Una nostalgia viviente y para mi, el único Barnes que queda vivo y que no se convirtió en un Wholefarms whatever. Me encanta ver a la gente sentada leyendo o tomando café o echando novio o buscando lugarcito caliente o simplemente no haciendo nada.

Santa Monica, especially around the promenade area, used to be filled with great bookstores, including the beloved Midnight Special. Then the monolithic Barnes & Noble moved in, undersold the independent shops, and drove them out of business. Now B&N is the king kong of the promenade, staffed with no-nothings who dont know Capote from Kaopectate, filled with remainders and bestsellers, and unable to answer intelligent questions with any response other than "If its not in the store, check out the website." The magazine stand inside the store is also pretty lame, getting new issues weeks after the newsstand down the street has them. All in all, this is the McDonalds of bookstores, bland and soulless and sadly a reflection of the world around it. Support an independent bookseller like Book Soup in Hollywood, and boycott corporate culture thieves B&N, Blockbuster Video and Ticketmaster. God bless the indie artists, and the indie retailers!

I do not know what average people who come to this store are looking to buy. But if you are like me and looking for books on medical phenomenon such as color blindness or books on any specific animal, or a book about an ancient civilization, you can forget it! I checked their computer and everything I was looking for was "out of stock". If I had known that the only way to get these books was to order them online, I would not have wasted my time going in the store. I would have ordered from Amazon and be done with it. I had to do that anyway, since this bookstore sucks.

I usually kill time here after work, so traffic can die down first before heading home. Located at the 3rd street promenade. There are parking structures that offer 90 minutes free right around the corner at the end of the block. This barnes and noble is 3 stories. The only reason i am not giving this place five stars is because they used to have chairs near the windows so you can read and also look at the promenade but now they have a line with chairs back to back on the 3rd floor.

I really dont like this Barnes and Noble. The customer service is horrible compared to other stores Ive been to. I asked an employee about one of their displays that was going to be destroyed and he insisted that it was policy for them to be thrown away. I just took one home from a different store and to this he said maybe its a demographic thing. Are you serious!! Youd rather throw it away than give it to a.customer. Thats not how you treat paying customers.

Storico negozio concorrente di Amazon... . locali molto ampi e personale disponibile e competente.

I think these f$$$&@@ big chain stores need to stop with the racial profiling. My son told me that he got stop by the security guard because they dont train theyre employees to disalarm theyre books appropriately. After he showed them the receipt that for some God giving reason he still had it they still keep questioning him.

I love bookstores and this one is in a fantastic location at the end of the 3rd St Promenade. Ive never left empty handed and enjoy spending time browsing around upstairs. The kids selection isnt as good as the store at the Grove, but I love the location here at 3rd st.

A rather large bookstore. Three levels and features a humongous selection of media including a place to buy CDs. What a thing. CDs in 2015. Quite a descent selection too, ranging from modern to quite a large back catalog. Theres a Starbucks in doors as well.

Questionable background music. I remember when you could go to B&N and spend the whole day there, immersed in knowledge and accompanied by Bach and Chopin. Not many sales associates, but the older gentleman on the 3rd floor was very helpful.

I am never one to complain. After 25 mins on hold. Got a guy on the phone who spoke to me like I needed help with my hearing. I wouldt mind if did. Guy was like totally rude. I can see why these guys are going out of business.

One of the biggest bookstores out there. From the third level down, it expands from the smallest of books to the big titles out there. You will always find something in your interest because of how great the variety is.

Its a shame real books are not a thing anymore. I dont know how long this place will survive after the electronic revolution, but in the meantime this is a great place if you still like paper. Its HUGE. The staff is ok

Large selection. They even have music on vinyl and CDs. I like to browse the bargain section. Lots of good deals there especially on coffee-table books. They have a nice children section on the upper level.

This Barnes & Noble is three floors. Theres a variety of goods from books, toys, and games. A third of the second floor was dedicated to toys/puzzles/games while there was a media center and children books.

I walked in here hoping to buy a secret snowflake gift. It was a wonderful experience and at the time they had complimentary gift wrapping supplied by the local high school that was raising money.

If you join, they send coupons plus you save 10 % off your purchase. Its really worth it if you buy a lot of reading material and childrens books and educational toys.

My only complaint about this place is that its three stories and the seats are incredibly uncomfortable...I wish they had better seats so I could spend more time their.

Just a fine bookstore for all of those bookworms like myself. This is the place to look for those novels that you really wanted to read but hard to find copies of.

Its a pretty standard Barnes and Noble. Good place to look for new books, or just to step out of the madness of Santa Monica for a few minutes and get some calm.
