My husband purchased my ring at one of Kay jewelers sister stores in MN. Once we moved to NY, I was told to take it for the bi-yearly inspection and cleaning (a service we paid for when we purchased the ring) to this store on 34th street. Ive taken it 3 times already and every time has been a total nightmare. When a ring gets inspected you need to check the serial number on your diamond to make sure you are getting your diamond back. When I ask to see that number, the girl huffed and puffed that i was making her do her job. Then she couldnt find the number so she said "I can see the number begins with..." she told me the three first numbers that are on every diamond at that store. I told her to read me all of the numbers and after 20 minutes of looking she finally found it. She gave me such an attitude! The second time I took it in, they took 2 months to clean it, something that takes the same day in virtually every other store. The third time, the center piece of my ring was bent and needed to get fixed. They told me at this store that this is how the ring was supposed to be because when the wedding band was added to it, it lifted the center piece. I told them that Id been wearing that ring for 4 years and that the bend was new because I knicked it on a table. Then they said they doubted that was even possible and that the jeweler couldnt fix it anyway out of fear that he would ruin it. The jeweler! It was so unbelievable I called the store I originally purchased it at in MN. They told me this was outrageous and that they would call to solve the issue. The store told them they wouldnt do it! So I had to ship my ring to MN, where the ring was fixed the same day (in 20 minutes actually) and then they shipped it back but I had to pick it up on 34th street. When I went in they asked for the inspection papers. I only had the original purchase papers because I had shipped everything together and was telling them that THEY had my inspection papers. They gave me such a hard time, photocopied my drivers license, went back and forth questioning me. They finally give me my ring and when I asked for the receipt they told me I couldnt have it because they didnt give duplicates and I had the original. I told them that wasnt possible because I HAD SHIPPED IT and when they shipped it back it went directly to the store. I left without a receipt and with such a headache for dealing with such uncooperative, condescending, and useless people. Lesson of the story: dont expect to get the services you paid for from this rathole! If you buy a piece here, good luck trying to get it cleaned and inspected in a timely, professional manner!

In the past Christmas they gave me as a gift a White 24" 10k Gold Rope Chain Necklace. Unfortunately it was too long for me so, I requested an exchange for the size that fitted me. Kay Jewelers does not carry White Gold 22" Necklaces (the size I needed it) forcing me to either cut it, keep it, or choose another type of material that will match the cross that also was part of the gift (only silver will somehow...match...). The store manager didnt let seller or me return the chain to get my money back and go somewhere else; leaving me no choice but to cut it down to the size I wanted. Furthermore, when I pick the chain they did a horrible job turning the White Gold onto yellow (due to excessive use of Rhodium...they said...). I waited again for another 2-3 long weeks so they could clean or repair this mess they did with my chain (from original purchase Im talking it was now the 7th month of dealing with the chain). Two days ago June 10th, 2017 I went to pick up the supposedly final repair (everything was hopefully good...). Well, yellow stains are gone (hallelujah..), I get home to put the cross on the chain and the chain breaks... Today Monday June 11th, 2017 I gave up and again since I cannot get my money back (they never gave me the option to get my money back in any case...) Im going to their other store in Queens (again...only option Customer Care is giving me...) Hopefully they can do a good job and I can finally enjoy my gift. I highly discourage anyone from buying in this store until at least they change management. In any case, if you check their reviews, you wont find good stuff anywhere in the web about them...(1.5 stars in yelp, 3.1 stars in google...) my mother doesnt know much about the internet so, I cannot blame her for choosing them. But, you can!

it started in the galleria mall Cheektowaga NY: out good the service when we talked about repairing my wifes wedding ring the girl said they would estimate the repair first, before any work was done. so we left it i ll be honest we dont shop at jewelry stores allot but we never expected what we saw when we picked the ring up. they called us with a large estimate to have the diamond reset and the ring was wore at the bottom thin but due to the cost of both repairs we chose to set the diamond only . when we picked up the ring they set the diamond and also round the ring so they said we didnt want the bottom of the ring touched and they grounded the top of the ring , we called them and the assistant manger they told me they talked to the shop that did the repair they said they they away round a ring MY QUESTION WAS WERE IS THE GOLD THEY GROUND OFF THE RING .WITH GOLD AT AN ALL TIME HIGH. THEY WRECK THE RING AND NOW THEY WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH IT .....BEWARE DONT SHOP HERE I AM SORRY I PAID WITH CASH BECAUSE IF IT WAS A CARD I WOULD HAVE SOMEONE TO FIGHT WITH ME NOW I AM BEAT OUT OF SOME HARD EARNED CASH

hello kay does not have a special thing for their customer on their birthday and some items dont stand up to being good quality and because of this I brought an item and loss the item within the same week for my birthday and the store does not have a policy for their good customers on this matter. I feel as if they should have a way a customer could return for a discount if they are willing to purchase another item and not feel as if they are giving money away when they have proven to be a good customer. I also, feel as if the store doesnt care at all so this doesnt motivate me to buy from them or have anyone I know to buy either. pass the word.

The sales associates were extremely pretentious and deliberately unhelpful. I came in looking to spend about $200. I know they frown upon not spending a fortune, so I didnt want to bother with the employees. I tried to look through the display cases unaccompanied, but they insisted a few times so I allowed one woman to "help". I had already seen several items in my price range, but she acted like it was unheard of to spend that little. After presenting me a few items far above my stated limit, she said she was "sorry" she couldnt help me and ended the interaction. I ended up just leaving without buying anything.
