Convenient and cheap Japanese market with a wide selection of seafood, sushi, furikake, snacks, and other Japanese cooking supplies, knick-knacks, and cosmetics. I love coming here for grocery shopping and picking up pre-sliced meat and veggies for shabu. They have an awesome selection of Japanese goodies. The most recent time I came here they had a sale on different flavor kit-kats ~$6 a bag for green-tea matcha, cookies & cream, and strawberry flavors. Most other stores I have been to charts $10-12+ dollars for these kit-kats. I also picked up some wakame and ika sansai for a couple dollars.

The selection is very Japanese. They have all the staples with one aisle row dedicated to each. For example, there is an entire row dedicated to curry sauces. Id like a larger selection of candy and snacks. This is more of an actual grocery store than the novelty Japanese groceries you see in some places. Theres a large selection of fresh and frozen seafood, pork and beef. Everything you need to prepare a Japanese meal is represented in quantity. The service is very fast: Even though there were fifteen customers in front of me it took less than five minutes to check out.

Marukai is a shining model to which all Asian grocery stores should aspire. Unlike its Chinese counterpart (like Marina and Ranch 99), Marukai is immaculate, and its employees are proficient in English, courteous, and helpful. Marukai offers a decent selection of bento boxes, sushi, and sashimi, as well as high grade meat and fresh produce. The prices tend to be a tad higher than the other Asian grocery stores. But its worth spending a bit more if you want good quality.

Really well organized japanese surpermarket. Every product in aisles has a label with the price and a sentence to describe what it is, which comes in handy since there are a lot of products that are completely unknown to me. They have made on-site sushi (and sushi grade fish) to take home, which are delicious and not overpriced. Definitely worth a stop to get some awesome Japanese snacks and candy if youre in the area.

Very nice and clean Japanese supermarket. It can get quite crowded and Ive seen times where all 4 check-out lines were 10+ people long each despite the fast check-out rate. They have nice fresh fish and their prepacked sushi is pretty good as well. If you come later in the day, they sometimes have a slight discount on the sushi. Staff is pretty friendly and they sometimes have free samples to try on the weekends.

You would have to be exceedingly confused to qualify the prepared sushi/sashimi here as, generally, "fresh" ; and, would also need to have a peculiar taste for pre-manufactured wasabi packets and the cheaper bottled ginger -- I wouldnt go out of the way for their prepared sashimi. Other than that, however, this place is a solid and valued addition to the local food scene.

Prices here are a bit expensive. Also, the lines are always long, but this is the only place I can go to get some very unique Japanese treats. You can always find different snacks to try here. They also have different flavors of Kit Kats. Navigating through the aisles can sometimes be a challenge though. Product locations arent always marked in an obvious way.

Authentic Japanese market with abundant supply of fresh sushi-grade seafood. They have a great selection of salmon, tuna, hamachi, scallop, uni, shrimp, and other items that you can find a Japanese restaurant. You can also ask the guys in the back to cut the fish in sashimi style. Highly recommend this place if you want to make your own sushi at home.

Located on Stevens Creek Blvd, pretty good location and convenient. A clean Japanese supermarket in the Bay Area. It has a wide selection of Japanese goodies, prices can be high though for some goods when compared to other Asian grocery markets around, but at the same time, some Japanese food and items you might not be able to find elsewhere.

I cannot decide whether I like Mitsuwa better or Marukai better, and so i am giving both five stars. The meat and seafood section are fantastic. The produce here is a bit cheaper than at Mitsuwa. Parking is better here than at Mitsuwa, probably because there is no Santouka ramen shop in this shopping mall.

The place to go for your Japanese goods - prices are usually a little better than other Japanese supermarkets in the area, and theres always a great selection. Tip: Avoid around and before New Years time, as the line gets insane. You can also pay $1 for a Marukai membership to get the really good deals!

Tsung-Ying Ho

They have great imported Kobe beef from Japan and Wagyu american beef for meat lovers. The selection is no less than other two other Japanese grocery stores you can find in the Bay Area, Nijiya and Mistuwa. Besides, they have some Hawaiian products, which are less found in other two stores.

They have some great Japanese goodies and skin care. The bento boxes from here are AMAZING although during todays visit at around 6 p.m. their little food case was completely wiped ): They have an island with a great selection of high quality beef (spectacular marbling) in different cuts.

This area can get busy at times due to other businesses in the surrounding area, but if youre only going grocery shopping, arrive early or go at a off-time. Marukai has great selections of Japanese food. Might as well make a pit stop to Daiso next door while youre there.

ChiHu Family

Marukai is our go-to place for Japanese grocery shopping. There are great selections of meat, vegetable and fish. There are free food sampling during the weekend. The staff is friendly. The beef shabu shabu is awesome. We also love various kibds of bread in their bakery.

Eamon Ho

Not as well stocked as the one in Torrance but love the sushi and seafood selection. They also carry lots of Berkshire sausages and chashu, I always drop by for a restock. The lines are annoying since people just line up in the aisles, they need a bigger location.

Good selections Japanese groceries and some special cooking wares such as octopus ball cooker and ceramic grill (shichirin). They have kotatsu heater as well. No organic vegetables and fruits. Frozen fishes are sold as frozen, which is much better than melt one.

They offer samples during weekends, some weekdays. Wide range of snacks and sweets from Japan (like matcha kitkats). Sushi and sashimi has always been fresh and prices are reduced towards the end of the day; theyre usually gone within 3 hours of closing time.

Kurumi Aoyama-Baker

We get Japanese groceries here. I can get the cheapest natto and shirataki. We usually come here in the morning to get fresh sashimi for breakfast. The sushi and sashimi honestly tast better than I had in sushi restaurants around here.

Small yet cozy japanese grocery. I love coming here even if I dont have many Japanese things on the menu for the week. And its the only place Ive been able to find pieces of chasu pork small enough for 2 people.

The best place to buy fresh sashimi. The only place I can find that sells hamachi kama. And their bento boxes portions are generous and better value than Nijyas. The best Japanese supermarket around!

Poke bowls, sushi, sashimi, bento boxes fit for a quick meal. Nice fish counter, good meat selection. And of course a good selection of Japanese supermarket items, sings Korean and Chinese stuff too.

I drive from Sacramento to this Marukai a few times a year to get all the needs unavailable at my local Asian markets. I love this place and the bento selection! Go early because they sell out fast!
