We live in Seattle but often come to San Diego to visit family in Mission Hills. Heartwork has become our go-to coffee spot, and not just because its very walkable and near lots of other fun cafes and shops. We like Heartwork first and foremost because the beans they use are delicious and because the baristas consistently know how to pull a good shot. The place is always clean and- bonus for us- there is always something yummy and vegan in the bake case. Last time we went we bought a couple pounds of coffee and they gave us our drinks on the house. Awesome. It also has a sweet ambiance. Simple and relaxing. You can sit outside on the sidewalk or inside at the window or one of the tables. Its a straightfoward spot that doesnt pretend to be anything other than a coffee bar serving really excellent coffee, and for that, we will keep coming back.

My friend found this place when she searched "vegan mocha" and Im so glad she did because its an awesome place! We found paid street parking around the corner very easily and noticed the neighborhood of this coffee shop is pretty cute and walkable if you want to take a stroll afterwards. I ordered a vegan mocha with almond milk and it was delicious even though it was served slightly too cold. Maybe by not heating up the almond milk long enough? It came with cute latte art in the shape of a heart too, which almost made up for it being served a tad too cold. A huge bonus of this place for me is that they also serve vegan pastries and I got a small delicious vegan savory puff pastry that had soy chorizo on top. Yum. I had a good experience visiting this coffee shop and would recommend it to others who are in the immediate area.

I just returned with two Cappuccinos to go. Unfortunately I didnt open them in the shop before I left (for my one minute ride home) because I would have returned them. Yesterday I had a five star Cappuccino. Today, I had a two star Cappuccino, thus the 3 star rating. Its a shame this place is inconsistent among its baristas. I will now not go back. Both yesterday and today, I ordered "wet" Cappuccinos with almond milk. What I got yesterday was a beautifully, perfectly done wet Cappuccino. "Wet" should mean the same to all the baristas. "Wet" does not mean a Latte with no foam whatsoever.

Friendly, cute and delicious coffee. This is one of those new coffee shops doing pour overs and what not, but also doing delicious cappuccinos and lattes. Stopped in on a drive by and was greeted by friendly baristas. Id return!

Best coffee in San Diego. Hospitality from the heart, with incredible music filling the air. My favorite drink, Oat Milk Mocha with an add shot. Vegan lemon poppyseed cake.
