I am convinced that the previous commentor has his bike shops confused. I cant remember receiving better service from any store, bike shop or not. I visited The Bike Shop twice in the past 3 months. BOTH times, I ran in there practically begging to spend more money than I needed. BOTH times, they suggested easier and MUCH cheaper solutions to my problems. The first time I thought I needed all new deraileurs, shifters and cables. I am not much of a mechanic and thought I needed to replace a whole mess of stuff. The fellow in the shop, Danny, said it sounded like I just needed to replace just one cable and shifter (he sold me a used one for almost nothing). They offered to do the work but I really wanted to try it myself. Far from becoming indignant, he happily and clearly explained how I could do the work myself. The second time, I had two slightly bent wheels and what I thought was a bad crank. I actually tried to by a new wheelset and crank and suggested that if it was going to be a significant outlay, I would be more than willing to just purchase a new bike. Danny explained that they could easily fix many wheel issues very easily and very very little money and suggested I bring in the bike. He took a look at the bike, confirmed that the wheels could be easily aligned and showed me how, what I perceived to damage to my crank, was actually a design characteristic (some teeth shorter than other for ease of shifting). To further adderss my concerns he let me compare my crank to a brnd new one. Twice during the initial conversation I asked if he thought I might be better served just buying a new bike. Both times he said it sounded like my bike could be easily fixed. I was so pleased with the service I received at The Bike Shop that I called and told a friend while I was driving home. I really do think the previous reviewer was thinking of a different shop.

Great Service . . . I have to admit that the service from The Bike Shop in Centerville is Top Notch and wont break your bank. I have been biking (either bmx & mountain) for a few decades and have had several bikes that had needed service for all kinds of reasons. Anyway, most of the other shops I have used in the recent past overcharged and did not do the work any biker expects to be done when they drop off their bike. I am not sure if they dont know how to or were trying to cut corners to increase thier profitability?? However, either reason is unacceptable for me and has caused me to give all my business to The Bike Shop and to refer any business I can to them as well. They are decent guys who take pride in their work and respect your wallet!!! Should you want Top Notch Mechanics and an unbeatable price choose The Bike Shop or if you want mediocre bike service and pay thru the nose choose one of the chains. :)

When I came into the shop, I was practically begging to buy a bike, but the salesman was not helpful at all. I had to drag the information out of him that they had used bikes. Then, when I found a used mens bike for $100 he told me he had the same womens frame model in the back, and it would be ready for the same price in an hour. When I came back, he had jacked the price of both bikes up to $200. When my sister asked "Wasnt this bike $100 an hour ago?" he said, "No, you cant find a good bike for this price anywhere." Not only did he double the price in the time span of an hour, but it was also a heavy cheap bike to begin with. Maybe it was just this one guy, but I wouldnt give a swindler like that my money.

I checked out most of the shops in a 15 mile radius of George Mason, and I felt like these guys were by far the best. They seemed more knowledgeable, and more willing to help me than any one else. I walked into the store and there were 2 men working in the store. I had spoken with one on the phone earlier, and I was asking about more expensive bikes, and he actually recommended that I spend less money on my first bike. I really appreciated that he wasnt just after my money. The guy who I hadnt spoken with on the phone spent about 30 minutes answering questions and walking me around different bikes. He was extremely polite and great customer service. If your looking for a bike, Id recommend these guys.

My bike had a flat tire so I went on Craigslist to find somebody local to fix my bike. The guy on Craigslist wanted to charge me 30 bucks for coming out to fix my flat tire. Then I Googled a local bike shop to get it fixed. This shop was only 10 minutes from my house so I went there this morning. The owner was friendly and professional. He fixed my flat tire and made a few adjustments to my bike all for under 20 bucks. I was in and out of there in only 15 minutes. So I got my tire fixed and bike adjusted and it was cheaper than the guy on Craigslist. If I get another flat tire or any other problem with my bike I am going back to this shop, believe that!

Been coming here off and on for a few years. Always friendly, helpful and have really good prices. Im mostly a DIYer and these guys are helpful with any questions... the negatives listed here must have been flukes, because Ive never seen anything like that here and Ive been coming here for YEARS. I went to Spokes Inc. earlier and they gave me the wrong part after assurances it was the right one..... standard with anything else I guess. Avoid chains, support locally owned shops that typically offer superior service.

I came to this shop not knowing anything about bikes, but I wanted to get in to it. The salesman asked me a few questions about where/how I plan on riding and recommended a few bikes based on that. I ended up getting a nice Marin with front suspension! Very helpful guys and really a great experience. A few months later I brought my bike in for the initial service. It only took two days and I had my bike back working better than ever. Nice shop!

My experience with the Bike Shop has been great too! I bought a new Trek Fuel from them several years ago and have always been treated well when going back for any routine maintenance, parts or just to ask questions. I do a lot of my own bike maintenance but choose to go there whenever I need service that I cannot perform, as they have always done a great job for me! My latest was an overall tuneup and crank set repair and he had it done in 3 days!

WHAT A RIP OFF!!!! I brought three bikes in for routine service. When I went to pick them up nothing was done. The guy behind the counter claimed that the work was done and refused to give me my bikes back until I paid. Rather than fight with him I paid for it and left. I will never go back to this place. They are total scammers,
