I went to Mixons as I had just moved into the neighborhood. It was late at night and they had sandwiches made earlier in the day so I went there. I grabbed a sandwich from their case, that they had made themselves, and found the weight of it told me it could not have much inside it as it was very light. I picked up a few others and found the same thing. When I said something to the clerk he told me he was the manager and had made those sandwiches himself. When I commented that I was new in the area and that this made me feel like going elsewhere and if he had only made sandwiches that had something in them he would have me and probably others as regulars. He did not care and even told me that he had been making sandwiches for 10 years at this location. Just think of all that money he saved over the years by shorting sandwiches. Was it worth all those that walked out unsatisfied and never come back? The attitude was what got me most.

Yes, the "ambiance" is a bit lacking, but this place makes some KILLER sandwiches! Theyre not proud or haughty, just consistently good. They are a little bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Every person Ive taken here has been amazed because theyve paid twice this amount for a BLT at Princess Pub or some other trendy stop in Little Italy and gotten half as much with a fraction of the taste. If you want good food, fast, go here! Youll see blue and white collars rubbing elbows and enjoying themselves. ENJOY!

Hey I know homeless people need assistance, but come on! There appears to be one of those shelters (i.e. rundown seedy hotel *wink, wink*) across the street and it looks like Mixons is now starting to hire them to clean the store and MAKE THE FOOD! Im all for diversity but man! Some of the people they have touching the food just look unsanitary!

Good alternative to 7-Eleven. There isnt a huge selection of food, but if you want reasonably priced beer and snacks, come check this place out. Only downside is it closes pretty early (10:30 pm), so late-night party-goers are out of luck!

This deli is definitely the best place I have experienced in a long time, this small deli puts jersey mikes to shame, I highly recommend stopping here if you want good food, excellent service at a great price!

The store is very old fashioned, and kind of unappealing, but the deli saves it. Nice staff, great food made fresh to order, reasonable prices and a good selection. Its a hidden gem worth checking out.

One of the other reviewers got it right: a good alternative to 7-11...because it is better. Their freshly made sandwiches are terrific and it is huge inside. A lot of convenience food.and places to sit.

Ate here nearly every lunch for a year...not a crazy gourmet sandwich like Bread and Cie, but a filling and consistent lunch for under $10. Service is straightforward and efficient.

This place has a liquor license thats grandfathered in and you can buy single bottles out of a six pack... and the deli is pretty good the sandwiches and soups right "on"!
