I have had the absolute worst experience with this shop that Ive ever had! I went in and spoke with Tyler, I explained what I wanted. Tyler said it cant be done, so he talked me into removing part of what I wanted. I was quoted $200 - $300 for my outside firearm. I explained to Tyler that I was having surgery in the next week and was told Id be ok by my appt date. Tyler said not to worry that I could push it out if I needed to and rescheduling was not an issue. I had to reschedule, then emailed Tyler to see if I could add something to it. Back and fourth 10 emails long, finally I just drive the 15miles down there. Tyler pawns me off on Brian saying he had more experience with the level of intricacy Im looking for. Explain briefly what I want to Brian. Brian, like a peacock strutting, says there is no issue. Hes got it and doesnt need the reference pics I offer to email him. Day of tattoo Brian has nothing sketched, as I was told this is the reason for your deposit to get the ball rolling, and had lost the outline of the area Im filling in. Mind you I came in the Friday before my appt to speak to him and he had gone home early. Even though i called first and told Tyler Id be coming down. I wait an hour and Brian comes out with only a piece of what I asked for. I explain this isnt what Im looking for. Maybe hed known that had he spoken to me before he went back to draw. Maybe Tyler could have filled him in? Nah they are too busy gossiping like two old ladies in a knitting circle. I sat and waited another hour, two entire hours. Hey how bout you come out and say this isnt happening today, maybe after 20 min? Yet another sketch having nothing to do with what I asked for. I leave, call the owner, Byron, who says to come in and talk. Oh yay! Another 15 mile trip, one way. Byron says he can do it, in two months, for $500 dollars. Tyler had originally told me its a spot where I cant do too much intricacy. Now Byron is telling me its so intricate that it costs $500! A month from my appt Ive decided Im not letting anyone there touch my skin. Not only was I completely ignored by ALL staff (except Brian) while I waited two HOURS, the owner was their ignoring me too. I had to listen to Byron and his receptionist gossiping like little old ladies, over the blaring metal music that was playing. Yup gossiping about this customer and that. Good Lord, what are they going to say about me? A month before my appt i email that I believe Im being taken advantage of. The design and location hasnt changed although the price has. Plus I was reassured several times by two artists who did not have the ability to produce what I was asking for. I was then told when I asked Byron if he could sketch something up before I came in to make sure that my idea was transferred correctly and that there would be no problem slapping a stencil on and getting my tattoo done on the actual date, that he books too many appts to be able to do that. Then WTF is my deposit for??? So I asked to cancel and have my deposit returned to me. The response I got was they did enough work, that I changed my tattoo many times and rescheduled several times. I rescheduled due to complications with surgery. Also remember Tyler told me there would be no issue. Also gave them 3-5 weeks notice each time I rescheduled. Now Black Lotus Tattoo has my $60 deposit, refuses to Supply me with the deposit agreement I supposedly signed and I have no tattoo. Ive wasted at least two tanks of gas going back and forth there not to mention the two hours Sitting Waiting for nothing to be drawn properly. I would not recommend this shop to anyone especially if youre a BBW as I feel I was discriminated against. If you look at all the 5 star ratings below, they are from a young thin 20-somethings or pretty blonde 30-somethings or men. Or first timers. Not to mention they blocked me from their FB page for speaking about what took place.

Lexy is a cool tattoo artist, but ultimately, my review is based on the job done, which Im afraid to say was really NOT what I wanted. Lexy basically did a cover up of a cover up. I went in with a sun on my upper right back and wanted Lexy to tattoo over it with a bird. Admittedly, it was a little tricky as the sun meant the tattoo I had to choose to go over it would be dark. Anyhow, I went in with a tribal bird design which Lexy said shed work with. She had loads of time to bounce ideas off me - she didnt. On the day of my appointment, I went in, she had completely scrapped the tribal idea and drew up something I really didnt like. After going over things, I found a tattoo that I thought would work. A specific bird tattoo that I sent her a picture of. I liked the shape a lot, and the look of the bird. She went away, took the outline of the bird I had chosen, and pretty much free-styled on my back. I didnt mind at the time, she seemed like she knew exactly what I wanted. Well.... it wasnt. The shape of the bird is not what I wanted, nor is the proportion. It has hardly any texture to it at all. The birds eye is simply a round flesh circle with nothing to it. The tattoo artists I have gone to after this to try and do somethig with it say itll be really hard because the tattoo as a whole is REALLY dark. But hey ho - I paid, $350. And will now be paying even more to try and get it to the standard of tattoo I initially wanted. I emailed Lexy to explain that I was disappointed, I mustve offended her because she didnt reply. Anyhow, thats my story...and lesson learned.

Absolutely love love love the work that Aaron has done for me and cant wait for Byron to take on my next project in January. These guys are the real deal - true artists, not just a bunch of garage tattooers looking for the next quick buck. They take pride in their work and arent willing to compromise their values. They will give you an honest opinion, they run a clean facility, are upfront with their pricing, and they wont screw you over to make a profit. I had originally been in a year ago for a big cover up and after multiple consults with Byron, the project just couldnt be done the way I imagined it. He gave it to me straight - that in his professional opinion, my expectations werent realistic and that the finished product would not be aesthetically pleasing. Although I was disappointed, I really valued his opinion, and thats why I choose Black Lotus time and again. When I returned a couple of months ago for a new project, I had intended to meet with Byron, but after taking a look at the inspiration, I was advised that the style of tattoo I wanted was more in John or Aarons wheelhouse. Im glad I went with Aaron because I am absolutely thrilled with the work he produced. I think a lot of disappointment with tattoo artists is that there is a lack of a management of expectations. The guys who are out there just to make a dollar will do and say everything you want to hear to land that sale. Black Lotus isnt about that, and thats something I really respect about this establishment.
