Buyer Beware, here is, not my first bad, but most recent experience with Menards. The online support was kind enough to refer me back to the manager that offered terrible terrible customer service. HELLO, I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM WITH ORDERING SOMETHING SPECIAL ORDER, GIVING THE KID THAT WORKS FOR YOU NEAR SPECIFIC DIMENSIONS AND THEN BEING OVER SOLD A 24 SQ FT PROJECT BY OVER 5 SQ FT AND THEN BEING PENALIZED FOR THE UNUSED UNOPENED BOX RETURN. IS IT MY FAULT YOU HIRE INCOMPETENT KIDS. EXAMPLE, THE NIGHT WE TRIED TO MAKE THE RETURN OF 1 OUT OF 5 BOXES, ANOTHER KID YOU HIRED WAS READY TO GIVE US THE FULL CREDIT FOR 5 BOXES BECAUSE HE THOUGHT IT WAS 5 PIECES IN A BOX LOL.SO WE CAME IN WITH A 24 SQ FT PROJECT LIKE I SAID HE SOLD US 26.75 WORTH OF MATERIAL PLUS 6 CORNERS WHICH WOULD MAKE A TOTAL OF ALMOST 5 SQ FT EXTRA AND PUTS OUR TOTAL AT OVER 31 SQ FT. HE OBVIOUSLY DIDNT TAKE THE CORNERS INTO CONSIDERATION, BUT MADE SURE HE TOLD US 5 TIMES WE COULDNT RETURN THE MATERIALS. WHAT A JERK! SO FOR 12.50 CENTS++ YOU GUYS LOST A LONGTIME NEIGHBOR AND CUSTOMER THE MANAGER OF THE STORE IN MONONA SEEMED VERY INDIFFERENT TO THE SITUATION AND ACTED LIKE HE THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY, HAHA. ON TOP OF ALL THIS, WHEN I WENT TO GO PICKUP THE ORDER THE GUY YOU HAVE WORKING IN THE BACK COULDNT FIND IT, HE SENT ME ACROSS THE YARD WAITING FOR HIM. HE NEVER SHOWED UP SO I WENT BACK TO THE COUNTER I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THE ITEM AT AND THEY SAID HE WAS WAITING BACK AT THE DOOR FOR ME. THEY FOUND IT. ON A PALLET RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOOR. MISSING WAS ONE CLIP AND THE STARTER TRACK. I WAS THERE A TOTAL OF 2 HOURS HOPING MY COMPLETE ORDER WAS FOUND. NOPE! SO I HAD TO WAIT ANOTHER WEEK FOR THE STARTER TRACK AND WHILE IT WAS USABLE IT WAS BENT 2/3 OF THE WAY DOWN.

Horrible customer service. No thanks. Tried to shop "local" instead of always going to Home Depot, but wont be going back to Menards any time soon. Ordered some kitchen appliances from them, sure good prices, but the customer service since has been abysmal. Waited 6 weeks, my order had still not come in. I stopped by in person to be told that they actually had some in stock sitting in the back. Greaaat... So I called up to schedule my delivery. I was told I would be emailed my receipt but later received a hard copy in the mail (not a big deal, but get with the times). The delivery was supposed to happen between 7 am and 12. I woke up early on a Saturday morning to clean out the old fridge, get ready for them to come. 12 rolled around and no delivery. I called them up to be told that the delivery driver was out of town. What?! They said theyd call around and get back to me. An hour passed. I called back - this person told me that my order still had not been received to the store. I had to re-explain the whole situation. They set up a new delivery date, but would not cover the cost of delivery for my troubles. And at the end they made sure to get my credit card number to pay for the cord I needed to have - couldnt they have just thrown that in with the order? Sure, a $14 cord is not a big deal, but would have gone a long way customer service wise.

I purchased enough materials for an 18x16 shed. It was about $4,800. I had a few leftover materials so I went into the store to return them about 2 weeks after I ordered them. I didnt have my original receipt so I proceeded to look it up on the machine they have in the lobby. The receipt was no where to be found, I have had the same credit card through my local credit union for 6 years now and it is the only card I ever use. The employee at the front counter was of no help, asked for a supervisor. The store front end manager (huge JERK) came over and proceeded to tell me that Menards is not my bookkeeper and I should keep my receipts. Really? Why the heck do you have a machine that states it will give me a recipt upto 18 months old if it doesnt actually do it. I told him that Menards wasnt my home improvement store any longer either and walked out. Terrible service! They just dont get it at this store! Terrible... will never go back. Luckily I have realized their products are getting crappy and Home Depots seem to be better quality for a similiar price. Home Depot here I come! I am done with this store called Menards. aka the Walmart of home improvement stores.

Let me tell you about my experience working for the Monona Menards, and why the general manager, Mark Baker, is a lazy sloth. Menards truly is a great retail store for customers; they have low prices and a great selection of home improvement products. But, the turnover rate is so high that they cannot retain knowledgeable employees. Dont expect even acceptable customer service at this store. If you know exactly what materials you need for your job, shopping at this store is an economical choice. Mark Baker is easily the most incompetent manager I have worked for. Never before has a manager walked straight by me, without acknowledgement. This is the honest truth- he would stand by the exit doors "watching the front end" and pretend to be on his phone. How can someone mysteriously receive a phone call every time they are needed to watch the door? Mark would never offer to help someone load or unload, which seems shitty. Come on Mark- you are sitting at a desk watching a scrawny 18 year old kid try and unload entire pallets of 80lb salt. Oh, and he spells like someone with a middle-school education.

I used to love going to this store. Living in McFarland, it was the most convenient place to buy household items. In the last few months, their service has taken a turn for the worse. I was in the store last week, looking for a pipe fitting. I found the section where all the fitting were located but 2 employees were working on the rack. They did not pay ANY attention to me the entire 15 minutes I was standing there. They did not ask me once if I needed help. They also refused to move out of the way so that I could find the part I needed. Horrible service. For the past couple months, every time I visit the store, employees will intentionally turn around and walk away when they see you need help. They also, will pay NO attention when youre standing right next to them. I expect at least to be asked if I need some help if an employee has nothing else to do. Im very disappointed in what the service has become at this location. I really hope it is better elsewhere. I have since been frequenting Home Depot more often.

I personally would not give this store 1 star if I didnt have to. I have never encountered so many rude and miserable staff members in one store! I had the pleasure of speaking with a depart assistant manager Hannah, a cold rude checker, a guest services guy (who rolled his eyes at me as i turn away), a "front end mgr Andrea! I was there 2 days in a row and only one person (new employee Amanda) that really appeared to be dedicated to quality service as their ad and phone message says. Will never step one foot in this store again. If anyone of them had taken the time to LISTEN, show a little empathy and then fully communicate there would have been zero problem instead all tried to hurry give curt short incomplete answers just to move me on my way and acting as if I the paying customer was inconvenienceing them! I had just been to the Westside Menards and was treated entirely different (friendly) and the following day we went to the Eastside Menards and again totally different atmosphere and helpful staff.
