People dont seem to grasp the idea of patience, they want everything NOW and if you dont get it for them NOW they walk away with sneers on their faces. For those of you upset about someone not finding something even though it says its there...why dont you step outside the box a tiny bit and think about the other customers in the store and how they might have picked up the book and put it in some random place or LEFT IT on a table for someone else to pick up for them. Its disgusting how lazy people are, have some respect for the people who are HELPING you find what you need. You cant blame those who work at this store or any other store like it if you decided to wait until the last minute to try and get something you need...you can only blame yourself! If you have a young child make sure they are respectful...your kid ruining a book has a huge effect, the next person wont want to buy it which means less money for the company which means less hours which means less people there to help you and ultimately down the road means that the store will no longer be there for you! Think about that the next time you have to wait a few minutes, "well maybe the company is trying to manage their hours so they dont end up in the hole, maybe I should just be a little more patient and put myself in their shoes". By the way, if you call a store early, you cant expect the people working there to be ready for customers, thats why they post the time they are open...the fact that the man answered the phone was probably his best attempt to help you even though, as a supervisor, he most likely had plenty to do before opening the store. Lastly, how childish is it to comment on the appearance of a person just because they asked you to stop your child from ruining something?! People like you need to take the stick out of your bum and realize that you were in the wrong and deal with it. =) Ive worked in customer service for years and these people were nothing but nice to me when I had to purchase books for school.

Its horrible. The people arent very happy to help at all, they give you a rude look when you ask for something, and not at all welcoming. A few years ago they took away the magazine seating area, took away chairs, and patched up all the wall plugs to make sure nobody charges their phones or laptops. Barnes and Noble doesnt even give coupons. Its why competition is so important. Borders always welcomed customers with friendly service, constantly gave 40% off coupons every week, and never acted as selfish as B&N has. I just get everything from Amazon now or go to the library nearby. Highly recommend the Montclair mall B&N, they have more in stock, starbucks seating area, more inventory and they arent greedy with letting people relax and read a book. Well worth the extra drive.

I thought one of the few advantages of brick-and-mortar bookstores was the welcoming environment and the ability to go there and study or quietly hang out for a little while. Not so at this store. The employees are not that friendly, there are no tables, there are few chairs and the ones there are are bolted to the wall, and although there is very mediocre wifi, they get upset if you plug in and with nowhere to sit and put your laptop or books theres no point in it anyway. I generally make it a point to buy from any store that has wifi and is gracious about allowing me to use it, but due to the unwelcoming staff and environment, I put the books I was going to buy back on the shelves and left to go to the library.

The customer service was horrible today. I know it is the holidays. But come on!. On the phone waiting for six minutes. I hung up and called back and the woman had a horrible attitude with me. I have worked in customer service and as long as you want to continue to have customers, you need to find a balance between the one that are there and the potential ones. In addition to the fact that the lady answering the phone was rude, the second lady said that a book I requested should up in stock but she could not find it on the shelfs. This means the floor people are not doing a very good job either. In the busy season, I feel it is only appropriate to hire enough help. I am pretty sure corporate would be disappointed.

Had the WORST EXPERIENCE at this place (not one to write reviews). Went to B&Ns with my wife and son with the intention of purchasing a Microsoft Excel self help book. While my wife was browsing the clearance section a sales associate named Jeff (approximately 6 ft with many facial acne scars) demanded that the 3 year old get off a $2.00 SNL clearance board game (honestly, the kid was just sitting down). No please/no thank you. He then sarcastically asked me if I wanted to buy it after I was trying to get the facts straight about the initial incident. An enjoyable experience with the family at a franchise that is trying to survive the I.T. age (e-books, etc) became as disturbing as the sales associates appearance.

I LOVE B&N, but this one in particular is the worst ive been to. Most of people who work there have been rude. There are very few chairs and when I cant get one, I try to sit on the floor, but I get rudley told to get up. Always. Even though im handicap and need somewhere to sit. On top of it, theres no Starbucks anymore. I just study at starbucks or the library now. :(

My daughter likes to read A LOT, we are here at least twice a week. Every time we come everyone here is super helpful. I appreciate that LANCE, took the time to go over books with my daughter and even wrote a list of books he suggested she read. Thank you for continuing to peak her interest, I appreciate all of you here!!

I remember when it was a book store, now its a junk shop with toys everywhere, collectables, but mostly toys, which is not what I want my kids to see when Im shopping for a book for them to be interested in......when I asked about it I got ignored.....just looked at me and said nothing.....

Always very organized, great stationery and gift section. It is easy to quickly figure out whether or not they have what youre looking for. The employees are helpful, professional, and kind. The only bummer is they dont have a café! But thats ok! Its clean and smells like new books!

The employees are rude. They have no respect for customers and could careless if they loose customers. I will never return to this store. I cannot believe the owner of the store has not improved customer service based on all these scores. This place is a reck. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

I tend to agree with the reviewers before me. This store doesnt seem to have the luster it once had when it opened. The Starbucks connected to the store is a great idea, but its rather small as most of its seating is outside. Overall, its not the first bookstore Id choose to go to.
