Although the books this store sells are in good condition, they are over priced. And I would NOT recommend using them as a place to sell your used books. We took in ten tubs of books, most of which were in great condition as I used to have a store of my own. They did not treat the items with care. I had them packed by type and neatly, they made a huge mess and I had to pack it back up again. They only wanted 60 some books and records out of everything, and only wanted to give me $27. Their buyers obviously do not know what books are really worth. They sell things for $6 and up and only give people $.50 for books?? Really. Some of the books were old classics in excellent condition and the lady only wanted to give me $2 for 7 books. I recommend going to Bookmans. We went there next, and had a very pleasant experience and their buyers new what they were doing. And what I got back was neat and organized. The time it took at Bookmans was also much shorter, even though only one person went through our stuff instead of three like that HPB.

I have been going there for sometime and I will say the wait in line is long. I have gotten a few good deals better then bookman, but in the long round F.Y.E and Bookman beat their price. For example I brought in three books and two cds, offer $1.50. I went to F.Y.E they bought the cds for $2.50 and Bookman took the rest of the books for another $2.50. so yea I wont recomend them, if you want your cds for more then you bargin for then go to F.Y.E and your books to Bookman. and the wait on both hand are much shorter and they are way friendlier too

DO NOT WASTE your time to sell books to them. I was stupid and took many boxes of books to them, and only received a few bucks each time. Then I wised up and started selling the books online. In two months I have made a thousand dollars. I realize not that they either did not know what they were getting, or they did, which was more likely. I gave them THOUSANDS of dollars of books for a few bucks. I still feel awful about it. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!!!!!

Staff here is always friendly and the selection is good. The clearance area in the back right (southwest) corner usually has some good stuff for just a couple dollars. There is also a display near the back of the store, roughly in the middle, that usually has a lot of decent books for a dollar or two. Sell back values arent great - you would make more selling through Amazon - but the process is very low hassle.

This is my first time ever reviewing a bookstore.I had my first trip today at this amazing bookstore.I was Wow.This bookstore is beautiful when I first got here.I sold some of my books and bought a few awesome modern classics.Im just happy and staffs are helpful.I can stay here all day too bad we have this so called errands-to-run so I had to go.Will be back again next week.You own me now, Strand.

This place is the biggest ripoff outlet in town. I suggest you sell your books online,craigslist, donate to your local library or simply dump them at your local Goodwell or Salvation Army instead of giving away your valuable books to these crooks. I wouldnt go there nor I would recommend any of my family, friends or associates.

Bookmans and The Book Vault are easier to sell books to. Other stores let you choose cash or store credit when you sell your books. Half Price only pays cash. I prefer store credit. They also make you wait at the store while they decide what to buy from you. Other stores allow you to drop off books and come back later.

Cheap prices and massive selection. I always walk out with an arm full of books that would cost 20 times as much at other stores. Friendly staff always willing to help you find things too. They have record albums and comic books if you are into those things. A great GREAT store. Xmas shop there for great deals!!!

Those of you complaining that they dont know what books are worth because they wont pay you what YOU think theyre worth obviously have NO idea how business works. FYI: "buy low, sell high." Theyre not running a charity, theyre buying books to resell and make a profit. If you dont like it, sell them yourself.

I love this store...I just go in there for hours and just browse. Always fine a great deal on books and music. They do need to lower the prices of their movies though, because you can go next door to Best Buy and find a new movie for same price or less. No matter...I still love Half Price Books.

This is a pretty standard Half Price Books store, which means its a really good bookstore and far better than most bookstores in Arizona. Good selection. Good prices. Friendly staff. I regularly visit Half Price Books with my family and were always able to find what we need.

Nothing like the locations in WA state, but a nice place to find well conditioned used books and dvds. Be watchful and know what you are shopping for, avg prices are half the new shelf price for books and the going value rate for dvds. (.99 to 12.99)

Nice place to spend the day away looking for hidden gems. This was the first time I went into this bookstore. Regardless of what youre looking for, theres a good chance it could be here at a fraction of the cost you can find elsewhere, even online.

I sold a bunch of old textbooks for some change. The ones they wouldnt buy, I let them keep to donate. They take up to an hour to price your stuff and ask you to pick then up promptly due to lack of space and many people who bring their old books.

I have found all the half price books staff to be very helpful and friendly, and really like their selection. I have also sold books there, and feel I got a fair value, especially if you do store credit.

Call for a certain series they said they had it. Its pretty much the only store in about 50 mile radius because I call all of them lol . He was too lazy he wouldnt go into the back to try to locate it.

Great place for vinyl, tapes, vhs, and cds. You might have to browse around but I dont think I have ever left there without a handful of awesome finds. Always love spending my Saturday mornings here.

Cheap floppies. Blu-rays, movies, anime, manga and plenty of books to look through. I like to take my grandma here to get her books. I can sometimes find cheap textbooks for school.
