I was just racially profiled by the manager, named Brian. at this Community Thrift Store on Valencia at 17th. He accuses me of taking price tags off of merchandise and trying to exchange them with other tags. After shopping there for over 2 hours trying to buy products for my shop, he asked me to leave after I bring them up to the register, saying things like, "Have you been peeling off tags?" and looking down at me saying, "Look, this one is peeling off too." Excuse me, is it my fault that price tags are falling off. And seriously, the price of a glass bowl was $1.50, do you really think I am going to try to peel that off? I know for a fact he racially profiled me after he excused the other cashier and took over when I came to the front desk. He is ignorant, racist, and discriminatory and cannot understand what has happened to the Mission? People like this who think they can come into the Mission and accuse and discriminate people of color has got another thing coming to them. This has got to stop in the Mission. And mind you, I am a working professional and professor at a college who pays taxes and have been going there many times. So much for supporting the Community Thrift Store. I will never go there ever again. And cops cant do anything about it, and lawyers wont take the case since there is no money involved. So what is there to do? Are we going to have people like this take over the Mission?Everyone, please be aware of Brian, the manager, if you are a person of color, make sure you do not have him as your clerk. He will accuse you and discriminate against you. I still cannot believe he did this to me. Karma.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC organization!! Not only does their GENIUS idea of allowing the donator to CHOOSE where you want your donation dollars to go to, they are EXTREMELY professional and actually Grateful!! After having a terrible experience with a few other local donation stores, I was about to throw my stuff in the trash rather than deal with them. To top it all off, I just had 2 big name donation centers turn me down on a fantastic genuine Italian leather sofa I paid 7K for just 5 years ago. They accepted my couch with open arms and were VERY COURTEOUS AND PROFESSIONAL!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give this wonderful thrift store a chance to make you as HAPPY as I am!!

a note about the staff: be nice to them! theyre mostly people who are too poor to pay off parking tickets and had to do community service instead. theyre probably stressed out and not accustomed to the niceties of customer service. you really want some ingratiating clerk who follows you around asking if you need help blowing your nose? go to nordies. been coming here for years, and have always been able to find a fantastic deal on something. brand new juicy couture dress for $8, barely worn sperry topsiders for $6, sterling silver anchovy forks for $1. i even love the housewares section and have bought many unique pieces there. oh! also great for faux pearls.

Community Thrift is a trove of treasures waiting to be discovered. From vintage clothing to midcentury modern furniture to books to holiday decorations to glassware, there is so much to uncover on every trip. This is a true thrift store without the typical markups you find on vintage items. Everything is donated (you can drop items off every day right on the side of the building) and the proceeds go directly to various charities designated by the donor. Do not pass this store by!

This is how thrift shops should be ran. Since most folks that live in San Francisco all travel a bit. They tend to horde a bit so this store supplements and puts use to the old and classic things your find at community thrift. When in SfF I always visit and check what they have behind the counter in collectibles. Also benefits community non profits with cash donations.

Amazingly eclectic collection of stuff partly because of their acquisition method: donors bring things there to support causes which dont have their own store, and tell community thrift who should get the proceeds. Over 100 different local nonprofits to choose from. Its a bit gloomy inside, but do are most charity thrift stores.

This is one of the messier thrift stores Ive been to, but Ive actually found some good pieces here. You have to search a lot and you should definitely wash anything you pick up, but there is a lot to go through. There are sections for clothes, shoes, and housewares.

Donated here on behalf of La Casa de Las Madres. They have a reciprocal program that benefits this womens home. Cant speak to the shopping experience, but they take donations through a pull-up in the alley between Mission and Valencia and provide a tax receipt.

If you inquire, they give away mystery boxes of tapes, vinyl and compact discs. You take what they bring you. Being that high bias cassette tapes are out of press, I have acquired a new source to score them, for free! 2 dollar Monster Cable! I like it.

Wow! This thrift store has an impressive selection of items! I love the fact that there are separate racks for designer and vintage items. I saw a gorgeous Robert Cavalli skirt with a $80 price tag! Too bad it wasnt my size...

They were still open but they wouldnt let me in. They seemed more interested in leaving than honouring their posted hours. There are lots of better thrift stores in the area, Id recommend any of them over this place.

My first thrift store experience. The neighbourhood was tad scary, Im not sure Id do this again. With friends maybe, not alone. The stuff they have here is pretty great though. Odd curiosities to rare books.

오래된 물건들을 구경하는 쏠쏠한 재미가 있다. 맘에 들고, 저렴한 액자를 구입해서 더 좋았던 곳!

I always find very interesting things here. One thing that I find odd but Im not sure if its good or bad, is that it seems like they dont clean or really inspect the items they have for sale.

One of the best furniture selections of the thrift store options, although theyre usually priced a little higher. Clothing selection is fairly weak, except for a pretty great jacket section

No luxury there, but everything with a friendly price. It just like a warehouse, you can find whatever you want :P So if you like to dig into the mission, dont miss out this hidden gem :)

This is the biggest thrift store I have been in! Huge selection of items and clothes. Some things seemed a bit dirty and not very organized. Could be worse! Definitely coming back!

Good selection of your normal thrift-store wares. Theyve got tons of stuff, from clothes and shoes to furniture and household accessories, books, records, etc.

Slightly better selection than the other nearby thrift stores. And in the beginning of October they had a few racks dedicated to costumes which was awesome.
