There were several negative reviews about this place a few weeks ago that have mysteriously disappeared. They were mostly about how over-priced this place is. My negative review was about donating here. Let me start by saying that I had the most pleasant donation experience at the 10960 Santa Monica Blvd location some number of months back. I showed up with many boxes of stuff without realizing the policy of not allowing toys. The lady working there was incredibly patient and helpful, and helped me select those items that could be donated. I left feeling very good about Council of Jewish Women, and the itemized receipt was incredibly handy. Contrast that with my experience on Oct 23 at this location (12120 Venice Blvd). I had about 5-6 boxes/bags of clothes, books, etc to donate. After taking a look in a single box and seeing some books that were not in the best shape the employee here told me they couldnt take anything. I asked for his manager to take a look and after looking in a single box he said they dont take toys and dismissed everything as well. I protested that there was other stuff to look at, but they wouldnt give me the light of day! It was the most frustrating experience donating anything anywhere! I had such a pleasant experience donating to this organization the first time that I guess my expectations were too high. Sadly it makes me reluctant to donate anything to Council of Jewish Women in the future.

Worst customer service today. Because theres no fitting room, youre forced to buy and then try on at home. Bought some jeans, were to small, exchanged for another pair... those were to big. Went back to exchange again, already a massive hassle. And they wound not let me exchange again. Saying you can only exchange one time. And that is not listed anywhere. There is a sign saying you only have 3 days to exchange but nothing on the one exchange policy. And its not like I was asking cash back, just for another exchange. What kind of customer service is that to deny it? Whats the reasoning? Manager just said, thats the policy! Ive been in customer service along time and this just blew my mind. Ive been going to this thrift store 2/3 a month and now will never return. I ended up just leaving my already paid for jeans that were to big there, no use for them. Thanks a lot people. Happy Holidays

5/7/2016 - Recently visited this go to location of the Council Thrift Shop and the cashier was sooooo rude. Generally speaking this is not the 1st time theyve conducted themselves this way. The cashier accused me of changing price tags on two simple white vases that I purchased. The thing is...there was a group of 4, had I changed the tag on them ALL why wouldnt I buy them all. After I brought this to her attention, she stated that ppl change tags all the time and shed priced them earlier at double the price. This was sooo surrealing to me. I wont patronize this shop any longer. Purchased 3 large/extra long scarves and a shorter one. Only complaint is that pricing isnt consistent...Eric is very helpful and always willing to meet you halfway on pricing of most items. This location is much more affordable than their Hollywood location.

The items are indeed overpriced, and not the best of any thrift store Ive been in. I do donate to them, but dont get anything. One good thing about donating is that they send you an actual valuation for your donation and are quite generous with their estimates. The one good thing Ive gotten there is wine glasses: we are extremely hard on our glassware, and I pick them up there for about $1.00 a glass. There is a thrift store on Washington Blvd. across the street from the Sony studios which is outstanding: check that one out. I got a $395.00 pair of Arche boots for $10.00. I doubt they were worn more than once or twice. Their stuff is amazing...

Horrible service... Rude, and demeaning. I asked the price of a painting (which is a horrible painting I would have bought as a joke), and they asked what I wanted to pay. I told them and they laughed at me, and said "Its worth way more then that..." They didnt even tell me what they wanted for it, and I didnt even bother to ask. Its a thrift store, no one there needs to be uppity about anything there. I love thrift store shopping, but will never set foot in here again, due to attitudes and over-pricing...

I love this thrift store! Yes, their prices are higher than Goodwill and Salvation Army stores but the quality is much higher and well worth the expense if you are a discerning shopper. I especially appreciate that they hang the jeans by approximate size so that I dont have to look at every pair to find the plus sizes. They frequently have buy two get one free sales so I love to shop with a friend and split the savings.

Nice Selections: Sometimes but WAAAY Overpriced!!! They charge a lot for used items. Go to Ebay instead. Shoes that you can buy at Marshalls or Ross for $10 theyll give it to you here for $20 and USED. I was here few times, some newcomers I talked to say theyre not coming back anymore. A lady who goes there a lot told me they give really cheap prices to hispanic only because all of them but 1 are hispanic.

The big drawback of this store is that they dont have a changing room. They give you two days to return the merchandise but who wants to do that? The store is fairly well organized. I felt the workers were disinterested. Ive been to their shop on Fairfax and the workers are way more helpful. Metered street parking only. It is highly unlikely I will go back to this store.

Its the best donation place. You drop off the items, they issue you a receipt, about one or two weeks later you receive another receipt with accurate estimate of the donation value. Neither Salvation Army nor Goodwill will do this for you!

My wardrobe is full of their stuff. The electronics section is a bit slim but now and then there is a gem among the slag.

Extremely high prices for a thrift shop, and ancient damaged items that are heavily abused.
