My husband and I recently purchased a new Maytag Bravos gas washer and dryer from Southbay Appliance in Gardena, California. We chose them in part because they are an authorized Maytag dealer. When they installed the new dryer, they used an exhaust hose made of shiny metal foil to vent it to the outside. We later discovered that the manual that came with our dryer has a very prominent warning against the use of such exhaust hoses because they pose a severe fire hazard. The manual clearly states that only metal or semi-flexible metal ducting should be used. This warning is repeated several times in the manual. Moreover, both the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Consumer Reports have published the same information. I called Southbay Appliance about this situation twice and spoke with a salesperson whose only response was that they always install dryers this way and have never had a problem. He said he would pass my concerns on to the Service Manager. We then called Maytag and were informed that the use of foil ducting material could void the dryers warranty. We have since replaced the exhaust hose ourselves with the recommended equipment. However, we never heard further from Southbay Appliance. Based on this experience, we will never do business with this company again.

I can barely contain my dismay with South Bay Appliance or Spears or whatever they want to call themselves... I ordered a very simple, but very important part for a refrigerator, and was told it would take a couple of days... well a couple of days past and so I called to check on its delivery. Well, come to find out that not only was the part never ordered, they didnt even have any of my contact information in their computer. To me this is just another indication of how unconscious they are and shows their lack of respect and concern for their customers... Next time Ill pay more attention to reviews listed, most of which rated this company quite LOW. And to think I was almost going to purchase a major appliance from them...

Bought a matching Speed Queen washer (AWN532) and dryer (ADG4BRG) from South Bay Appliance. I went in knowing what I wanted, the sales staff were very helpful, pointing out operating and maintenance tips. No pressure to up-sale me on any other more expensive (and profitable) brands. Delivery was on time and professional. Will definitely go back for my next major appliance purchase. Appliances are all they sell and they service what they sell so they know their merchandise inside and out. Dont bother with the major retailers or big box stores, this local mom & pop store offers the quality customer service you expect.

I have an old maytag dryer & usually fix it with myself (sometimes with little help of YouTube videos). As you may know, finding parts can be really challenging & ordering online is way cheaper but sometimes may take weeks. I have to say they never disappoint me & every single time, I will call before & they make part ready & I just go pick it up same day. I Have special thanks to the lady who works in the part section, She is very knowledgeable & always give great "life saving" advise about little tiny details that even YouTube videos forgetting about it.

I had been to many big box stores that had no clue other than take an order with no product knowledge. I finally ended up at Spears after a friend recommended them for the excellent sales staff that knows the products inside and out. After giving dimensions, several choices were presented and I decided on a GE Profile kitchen set. They were delivered on time as promised and wow everything fit perfectly and operated the same as well! I Am a very happy customer.

Ive been out of the area for almost 20 years, but it was great to learn that this family business is still around. I needed service for my parents who still live in the area. My parents old refrigerator was done for, and they took care of everything for us from the requested service call to replacement - on the same day! Its nice to know that dependability and honesty still exist.

South Bay Appliance came out the same day and completely looked over my dryer, replaced the necessary parts and fixed my dryer. They were reasonably priced, professional and quick. I tried Sears first but they charged twice as much, kept me waiting, and then never fixed the dryer. They wanted me to wait a week to come back. Forget Sears - go to South Bay Appliance for great service

I walked in to order some parts for my Oven. Although they didnt have the part I was looking for they were very helpful. As I was waiting I checked their showroom and I saw some amazing deals. I definitely will check their store before buying my next appliance.
