Big 5 Corporation 2525 E. El Segundo Blvd. El Segundo, CA 90245 July 2, 2014 Big 5 Corporate Office: On June 25th, 2014, I purchased a pair of shoes for my son, Shaq Platinum 36 basketball shoes in the amount of $44.99. My son wore the shoes for 5 days and to my disappointment, the shoes fell apart. I purchased the shoes from Big 5 Sporting Goods in Redlands, California. I brought the shoes back to Big 5 Sporting Goods in Redlands, California On July 1st, 2014 and explained to the associate that the shoes got damaged after being used for a five days. Instead of helping me out, they told me that I would need to send the Shaq Platinum 36 basketball shoes back to the manufacturer. This was a truly disappointing situation because they were unable to assist me. I am truly also very disappointed of the quality of the shoes because I did not expect that the shoes would fall apart after being used for 5 days. The reason of why I am writing to the Corporate Office of Big 5 is that your policy is not at all very customers friendly. To gain customer trust, you should be able to meet the needs of your clienteles such as accepting damaged goods when returned prior to the 30 days window and especially when the product has only been purchased in less than a week. I believe that your policy should be changed when it comes to damage goods because it’s how you gain customer satisfaction and trust. Similar to Costco and Wal-Mart, they are truly customer focused and are very serious in meeting the needs of their customers and it is why they have happy clienteles.

Tried selling me shoes with stitching all torn and the shoes were so scuffed that the suede (or whatever) was rubbed off in countless areas. Must have been display shoes... even the box was all beat up. And they have the audacity to tell me via phone that they have a pair in Stock? And then I drive all the way here for this bs ? I mention it to the manager and he tries to say that the suede is pushed in different directions giving that look. Now, Im not an idiot.. I know how suede works. When they handed me the shoes I tried to rub out the scuffs thinking maybe what he said is so and that wasnt the case. You can clearly see where someone used another shoe to kick these off and scratched off the suede in the back, scuffed the hell out of them on the sides and torn the stitching and he wants to play it off ? As for the box he tried claiming that it could have been caused by someone opening the box.. the box was squished!!! Torn !!! I used to buy shoes here every time they ran a sale... Id usually buy 2 lugz, I Fila, and once in a while a pair of Pumas. I wont anymore. Management had changed and gone downhill, no customer service, and I feel like Im an annoyance to them when I stand by while the employees are chatting because Im waiting to ask for a pair of shoes ! Last straw.

FISHING LISCENCE QUESTION. I BOUGHT 1 TWO MONTHS AGO. PLANNED TO ENJOY RELAXING AT THE LAKES. I LAMINATED IT & WAS ALL DESTROYED. SALES GUY NEVER TOLD ME THAT I COULD NOT DO THIS. WHENT BACK 2 THE STORE ALL THEY COULD DO IS TELL ME THEY CAN SELL ME ANOTHER ONE. WHAT DA? I SPEND ABOUT $300 A YEAR AT BIG 5. $45 FOR IT, IS NOTHING 4 ME, BUT IF MANAGEMENT CANT HELP ME I WILL TAKE MY $ SOME WHERE EALSE & ADVISE OTHERS TO DO SO. THE STORE IS ON SF MISSION & BALBOA IN THE VALLEY. PLEASE MR. BIG 5 HELP ME OUT. OTHER WISE U WILL BE LIKE" NATIONAL LUMBER" BEAT OUT BY THE COMPETITION. I LIKE UR STORE.

Our trip to El Segundo was wonderful they had exactly what we wanted they held it for us and we were in and out and they were very very helpful and polite. We actually live near the Culver City Big 5 the customer service was absolutely deplorable not enough people to help the man that was helping us went off and helped another lady before he finished with us I actually got in argument with the lady that she took him and she told me to go take it to the counter the manager was trying to placate me which I did not appreciate whatsoever I will not go back to the Culver City Big 5.

The place is very easy to access, store is clean and well organized all the time, staff is friendly, especially the shoe department. The only thing I think they can do better is the store signs - it can be more specific. It took me a while to locate soccer socks because the staff directed me to the soccer section, however all socks are near the shoe section.

Prices are ok. Must look for specific sales though. While its hard to find your size they have a wide variety for both men and women and for different sports too. Everything is very organized and clean.

This is a model store located in the corporate headquarters of Big 5. They offer specials every week in a circular and if you patient you can get a great deal on anything from ammo to a volleyball.
