Orchard Supply Hardware recently did a big remodel of their store. With that, it looks like their business strategy is changing too, which I think is awesome. Have you ever gone into a Home Depot, attracted by their selection and prices, had a simple question about a product, but it would take you like 10 minutes just to find one employee for help? And when you get there there are like 5 other customers vying for his/her attention already? At Home Depot, theres probably a correlation between price saved and amount of employees youll find. At Orchard Supply Hardware, I went this past weekend getting a whole new experience that may push me to never go back to HD or Lowes again. You walk in, and its actually very pleasant to be there. There are scores of employees there to greet you and help you. I am just an average homeowner looking to save money on DIY projects. And so, no, I really dont know that much about hardware products unless I spend tons of time researching online. And having someone actually come up to you, while youre staring at 3 different types of joint compounds with zero clue on what the difference is and which one I actually need, and asking if you need help, is a profoundly refreshing experience at a hardware store. I found this experience at the painting section, the hardware aisle, the checkout-everyone was knowledgeable and helpful. To top it off, the prices were very reasonable and the checkout was fast. I remember leaving this weekend, "Man, that was like the best experience Ive had at a hardware store. Im gonna write them a review." And so there it is.

Dont come here when there is not a real manger, like night time on the weekends, me personally wont come back, unhelpful employees giving bad directions not following through, customer service section is pointless, employees interrupt cashier after you waited in line. Btw, not sure if the automated key place works, never got a recipe as promised, but the employee my wife managed to track down said it was better than there system. Hmmmm. Lesser of two evils, machine made no sense either, sucked to do three keys. Moral of the story, dont lose your keys.

Friendly staff just dumb as bricks about some of their stock. Asked for lamp oil over a couple months time, repeatedly was told out of stock, they couldnt make the connection that the kerosene and Klean Heat Kerosene Heater Fuel Alternative which they did have in stock would work just fine in kerosene oil lamps. Theyve done this a couple times with specialty spray paints, they told me they didnt have, I had to point out to them the can sitting on the shelf in the locked paint cabinet.

Literally the best customer service I have EVER received...perhaps anywhere. A woman with brown hair quickly came to my aid as I was looking for spray paint. She opened up the cabinet, asked me what type of project I was working on, and didnt even become bothered by my indecisiveness in all the pastel pinks they had to offer. I currently live directly across from a hardware store, but this place definitely will be getting all of my future business.

First disclaimer - I know nothing about painting, hardware, etc... But I had the idea of painting some furniture (for once in my life, feel like I am being creative) so I went to Orchard Supply Hardware, with a bit of apprehension. It turned out to be a great experience: there is A LOT of staff (so you dont need to wait for 10 minutes to find someone available), they are super knowledgeable and answer every question (even very stupid ones)

Its decent for a local hardware store. The prices arent the cheapest. The reason I rated it three stars is because the two old ladies that work in the paint department are obnoxiously ornery. Its not that Ive had a bad run-in with them, but every time I watch them interact with someone its flat-out rude. I understand that dealing with the public is a difficult task, but at that age, and with that attitude, its probably time to retire.

Went to get a plumbing part, but the person for that department ignored customers and chatted with a friend of his in another language, until several customers got upset enough to bug another employee to get him to help them. In the end I got him to help me after he went back to talking with his friend, telling me to wait a few minutes, and they didnt have the part I needed. Ended up going to red supply nearby, a plumbing supply.

SHOP HERE! Dont waste your time with Home Depot or Lowes. At Orchard you will find friendly help quickly and easily when you need it. The store is super clean and organized. Im usually in and out within 15 minutes with everything on my list. I will never shop at Home Depot or Lowes again after going to Orchard. Id give more than 5 stars if I could.

The staff at OSH were very very helpful. There was always someone around to answer questions and everybody kept asking if I needed any help or if there could get something for me. The selection is a little smaller than Lowes or Home Depot, which is a good thing as youre still likely to find what you need but a lot faster than those other places.

They have a wide selection of inventory. The store is always clean, organized, and it is easy to find things. If you cant, someone is at the door greeting people and answering questions. The employees are very helpful and provide good service. We also get our Christmas tree here. The prices cant be beat.

Where are the employees? Ive been there a dozen times and probably only had one person ask if they can help me. Ill walk up and down the isles looking for someone to help me, but can never find anyone. More often than not, Ive left the store without even buying anyting.

I got a piece of glass for free, because the person helping me found it in the scrap bin. Thanks! Edit: on another visit I was pointed to two 6 extension cords, as they were cheaper than 12 of cord from the spool... Who would have thought? Either way, thanks!

Orchard has a huge inventory, and very friendly staff. They have wood, garden supplies, paint, household cleaning supplies and organizers, lawn furniture, etc. We needed a piece of wood cut to certain specifications and they took care of it, no problem.

Store makeover looks so great. It is easy to find stuff, and plenty of staff to help you. I like OSH a lot. Its a spiffy operation that earned the 5 stars Im giving it. Also people who work there are very nice, and that goes a long way with me.

They have nice stuff. One time I was there for a sale that they advertised.... Their credit card machines were down, so we had to wait in line for over an hour to buy our stuff. They should have given us a discount for putting up with that...

Staff is not very helpful, if you can find them. Easier store to navigate than home depot. Better overall. Experience. Still room for improvement.
