This place sold me a car and when I brought up the fact that the loan papers that they wanted me to sign had my former last name on them, they suddenly removed their "sold " sign from the car (in front of me), began to tell me that My credit report showed I had not applied for any kind of credit in seven years. They went on to treat me as though I was a scam artist or something and implied that they really thought I was someone else pretending to be me! (Really? Of all the people in the world that I could think of to impersonate, I somehow thought my best bet would be to pretend I am a woman that lost her career of 10 years, her house, her marriage of 12 years, her husband, her vehicle and finally her sanity all within a six month period, resulting in her credit score plummeting beyond any words that could even come close to the devastated mess known as my horrific new life, living now on my own, with no job, no home, divorced, with a now ex-husband continuing to ruin what I built for our family. Instead of completely losing what was left of my mind, I chose to love someone that has never had anything to his name. I got a minimum wage job working with the homeless, and to this day, I rely on RTA and ride a bus everywhere I have to go. I own nothing, I rent a two bedroom shack in the ghetto and could not apply for credit anywhere on earth even if I could dream up a fictional place in my head that would say, "Hey! We will give you an opportunity to rebuild your credit! Have no fear! We can see that at one time in your life, you actually paid a house off, paid a vehicle loan off and rented an apartment complex for a sober living community for umteenth years. We have faith in your ability to pay a monthly car payment! Sure, Im not the sharpest tool in the shed so to speak, but Im also not the dullest crayon in the box. Give me some credit (ha, ha, ha!!). Yeah, that joke came from me... because my rented shack is directly next door to a homeless encampment. And, I have to say, even they could come up with a better identity to steal than, the horror that is my reality and that I relive everyday that I am not preoccupied with caregiving for my second husband, you know.... the one that has never owned or had given to him, anything in life? Yeah, he just got diagnosed with congestive heart failure and already had end stage liver failure. So, now he is on hospice and all I can do is smile. Because, even with all of the personal trauma and horrific situations I have lived with in my life, I look at the people I work with and glance at my dying spouse and know that I am BLESSED!!! I have a husband that truly loves me and I work with some of the most amazing people in life. And, if I didnt get beat down over Nd over by places like CARMAX, that went out of their way to make me feel like a second class citizen and were WRONG FOR DOING IT! I would have never met the love of my life and found the best place to work! I would have missed out on helping someone walk through some of the most heart wrenching situations I have ever heard of and I would not remember that its people and relationships that matter in this word... not possessions or stupidity. My life today reminds me to remain..... HUMBLE. CARMAX, YOU CAN KEEP YOUR CAR and YOUR CREDIT! I am the one and the same person whether I have credit or dont qualify for zip. I dont need a car that bad!! Its unfortunate that your employees first thought was that I must be some sort of identity thief... WOW! Thats all I have to say. Dignity, simple respect and the benefit of the doubt still go a long way in this world.... You should try instilling some into some of your staff sometime!

I have been to this shop on a number of occasions, as a customer and introducing friends and family to the CarMax experience. Recently, I intended to sell the shop my 2014 Fiat with Victor Ly. As usual thanks went smoothly. Victor asked me what I was in the market to purchase. I told him I was interested in an offroad vehicle, possibly a Jeep. Shortly thereafter I found a nice 2014 Jeep Wrangler Rincon model in Texas. I paid the fees and had it shipped to Riverside. I would have given the shop a Five-Star rating, but a few hiccups blemished the would be flawless experience. As I was completing my transaction, the shop computer system took a dump. The wife and I had already spent six-hours there and now I was told to comeback the next day to complete the transactions. I had to accomplish some major work schedule adjustments to make things happen. To say it was an inconvenience would be an understatement. A week later, I had to bring the Jeep back in for the installation of a LoJack system. I had purchased the latest "Early Warning" system. What was installed was the "Basic" system. I tried to resolve the issue with the service attendant at CarMax, but she was clueless. She had no idea what LoJack offered and what needed to be to resolve the problem. It was my opinion that if you are going to sell a product, be familiar with the product and the capabilities of the shop. So I had to meet with several CarMax managers to resolve the issues with the LoJack installation. Another week later, my entire transaction was completed. Even though I experienced a series of glitches, the staff was quite understanding and tired to make the experience better for me and my wife. Bottom line: I will continue to go to the Riverside CarMax and I will continue to recommend the shop to my friends and family. My recent visit was not the norm and I know they will always treat their customers and potential customers well. Next to I will give them five-stars; that I am sure of!...

Had great experience with purchase and sales person. But it was when I tried to take advantage of vehicle return policy where carmax failed to disclose to me how it really worked. traded in my car for a new car and put 2k down due to negative equity. No biggie. Wanted to bring my vehicle back for return and get my 2k back and talked loan manager and bring it in and meet with your sales person. Upon having my sales person run all over the place to get approved for return he comes back and tells me my car I traded in was long gone. So I cant get that back. My 2k that I put down I could not get back either. I said what if I could just refinance and get my 2k back since I choose to put that money in anyways and now you dont have my car to give back. At least give me my 2k back and Ill just pay the difference in monthly payment. sales person said every loan manager he talked to said I couldnt get it back even though I called just prior and said it was ok just refinance. So not only was the return policy not clear and made it seem like a great carmax feature but carmax failed to disclose that fact that if you trade in a car it is completely gone and if you put money down that is gone also. So beware and if you buy a car outright from carmax and not do a trade in then maybe their return policy is more useful in that sense, but Im sure there are some rules that get throw in your face when that time comes that point and carmax comes out on top and not the customer.
