Horrid customer service. Its like a little clique of high schoolers or something. Especially the fake rasta girl with the pink dreadlocks to the floor named Karyn. she thinks that because she is so cool she can treat the customers like crap. when i complained to the manager he said "no way shes such a cool person, she could never be rude". I was flabbergasted. I have never seen such poor customer service in my entire life. Her coworker, a similar styled girl named Kayana, yelled at me that I was not allowed "to engage the other customers" when I started having a conversation with another customer while I was checking out at the counter. I took it to their regional boss and got an apology from him but I would still never go back to this wretched store. Id rather pay 2 pennies more and goto flax, but really I end up ordering the products I need from amazon as they have better prices and awesome customer service. or just making them myself with parts from the hardware store. down with blick! up with D.I.Y. this place is awful, has awful energy, and awful employees, with awful managers. Im taking my THOUSANDS of dollars I spend on my ART REPRODUCTION business elsewhere. Arch in potrero hill is also an awesome alternative to this pit of art-hell.

This is my favorite art supply store in SF -- its affordably priced, and actually parking is fine because theres a lot out back that they validate when you buy something in the store. I usually just take the train though. I wish the area around it was a little less sketchy, but inside is totally bright and clean. Ive gone in for art demos that they advertise on their website, and its super fun. I learned how to finally get my airbrush up and running. The employees are nice people, but the level of knowledge really depends on who you talk to. Ive interacted with some seasoned artists, and some people who had to ask the seasoned artists for help. The only weirdness I ever witnessed was some strange immature behavior from the younger employees (slow service at the register/talking smack about co-workers in front of customers, etc), which I thought was really unnecessary and shows some lacking in the management. I feel like thats par for the course at a big chain art supply store (its not New York Central Art Supply in NYC).

Good selection, decent prices, friendly enough staff I suppose. This place was a lot better to shop at before they started asking everyone to check their bag at the front. That being said, I go in here 3-5x/wk for materials for my business and I have decided to start ignoring the security guard if Im in a rush, and I suggest you do the same, especially if you shop here a lot. They cant really do anything other than yell at you and it can save a lot of time if you are in a rush like I usually am when I come in here, and might help people realize that security culture is unnecessary.

Prices were terrible. Blick brand brushes of poor quality cost $7, and a tiny 2.5 oz bottle of turpentine also cost $7. The bag checking lady was nice, but the guy at the check out was so slow I waited in line for 10 minutes when there were only 2 people making small purchases, and had a negative attitude when I was my turn. I had to run to get a bus and ended up missing it and had to wait for 40 mins.

Like many art supply places of this size, they got it all but maybe not as much as Flax when Flax was located on Market. Expect to pay top dollar if youre not buying from their sales items. My guess is that Blick is located in proximity to expensive Art-teaching institutions and Blick is taking advantage of the demand. I might order online or drive to Michaels if I need to make large purchases.

Great store- staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about products without being pushy. There is a large array of of products from canvases, paint and brushes all the way down to wrapping paper anything they dont have they seem very willing to help you get them. It has always been an enjoyable experience to go there and something I very much look forward too.

The custom framing person helped me design and a cut a mat to a frame I already had. It was for a magazine so we had to cut several windows and I hadnt measure anything out. He understood what I wanted and took care of everything for me - including cutting the articles out and framing it and all I got charged for was the cut mat. Great service.

Blick carries almost everything you would need for small to large projects. Ive picked up everything from journals to pencils to screen-printing materials from this location. Friendly and knowledgable staff. Having to check your bag is a little inconvenient some times, but I can understand based on the foot-traffic around here.

A great art store in a terrible neighborhood. Another enormous temple to crafting full of helpful people and inspiration. Prices are at or beneath what youll pay at any other art supply store and the selection is incredible. It seems to be the first choice of University art teachers all over the Bay for that reason.

Large and amazing art store. The staff is sparse, but once you get their attention, they will go out of their way to make sure you get exactly what you need. I dont know much about the items they sell, but I explained what I wanted to do and they gave me everything I needed.

This Blick has a very large selection of just about any art material you need. They also provide custom board cutting, which can be handy unless you have a large car to carry stuff. Apparently there is parking that requires a minimum purchase ($25?), but Ive never used it.

Although its in the area around civic center, this place is great! I had just become interested in paper cutting and they had all the right materials and some interesting project idea. Its a really cool art store and they have student discounts.

This is truly an art supply store. I felt like a kid in a candy shop. There is open stock so you can stay within budget to test out a new product or buy a whole set at a really good discounted price. The staff really knows their stuff.

Overall Blick is a reliable art store and you can find everything you need. I preferred the old location purely because parking here is a nightmare. If you ever have any questions about the products, theres always somebody here to help.

I love the service here! Theyre always really helpful, but I got a really bad spray finish here... 4 times in a row. BUT theyre super helpful and let me return it multiple times until I got one that actually worked!

Amazing selection of supplies for artists from the professionals to novices. Very helpful staff and a beautiful store. Although it seems that Blick offers better prices on some of these items at its online outlet.
