But thats just bull, I drove the bike 15 miles before I hand it over to them and it was NOT flat or even low on air. I confronted them and told them it was not flat or even low on air when I brought it here. They responded that, oh there was a thorn stuck in the rear tire!(Theres no way to prove that there was no throne there) to make the matter worse they didnt have the decency to give me a call and tell me hey, your rear tire was punctured should we change it or not....This is B.S. I ended up spending 30 bucks instead of 10 bucks for the original fix. If youre gonna take your bike to them , be prepared to pay for one or two cases of tire punctures. Im not going back to them ever again...Its a BIG BIG MISTAKE! especially if you havent bought your bike from them, youre toast!!!

Screw you Performance. I should have known better. My little son needed a bike to replace his tiny trike. Simply because I cant build him something we are forced to buy something retail. Apart from a clueless sales staff, who couldnt wait to offload me, we got the bike home. Apparently the service department had "run through" it as a final check. As soon as we got home, I noticed the front tire was flat. Hmm... So I unbolted the front wheels and noticed that... 1. The hubs were so tight they didnt spin 2. The headset wasnt tight so that it rattled. 3. Brake pads were misaligned so that each squeeze of the brake levers results in a high pitched squeal. 4. The bottom bracket was barely greased. Good luck later when you want to overhaul it. Look. Im not expecting Tour level mechanics but these are basic skills that prevent children from getting hurt. So unless youre going to bring out your own set of bearing come wtenches, stay away and buy it from a shop that cares.

The shop has a good selection of bikes, clothing, etc. The best time to go is when there is a sale. Because they are a big chain, they tend to be better for people who know what they want. Those new to cycling may want a mom and pop style shop. Comments by another reviewer stating that the kids bike he bought had very little grease in the bottom bracket, and the hubs were tight, and other problems is an example. The reviewer should complain to the bike manufacturer. Bike shops do not rebuild kids bikes, or any other low cost bike. Even expensive bikes are not rebuilt usually, just adjusted. Hubs are not adjusted. I worked at a bike shop as a mechanic many years ago and saw the same thing. Bikes are shipped that way and shops can not afford to rebuild a bike that costs a few hundred dollars or less. They just have to adjust bikes enough to make them safe. Noisy brake pads are common on kids bikes and lower priced adult bikes. Just learn how to adjust your bike.

I bought a bike here at the beginning of 2011. But I did the works. Joined membership, got service contract. Since that day I have probably been in here 15 times. Each time, the service has been worse than the last.. From apathy to rudeness. The manager is a "whatever" type of guy and his employees walk all over him. The head mechanic cannot be bothered, he is too important.. Manager shows no urgency to be of service so nobody else does either. They get to it when they get to it. . But at least they are OVERpriced. That IS the best I can come up with for them. So, I found a cool local bike shop....Whatever.

so far..in the last 5 months had good experience. they carry decent brand bikes (gt, fuji, ridley, scattante and many more)..lots of variety, customer service (sales rep, cashier) is good, always willing to help and takes time to answer questions..the mechanic Bob is awesome...thought me techniques on how to change inner tubes..hahaha because im a noob! :) return policy is the best! i just wished they carry more parts, components, grease, oil,..etc in the store..instead i have to purchase online and wait 5 business days to pick items up..other than that..performance bicycle gets a thumbs up.
