I walked into Nationwide Vision Center for the first time with my son and saw one other customer there as well. There were 3 workers in the front area and all of them noticed us enter the room, but no one said anything to us. All they did was look at us, unsmiling I might add!, and sit/stand behind the counter. After standing there awkwardly for a while, someone FINALLY spoke to us. "Can I help you?" She asked. "My son has an appointment", I answered her. At this point, we are still standing just a little inside the front door, having not been greeted or welcomed to enter. So we are standing there having I guess what is a conversation with one of the workers who actually condescends to speak to us, and not just stare at us like we are aliens or something! After we talked a few seconds, she finally says, you can come closer here! And we finally walk up to the front counter and start the process of getting glasses for my son. We didnt have that long a wait, and the person who did the initial check of my sons eyes was a little rude when she was asking him to tell her the letters he was seeing. My son has a severe learning disability, and even though he is 11 years old, he still has to think carefully about his letters and numbers. I didnt tell her this, but even not knowing, I think she could have even pretended to be a little nicer. So we wait just a few more minutes longer, and are called in to see the optometrist, who I am surprised to see was one of the workers who only stared at us in the front area. But I was even more surprised at how friendly he was after he introduced himself. He was so nice to my son and made friendly conversation with us all through the exam. So all in all, I would give this place 3 out of 5 stars, and the only criticism I have is that they were not the friendliest workers. I would suggest to them to hone their customer service skills, as soon as someone walks in the door, SMILE!!! And say "Hi! How may I help you?" Dont just stand there slack-jawed! Still dont know if I will be a returning customer or will check out other places...

on may 4, 2011 i was told that i had Macular degeneration by a visiting doctor at the Mckelleps , mesa store. She also gave me a new prescription. I had to wait for two months for a specialist to tell me if I was going blind fast or slow. i could not sleep and my blood pressure went nuts. about two months later the specialist told me that my Macular"s are fine but the prescription was wrong. i returned the glasses and was refunded the almost 900usd. thank you. i also returned the brochures on MD that the good doctor gave me. one of the most horrible experiences of my 65 years, Alan Peterson, Mesa

I been there a few times and must agree on how unprofesional and rude they are. They all stand around and look at you like you are bothering them. Very strange. Also had ordered lenses twice anf for some reason it takes them forever to get the order in. I never waited over a week for a box of lessens. I had to call several time to check if they got them and one of the times they simply had missplaced them and simply forgot about me. So I kept calling and they were telling me they are not in yet while the whole time they had them already in the store.

They now have a new location (1240 w southern Ave Suite 101 85202) which I took my daughter (who is 6years old) today. I must say the staff took great care of us. My daughter is normally very shy and everybody there was just so kind and made the eye exam a lot easier then what I thought it would be. She does need glasses and they have a great selection of kids glasses. I would highly recommend this place, especially if you need a childs eye exam. Im actually going to be making my next apt at this location

At first, the lady told me i missed my appointment when i first walked in. The lady i scheduled the appointment with made the mistake of telling me the wrong time. Fortunately, they were able to squeeze me in that same day, although they looked pretty busy. I waited for an hour, and once the optometrist was able to see me, the process went pretty quick. They werent so bad, theyre just the most welcoming or talkative bunch, but all in all, they did their job.

Its been over a month and my son still hasnt received his glasses! I call just about every other day and they tell me that they arent in yet that they will call me back. I sit and wait and nothing. It wouldnt be such a big deal but my sons eye sight is really bad and he needs them. The wait there is so long and to top it off they cant seem to get an order right. Very upset with how much Ive been struggling. Wont be going back again ever!!!

Service is great when I go in, however, tried to call in and I was immediately put on hold and then hung up on after 8 minutes of holding. Second time I was placed on hold as soon as they answered and then I was hung up on again after 6 minutes of holding. I would not recommend calling these people as they dont seem to like taking phone calls very much. 2 stars for the great service they do provide and -3 for lack of phone handling skills.

The good part of this review is that the staff is very friendly and I was able to get an appointment right away. The bad news not a very good selection of eye glasses. Everything they had was really expensive I was able to find a cheap pair of frames but how good they are is anyone guess. The doctor didnt seem very friendly at all. It just seemed like everything was way over priced I dont think I will be returning. Hope this review helps.

Worst experience ever, and i have been getting exams yearly for over 20 years. Also been going to this location for more than 5.. BUT, I will never be back to this location. Everyone in the office had the worst attitude and made me feel completely uncomfortable. What happened to good customer service? They all clearly need a lesson on it. I will be taking my complaint further.. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this location to ANYONE!!!!

So when you call here there is a lady named Norma that is completely rude and unprofessional is not able to get anything scheduled prior to a week and a half away and will tell you that its not her problem that you cant get an eye exam sooner than that. Its ridiculous that people are being treated this way. Total lack of compassion just because the employees dont want to do their jobs. No wonder so many ppl hate nationwide

Been to other places but i was recommended to this place. Worst place ever. Receptionist are very disrespectful not willing to hel you fill out for. Optometrist are very unprofessional just standing around while people are waiting. I had a questions about insurance for myself and they said i would have to make appointment because i was there for my son. Go somewhere else im going back to my place down the street.
