If there was something less than 1 star I would have used it! Pep Boys use to be our "go to" place for simple auto care. After 3 miserable experiences we will NEVER EVER "GO" HERE AGAIN! During the summer the a/c went out in my 10 year old Honda Accord. Pep Boys could fix it for $1100 (cars only worth $3K) so we said no and tried B&F Air Conditioning in Costa Mesa - they fixed it for $300 and it works perfectly. Then a few weeks ago the battery started acting up so back we "go" to have it tested - they installed a new battery and a cable. A few days later the car completely died while I was driving - lost all electrical power. Got it back to Pep Boys on a Wednesday around 1 pm. We called at 7 PM since we hadnt heard from them and they said, "Oh didnt anyone tell you that the battery guy is off today?". (Lie #1) Waited till Friday and called back again around 10 am hoping to find out what the problem was. Put on hold for 20 minutes so my husband drove over there. The first guy told us that the distributor store for the new cable we needed was CLOSED for the day.(Lie #2) So my husband went outside and called the distributor only to learn they were NOT closed. He went back inside and asked and the clerk had someone else come talk with my husband. The new guy calls the distributor and asks (1) are they open and (2) do they have the part. Yes on both counts and then hangs up. He NEVER ordered the part! My husband asks why he didn;t order it and the guy says, gee I didnt think you wanted me to! (lie #3) Are you serious! So the part gets ordered and were told it would be a few hours. The NEXT day my husband calls and is told that the car isn;t ready and it would be several more hours. Less than 2 minutes later another guy calls and says the car is ready come pick it up. So did the first guy just not check on our car when he told us the car wasnt ready and it would be hours? (lie #4) Went to get the car and they handed us a bill for $400. for a CABLE. Seriously??? After some serious conversation with the clerk -so that other customers could hear- my husband explains all the lies, all the problems -- and finally the clerk hands him the keys and says its okay just go. And go we did. Never to GO back AGAIN. DO NOT GO HERE

Ive had without doubt the worse car service experience at the COSTA MESA Pep boys. Can someone please tell me how I can talk to someone from Corporate and provide constructive feedback on this? 1. My credit card left in my coat jack in the trunk went missing and I have a $46 stolen gas charge at the exact time the car was in service (not implying card was stolen by employees; trying to figure out how the card might have otherwise dropped out of my jacket accidentally?) Also assuming the thief knew my zip code? 2. I booked ahead (4 days ahead) for 1pm appointment to get tires changed and was told when I checked in at 1pm that it will take 2 hours. Came back a 3:30pm and car was still sitting out. After I made some noise, they finally got the car ready at 5:15pm. So it took 4 hours to change tires (after I made an appointment) and misinformed when the car will be ready and wasted my time. 3. When I told the gentleman at checkout, the experience was not pleasant. He simply told me that I have choice and not to come here anymore. There was no interest in listening or receiving any feedback. 4. Once I picked up the car, the tire pressures were off by 5 psi. I have to stop the car exit the high way, the warning signal on my dash was on and had to pump air to the correct PSI. Before this location continues to operate and ruin Pepboys reputation, I will prefer talking to someone from corporate.

They just want your money! I had a problem that required diagnosis and then repairs. The final bill came to nearly $1500 including new shocks, new struts, and new rear lower trailing arms. They also said I needed new tires and they wouldnt guarantee their repair would fix the problem until I replaced all the tires. My tires were purchased at Costco and still under warranty so I still have to see if Costco agrees with them When I came to pick up the car, I noticed a $69 item for extended warranty. I was never asked about extended warranty by anyone! The counter guy (Jesus) said it automatically appears on everybodys receipt unless they say to take it off. I asked if there were any discounts available and Jesus said he couldnt give me any discounts - it wasnt his service. Id have to wait for my guy (Alex) to return from lunch some 20 minutes later. He wouldnt even tell me if there were any discounts available. I had to search on my smart phone and point out there were coupons for new struts. I later discovered there was also a $10 off coupon for alignment that I didnt get because they didnt tell me about it. Simply put, these guys are after your money. They wont tell you about sales and specials - you have to already know. Unless you research their current ads and understand everything theyre trying to do on your car, youll do better with a local backyard mechanic.

Pep Boys has leto me down this Thanksgiving week. I have been on hold for +30min because their management is not coordinated. Originally I spoke to Shaun Paul on the phone & was twice told I would be able to get a written agreement signed stating my vehicle (dropped off sun pm) would be completed by Wed. afternoon. When I drove out there (dealthough with traffic) because I was told Ithat would be completed this week (& not next like every other shop) the (assistant) manager Alex refused to sign the agreement although labor would only be 5hrs. My agreement clearly stated If they could not fix it by Wednesday they had to notify me as soon as they possibly could. He still refused to sign it after I told him I did not expect the compensation to be more than $50 dollars off because a +$600 job being free would be completely irrational. After disputing for awhile we came to the conclusion that his manager would call me the next day by 3pm. 4pm rolled around & they did not call me when I call them they put me on hold for longer than 35mins. I speak to who I thought was "Steve" but told me his name was "Rudy" after I told him I was going to complain on whatever platform I could. I am Extremely Disappointed with Pep boys because their failure to meet basic customer satisfaction.

Absolutely Horrible service!!! Ive been coming to this place for more than 10 years and the store emplees are cool and helpful. I took my car this morning to get my tire checked out because its leaking air and loosing pressure. Three employees at the counter and none of them said "Hi" or even acknowledged that I was even there. Even after I said hello and tried to get someone to help me. One guy told me to "hang on a second" and called a customer. Hahaha Im sorry but I think I was there already, you can help me, then call. Wtf?! What you get so much money that you dont care for customers anymore? You can now pick and choose who the help? Thats some piss poor customer service and overall life attitude! I will be making a complaint to the upper management, this is not the first time this happened! Piss poor job performance too on installation of new tires on my car if the air leaks only a month after service! So I left and went to H.B. pep boys, and no surprise, got the same treatment. Stood in line, and got no help after a good 10 minutes, no one said a word to me, even tho Im standing right at the "service" counter! Absolute garbage of a service and experience!
