Well, I bought my Mongoose Otero Super 09 at this shop because there was an awesome deal. 799 - 150 brings it to 649. There was a little scratch on the fork, but nothing noticeable so the price was discounted by 15%. Overall, it cost me ~$550 without tax. Ok, There was something wrong with the bike - the rear shock was defective. The travel on the thing is not as advertised - 1 inch with air, zero travel visibility without. Checked others and noticed a big difference. I take my bike to the shop to have it warrantied. That was a week ago. I called today at 1pm to check on the status and was told that the mechanic would give me a call back. Its 5:30pm now. I gave them a call at 5pm to ask to speak with the mechanic. Ive now been on hold for 30 minutes. Unbelievable. I have unlimited minutes so Im going to wait to see how long it takes till they pick up. Update: Its been almost 2 weeks since my bike has been in their shop. I have received no word from them on the status of the bike. My last phone call, they told me that my bike will be processed as a warranty maintenance. The guy on the phone told me he didnt know if it was processed yet. I asked for an estimate on how long it would take and he said he did not know. He did not know anything. What is wrong with these people? Bringing down the rating from 2 stars to 1.

I am a new comer to cycling. I walked into the store & purchased a cruiser. Took it out for a ride & discovered, although I am new, this bike was not enough for me & I needed a bike with more power & gears. Performance Bicycle helped me pick out a bike that fit my needs now, & will continue to do so as I grow as a new cyclist. Not only did they help me with the choice of my bike, they fit the bike to me & explained everything from A to Z. I never felt pressured & they let me test ride as many bikes as I wanted. They were amazing! Chris, Noreen and Tim were totally awesome! They made me feel very comfortable, especially as a newbie & feeling a little insecure. I walked out of the store feeling that my new bike & I can conquer the world! I love my new bike! Thank you Performance Bicycle!!! They have great sales & you can earn money towards your purchases. Your customer service is excellent in my book & I look forward to doing business with you.I will highly recommend you to anyone that ask & doesnt. Its great to shop at a store that has wonderful customer service.

Excellent customer service. Bought 2 mountain bikes for my wife and I here 5 years ago. Everytime we come back, the staff were always helpful. We came here 3 weeks ago to change the tires on our bikes and Chris helped us. Chris was extremely helpful and was honest when making recommendation based on practical purpose rather then trying to sell us the most expensive product. Today I came to the store with the intention of buying a road bike. Again, Chris was there helping me. He took his time to help. The store was busy with customers but I was never ignored. He made sure the bike fit me exactly the way it should. He replaced a part so I was sitting in the right position. I was in the store for about an hour until they were satisfied that the new bike fitted me correctly. I walked away with my new bike confidently knowing Chris and the staff had my best interest and satisfaction before letting me leave. Thank you Chris and the Fair Oaks staff. You have definitely earned my business because of your attention to customer service.

The staff are as friendly, as any other shop. Unless youre a hipster or get paid to cycle, you should at least try this shop. People like me who ride over 8k mi./yr. shop here because of price, but the staff are always attentive, and friendly. Every time I go, there are at least 4 people working. That means the shop has enough paying customers to support that staff. People vote with their wallets. I qualify this by saying, I have been to pretty much every Sac area bike shop, and encourage you to do the same. Performance has a mixed bag of low to upper-mid gear, but the prices are the best, and the staff have earned my and many others ongoing business. See for yourself. My opinion applies to only this Quail point location. I have had inconsistent experiences at Roseville, and the Howe location, but like the other complaining guy, maybe I was looking for something to complain about that day.

I went to that store because it is the closest to my house. Performance bike has very good price but that store has very poor service. I bought a $1500 bike and a cyclometer but I had to go back the following day because the cyclometer did not correspond to what I needed. The girl that I have spent about 1 hour the day before to select my bike did not recognize me. I had the feeling to twist their arm to get my new cyclometer installed. They were upset because I wanted to pay with my points. He charged me the full price for the cyclometer and not the member price and argued with me to the fact that he gave my receipt back. I like performance bike but I will buy the accessories I need on-line to avoid this non-friendly store.

As a serious rider who stopped by looking for vsome chain rings and a bash guard, and as someone who can’t pass a bike shop without going in just to browse, I was not at all impressed with the products or the staff. While they were pleasant, they had a rudimentary grasp of full suspension mountain bikes and their components. A Diamondback Recoil Comp is NOT a downhill bike, nor would the Suntour fork handle all mountain riding. If you are not a serious rider and looking for a cheap bike or low price accessories of mediocre quality, then this is the place for you. If you are in the market for a decent mountain bike, full suspension or otherwise I suggest you steer clear of Performance.

I bought a gt mountain bike a few months ago. Its a great bike and quality for sure. You do have a selection to choose from. They soft sell you which is much better than other places. Meaning that the first item they suggest is the upper and more expensive. But if you say you are looking for a more cost friendly option, they are helpful. The guy repairing the bikes in the back is pretty cool. My only complaint is that you cant just browse without every associate asking if you are ok and need help. Even the same person several times. There is just a line between helpful and feeling rushed .

Ill go to Performance for everything I can. The no-hassles return policy cant be beat. You use it, you dont like it, you bring it back and get a refund or trade up for something else. Performance brands deliver near name brand quality for half the price. If you want a boutique bike shop, this isnt it. If you want high-end custom mechanics, go elsewhere. But if you want bikes and gear that will perform every bit as well, without the big name brand prices, and good guys who know their way around bikes, shop Performance.
