Decent mall, only major large 1 in downtown San Diego, CA. Closes earlier than most malls in the county. Has several unusual or specialty stores than most malls (like Fashion Valley Mall). Multilevel mall, mainly open air, mostly not enclosed or covered. Unusual architecture, decor, colors, layout; beautiful variety & interesting if you have time to enjoy; layout can be frustrating if you are in hurry to get around. Has elevators, for mall & parking lots levels. Mall levels & elevator levels IDs inconsistent & do not match. Free Wi-Fi, name/SSID = "_Free Westfield WiFi". Decent speed when not overloaded or congested. Some stores provide their own WiFi service also. Has the comedy club, Madhouse! Normally every day. Still has movie theater UA Horton Plaza, the only remaining standard movie theater in downtown. Now 8 theaters (reduced from previous 14). Recently they cut back on hours, not showing late movies (latest start up to ~ 8pm) (at least weekdays? ). Lots of paid parking, mostly multilevel parking structures. They will validate some parking time period for free (may vary by store) (~ 2-3hrs?). There are a few self serve parking validation machines in mall. Nice outdoor game deck/area. Has giant outdoor chess & checkers boards/sets. Sometimes they bring out more games, rarer recently. A lot of stores have closed permanently or moved. Alarming number. With few new stores opening or replacing. Nordstrom closed; the other big dept. stores remain, like Macys. Someone created nice mall/building model for Google Maps. Notes. 4M = mall level 5. G = ground level; in elevators, label is ST (street). -1, -2 = below ground levels, mainly elevators to Lyceum theater; elevator labels T1 & T2. P# = Parking specific labels or levels. Inconsistent labels/IDs for mall levels & elevator labels, can be confusing; check mall directories, & elevators have mall levels sign with a few major mall stores or points listed.

Reporting this mall to the Feds at 9:30 AM for violating Federal Regulations specified under the ADA/Americans With Disabilities Act and for potential FTC business violations. If you have a disabled loved one, I urge you to boycott this mall and support the disabled. The disabled have the right to equal access when it comes to services provided by all American businesses and to equal fair treatment by those American businesses. Just because I have a cleft pallette and a severe hearing loss, that does not give Horton Plaza Mall and Westfield the legal right to deny services that it provides to non-disabled Americans. I spoke to the non-emergency police dispatcher and he said that he agreed with me and he was the one who provided the ADA FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HOTLINE NUMBER. I urge all disabled Americans to exercize their rights granted to them by the ADA and to report all businesses that violate our civil liberties. Discrimination of any type is Anti-American and the ADA says so. Update: There was no need to report the Horton Plaza Security to the ADA HOTLINE thanks to four Federal Police Agents being half a block away parked near the courthouse crosswalk inside 3 Federal Law Enforcement Vehicles. I reported Horton Plaza Malls Security for ADA Discrimination/Illegal Criminal Profiling, and I reported their Mall for being in violation of Federal ADA Emergency Exit regulations. Seriously people, if there is a earthquake or fire at this mall, the resulting panic/stampede/confusion is going to likely result in the deaths of many mall occupants many of them will likely be the elderly/ children/physically disabled. The 4 Federal Agents agreed that it was a nightmare scenario which could very well occur.

Do not shop at AG Jewelers. This place is the biggest fraud you will ever find! They have girls giving everyone passing by some cheesy compliments to get them in the store. The products inside look nice, however they are of horrendous poor quality. How they have managed to get away with it i dont know. They use hard selling tactics & wont leave you alone until you buy something. The item i bought was selling at $200 but i managed to get 40% off. However looking at the quality, I knew i was being ripped off still when i bought the item. They dont give you any official guarantee booklets or a manual or anything. I was asked if i wanted the item in a box (should automatically come in one anyway). I didnt mind that much as i still liked the item & couldnt find the same one anywhere online. However 1 month later, the item had fallen to pieces (due to poor quality). The store dosent do refunds, only exchanges, i wonder why? (suprise suprise). I decided to have another look on Ebay & the same item that had been sold to me for $130 was being sold brand new in a range of different colors on Ebay for $20 or best offer! Dont waste your valuable time in a store that dosent sell valuable items!

What a mess! It is so difficult to get around - it seemed that every time we wanted to go up or down, the only way across was an escalator going the opposite direction, so we had to walk all the way to the end to get where we wanted. Looked at the map and found the shop we wanted - good luck actually locating it in real life though, as you go up 3 stairs and youve magically changed levels! The food court was horrible, and had nothing that was appealing to eat - oh, half of the food venues were closed as well, at lunch time mind you. There were homeless people playing loud music on one table, and another homeless person literally digging leftover food from the garbage bins of the food court. Walked past every shop in the venue, and only went in about 3 of them - lots of shops that had no appeal. Easily one of the worst shopping experiences Ive ever had.

In addition to "Bath & Body Works" being a dealer to the product I had interest in. I called to to comment about the webdesign: the excessive undersize contact information. (as we are all getting older). When I called as I "ask for the manager." So to comment "about the webdesign." She/manager tell me "Thats a corporate issue; its out of my hand." Sure, we know that. But she still not accept to listen to my comment meantime. As it be some time until "corporate" being open. I called originally to speak about a Product that be inventoried. As the manager never asked Can I help you with anything else? BBW be more concerned about saving $ on their webdesign, in addition to their high prices. So to assure more profit for their co. This is why we as society have EBAY, etc.

Ive had a lot of memories associated with this mall, so Ill always have a soft spot for it, but honestly its just annoying to get to, navigate, and shop at. Its in the middle of downtown which makes it occasionally convenient and always scenic...but with walkways that cut across multiple levels and tricky stairs, you end up having a hard time actually shopping unless youre seasoned. Also, recently theyve started charging 2 dollars per 15 minutes past 1 hour. That means it isnt a place you can hang out at for very long. I get it, since everyone used the parking garage for downtown parking, but it makes no sense for a mall. Theyve done this in the past and it didnt last, so hopefully it changes back eventually!
