I used to shop at Meijer all the time, whether its grocery shopping for a week, some small item Im missing for dinner or home decor. Ever since they closed Jewel, which used to be just across the street, the quality of pretty much everything went downhill. Before, I would just pick up produce almost without looking and choosing; now I literally have to dig through fruit and vegetables to find something not rotten or spoiled. A few weeks ago I bought Meijer brand pizza, which was sealed with a fly inside! Next day I was "lucky" to pick up Meijer brand oven roasted turkey that was supposed to be good for another two weeks, but when I opened it next morning, all the meat was slimy, even though I made sure it was vacuum sealed when I purchased it. When I tried to return it the next day, not only girls in the customer service were rude because I didn’t have my receipt (even though according to the expiration date on the package it was supposed to remain fresh for at least two more weeks), they didn’t want to take back, until I pointed out the sigh right above their heads, that milk, meat, and all products that have Meijer brand name on them can be returned with or without receipt. Two days ago I bought one of those tiny watermelons. When I cut it open, it was all spoiled inside and looked like it was frozen before and bruised as if someone had played soccer with it. Yesterday I got the tomatoes (the ones that are sealed in a plastic bag), which I looked at carefully, but when I got home every single one was rotten right where they were touching each other, so there was no way for me to see while in the store, but whoever rotates the produce on the shelves, must know how long tomatoes are supposed to be out there before they go bad. One of my friends used to buy shoes and clothes for her little daughter, because they would always have good quality and nice natural fabrics, like cotton. Not any more; now all P.J.’s and little dresses for kids are synthetic and horrible looking. From now on I only shop at Jewel or other stores I can find on my way from work. I hope this review will have one the people in charge of quality control do something to change mine and my friends’ attitude. I will give Meijer another try in a few weeks, and hopefully something will have changed, but for now its doors are “closed” to me, I am very disappointed!

Great grocery selections at fair prices. Im a night owl, so being able to go grocery shopping at 2 am is something I could not be more grateful for. The neighboring subdivision appears to be affluent, to wit, Ive never felt unsafe at this location at any time of day. Their produce selection is great compared to other chains Ive visited in the area. I imagine theyre a bit pricier than places like Aldi, but the quality and availability is well worth it. (Unless youre shopping for kale, theyre almost always out of it.) The parking lot is huge so finding a spot is rarely troublesome (especially at 2am). I once tried to accommodate the diet of a girl I was dating who had Crohns disease and this was my go-to spot for all things gluten free as well as many other hard-to-find(-for-cheap) items that were specific to her regimen. The aisles are spacious and always clean, the staff is helpful and friendly, and the lines werent terribly long on the few occasions Ive been there during the day. I havent been in many of the other departments of this store in a while so I cant say anything for certain about them except that its incredibly convenient to have an amalgamation of so many good and services within one shopping location. Oh, and their craft beer selection is impressive, too. Ive been using a 3rd party app which allows shoppers to get cash back on select purchases at this retailer and others which is pretty neat. I also recently downloaded and setup mPerks which is a similar app exclusively for Meijer locations and it looks promising as well. As a teenager I was dubious about the barbershop inside this store, but Js Barbershop employs one of the *best* barbers in Northwest Indiana, named Jordan L. If you want a polished look be sure to see Jordan for a slick cut and smooth shave. The entire staff at Js is friendly and fun to be around. There are other services near the entrance of the store but the only one I can currently recall is the pretzel place which is tasty and goes well with a craft beer after a long day of shopping and manpering.

I originally really liked Meijer when they first opened. Yet, today I had the worst experience! I worked for years in customer service and know what its like to have a bad day. So I can excuse someone who is not on their game or having an off day. I cannot, however, excuse an entire store. My husband and I ran in for one specific item that we were unsure of where it would be located. Their greeter welcomed us warmly and offered us a sale flier. He was very kind and courteous. We looked around for a bit but were unable to locate the item. We saw an associate stocking some shelves and asked where our item would be located. She replied, "Huh?! Yeah, I dont know." (I figured it was an off day.) We looked around a little more and then asked another associate. "I dont know. Thats not my department." (Really? You can call on your walkie talkie and ask?) Next associate smiles, points across the store and says, "Its over there!" We go to where she directed us but it was to no avail. We decide we are just going to go to Customer Service and they can look it up. My husband cant afford to do much more walking because he has a heart problem. On the way to customer service, I bring the item up on their app so I can show them what I need. The young man looks at my phone, teies to get my phone to tell location but is unable and calls someone for assistance. After a brief conversation, he sends us to the other end of the store. We go to where we were instructed but to no avail. Finally, fed up, we put back our cart and left. That was the worst customer service I have ever known a store to provide!!! They need to retrain all their employees on what it means to provide customer service. I am so disappointed!!!

Well first off they have almost anything you need but some of it is really overpriced Ive been here maybe a dozen times and I have run into really rude employees who are not willing to help you whatsoever and at checkout there is about 30 lanes but never more than 2 cashiers even if the lines have 10 or more people in them and twice we saw four or five other employees standing near and talking about how they dont get paid enough for that kind of drama of running the register and above all else never try to use the restrooms here it stinks and it appears that no one has ever cleaned them since the place opened I went with my son in there once and there was feces on the floor by the urinal went back 3 days later it was still there!
