Delete if not allowed.. this is my opinion and personal review. SAFARI PETS.... OK I have been a customer for years. I bought hamsters, guinea pigs, whatever the kids wanted, and dog food. We bought hamsters the first time and asked for two boys. We end up with a boy and two girls and a month later 14 babies. I took them back in because the mom got mean and bite my kids daily. No problem. We kept the adult male and sill have him to this day. About two months ago I go get 2 teddy bear hamsters and a cage for my two kids who dont have a pet. Within days they were dead due to sickness ( they had stated that several had died). Took them back with the cage got refunded like 50 bucks. Made the mistake of taking the kids in and 350 dollars later walked out with a chinchilla and everything you can think of that he would need. ( by the way the owner said oh he is too young to leave but if you promise not to hold him for 2 weeks ill let you take him, we followed his advice) Less than 14 days later he is sick, remember we still have the hamster that is completely healthy, I call monday and tell the store. A lady says you can bring him in Thursday and we will send him to our vet-dealer and try to fix him or you can take him to your vet and try but we cant hold him here. So I take him to my vet and 175 dollars later and 2 weeks down the road he is almost better. I go in the store to buy food for the dog, I tell a lady at the counter he is better almost and he has to take med for two weeks. She told me I wouldnt have gotten the same chichi back if I would have sent him off. Two weeks later (today) I get up to feed him and he is back to day one of being sick. I call the pet store because I dont have 175 atm to fix him again and ask is there anything they can do. I tell them everything. They remember me because I returned a trashy cage and they lost money... how I dont know because I bought it from them and he approved it before he took it back? Well they tell me there its nothing they can do about selling sick animals because the time has passed. Well the time wasnt passed when I first told you he was sick... of course Im going to try to fix him first like you told me to do,my kids have a connection with the animal. The vet even told me he was a "sickly animal" and not anything I could do differently. They will say all day I broke a meeting to bring him in but within the first 2 weeks I spoke to two different people and they had two different things they wanted me to do. I went with my gut for my kids and took him to a local vet. I want everyone to be very careful when shopping there. And to the owner please be careful of who you let speak for you because the girl that called me today was so unprofessional. And to respond to the comment below. If the cage was so bad why did you give me a store credit? Not a refund. Also your employees told me to take him to my vet because it was a monday and you had nowhere to store him. Thursday would have been the day to ship him off. He would have died. Its OK I got an overwhelming response from a Facebook post I made about the situation. There was over 30 people who had purchased a sick animal from your store. Its sad that you and your employees arent on the same page when it comes to policy. And your employee Nicole told me to go ahead and leave this review if I wanted to because you werent going to respond and different than she did and hung up. I was more looking for and advise or reasons why he would be sick. Very unprofessional business. From the response of other customers I am confident it wasnt my fault. You can throw the blame all day on me but you know that isnt true. Why would I spend over 350 on everything then 200at the vet for no reason. But Im sure all 30 people didnt care for the animals either. Its sad how you handle your business and karma will come around.

I will never return to Safari Pets as a customer. I brought my dog in to get his nails trimmed, and my dog was barking, because there were other animals in the room, and he was excited. The groomer rolled his eyes, and was huffing at my dog to be quiet. He looked unhappy in his position, and did not treat me well as a customer. I called one week later to speak with the manager/owner to inform them of my experience. It turns out that the person who groomed my dog WAS the owner! If you cant treat your customers, or their animals with a little patience and respect, then you are in the wrong business! Additionally, their retail prices on acessories are ridiculously high. Id rather go to Kmart or the feed store to get my food and accessories. Knowing how the owner conducted himself in front of me, I refuse to go back, because clearly he wont be reprimanding himself for the horrible experience I had. If it were an employee, I would attempt to resolve the issue, but the issue is permanent due to the fact he is the owner. I found a place directly across the street from them, and they are amazing ! So, thats where I will be going !

Most of the time, this pet store is like a teenage hangout, and by that I mean the teenage employees just hang out rather than work. The female employees are the WORST. It is only acceptable to go here if you know exactly what you need, do not intend to buy any living creature, do not need assistance, need something immediately and cannot/do not have time to run elsewhere - then you can run in and out. There is only one gentleman that is helpful and/or knowledgeable, but it is hit and miss when he is there. I gave this pet store multiple tries before giving up and refusing to return, I say well over a dozen times over the past few years; no more, Ill never return. The owner is....well, to put it nicely, ridiculous. This is a prime example of a person who doesnt quite care about his customers, but continues to stay in business because he is the only pet store in Cabot.

This place is a pig sty! While they are a large sized store their stock is terrible. Hardly any salt-water fish, even though they claim to specialize in salt water fish! Their employees are rude, condescending, and hardly knowledgeable about the products they sell! It also appears that they dont own a mop, or any other cleaning supplies! The floors are disgusting, there is dust all over pretty much everything in there, and the overall cleanliness of the store leaves a lot to be desired! I would not recommend this store at all! If you are interested in any fish and fish supplies check out the aquarium store in Maumelle. If you want supplies for your four legged animal, or rodent, go to one of the big box stores! Youll get much better service, much better pricing, and a lot more cleaner store!
