One morning, I decided to stop by this Vons to get a couple of beers (it was that kind of morning). After shopping, I noticed a traveling couple sitting outside (they had also just finished shopping.) I had spoken with them on the way in. They seemed interesting; so, i decided to stop a chat for a while (it was that kind of morning). As I walked toward my car, i noticed a manager lady talking to the security guard and pointing at the couple. She was saying that she didnt think the "image" of the (admittedly scruffy) couple was good for her store. Instead of merely asking the couple to move along, the security guard called the Santa Monica Police and told the dispatcher that some homeless people were "scaring away customers." I was outraged! I decided to stick around and speak to the officers when they arrived. The officers questioned the two as well as another homeless lady who happened to be nearby. Then they questioned me. I told them exactly what happened, explained that all of us were customers, and I offered that, in fact the homeless werent scaring away customers, it was actually the manager who was scaring away customers by calling the police on them merely for the crime of existing. The officers agreed with me, and crisis was averted. I certainly hope that this isnt the image that Vons wishes to portray... and I might add that the manager lady must have weighed over 250 pounds... not exactly a healthy weight... Is that the image of Vons Santa Monica? What a joke! From then on, I only shop at Vons Santa Monica if there is nowhere else open. They do have a wide selection, including many organic and specialty items, so i grudgingly give them 2 stars. best to avoid this place :P

I was harassed 3 times on different dates by the Grocery manager near closing time. The worst of the 3 was when there were about 10 mins left tile close. I knew what I wanted and I am a fast shopper. He and some other workers started talking about me before I even got close to them. I tried to ignore them. But when I got close enough, the Grocery manager (6 Latino) told me with a sneer on his face and anger in his voice that If I "didnt go to the cashier now, that I would not be checked out of the store. " I just looked at him in shock. Where was the customer service? Even one of his workers said: "Calmate Cabrone..." as even he knew this guy was getting out of control. So, he starts in again (grocery manager) and repeats what he just said but in diff terms- still with anger. So, I said back: "Well then, if I get to the front and there is no checker, then Ill just put my groceries on the floor and leave." Horrid customer service. Store managers that I have known in the past and worked for would have fired this guy on the spot if they witnessed how he acted. Its really a shame that customers service is going down the tubes, these days.

I shop here regularly. If you use all the tools, registering for Vons Just for You and going online to choose purchases and add coupons and deals catered to your shopping pattern you can save a lot of money. Seriously. My tape will get up to lets say $100 then the discounts are applied and the cost to me will fall down to $60. That is a lot of savings. It takes a little effort and computer time, but is worth it. Plenty of parking in convenient location taking up half the block from 7th to Lincoln on Broadway. I live near beach and i can walk here. Dont really have to deal with Lincoln at all if you enter on 7th street side south of Broadway. Fairly good sized aisles and logical placement of foods. Large liquor department. Its own bakery and deli put out fresh ready to eat entrees and desserts and can take catering orders. They will also deliver, usually for free depending on amount spent. Cashiers are actual helpful pleasant people. The store feels comfortable to me. There are crowded times when not enough registers are open, but that is usually quickly remedied. Im really happy with service and availability of what I use.

I would give it a minus review if I could. Someone said customer service is rude. My story: I was driving the car of a dear friend while visiting out of town. The friend is in intensive care at a nearby hospital. I stopped in the Vons parking lot to first to visit a nearby store and was going to shop there after. When I came out the car was being towed! There was a warning paper on the windshield which said dont park here if you arent shopping here or "next time" you will be towed. But there was no "next time" the car was being towed. I panicked because without the car I could not get to the hospital and told the parking attendant that. They would not give back the car without a very big fee paid to the towing truck. There was NO courtesy, and absolutely no understanding. I can understand their need to control parking, but the warning was not a warning. It was "gotcha" even THOUGH the car was a handicap sticker car. What terrible public relations for their store. I will most certainly never shop here again.

I had a terrible experience here this evening. While checking out, I went to bag my own groceries because there was no bagger there. A young woman came up to help me, and I said, "Ive got it." But she pushed past me anyway and started bagging my groceries. I threw the receipt in one of the bags, and thats when she began to be rude. She muttered "It doesnt go in there," after which I said, "What?" And then she said something unintelligible, but I just continued putting groceries in the bags. She started throwing my groceries in the cart -- eggs, wine and all! I said "What the f---?" And she proceeded to say "F--- off!" and walk away. I went to the manager and demanded a refund. The manager was rude, and when I tried to get her name, she covered up her name tag. There were no consequences for the bagger, and there was no apology. The manager basically said I was in the wrong. This is the rudest Vons I have ever been in.

This is absolutely by far the worst grocery store I have ever shopped at. The customer service is on par with speaking to a dumpster. I actually think the dumpster is by far much more helpful. I am in shock at the fact that not only they were all hired, but that they are not all fired and forced to move out of our beloved country. The people who work at this store give our entire planet a bad name. I encourage everyone out there to shop elsewhere and youd be much better off not even looking directly at this pile of trash as you might turn to stoned and angry

I come here almost daily because there are no other super markets close by except for Whole Foods which is too expensive for my budget. Today it took me 30 mins to get a hot meal from one counter which took 15 minutes alone because they were understaffed in that section then it took another 15 minutes to checkout for that same meal because again like always the lines were absurd. I live a 2 mi the walk to the store. By the time I got home my food was ice cold. Seriously hire more people it is ridiculous
