Sat 6/26/2010 No sooner then I swiped my credit card, the vehicle shut off and did not start again. They stated that it must be out of gas, they put gas in the vehicle. DID NOT START!! Hooked the car up to jumper cables! CAR DID NOT START!! According to this weak "Sellers Gurantee that they advertise, You should be able to bring the car back within 24 hours if somethig goes wrong with it! I NEVER DROVE OFF THE LOT!!!! They stated they would have their mechanic look at it, and if they didnt fix it, they would put me in another vehicle at the same or lesser value. Get a call Monday 6/28/2010 morning, mechanic tells me that he will fix the Fuel Pump which happened to go out right after I pay for the vehicle, and it will cost me... I stated NO, Im not paying for that. Then Melanie, the so-called partner/manager of the auction calls me and says fuel pumps are not covered under the seller guarantee. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS CRAP!!! According to my paper work, it does not state what is covered and what is not covered.you should be able to bring the car right back!!! So basically, she just made that up off the top of her head!!! She said she would cover the labor of the fuel pump but not the pump itself! That I would have to pay $194. I said you have lost your mind, if you think I am paying for repairs on something I didnt even drive off the lost. She said "well the car is yours" and hung up the phone on me! VERY UN-PROFESSIONAL. Complaints have been filed! and an attorney has been called. DO NOT PURCHASE A VEHILCE FROM THIS PLACE!!! RIP OFF!!! ****UPDATE**** 7/3/2010 According to the attorney I was talking to, I was responsible for paying for the fuel pump since I did buy the vehicle AS IS! OK, I had to suck it up and pay for it! Melanie stated that I had to take this post off of the Google website before she would pay for the labor! Sure Ill take it off, but as you can see, its reposted. Because as soon as I get home, the car starts to make a lot of noise, THEN!!! guess what happens??? The entire exhaust pipe falls from the bottom of the car!!! So there is another $200 I have to pay to get this fixed. My mechanic, asked me where did I get this vehicle, I said Chicago Car Auction, he said OH NO, I would never go there! You dont know about them?? I said I do now!! What an experience! WORST PLACE EVER. FIND ANOTHER AUCTION!! DONT GO TO THIS ONE!!!

Chicago Car Auction is second to none in both ownership, and business excellence. I have sold and purchased at this auction and have been pleasantly surprised each and every time. My last experience here is a perfect example. Phil Kuhn, founder and CEO, promised me a certain amount for the 5-series BMW I was selling. Because I trust Phil, I really didnt pay much attention to the auction, and before I knew it the car had sold for significantly more than what was promised to me. Who wouldnt be pleased with that outcome!? It is a shame that ignorant people come on here and tarnish this business reputation. If you are going to go to a public auction to buy or sell automobiles, you better have read the contract and have a very strong understanding of what you are getting yourself into. This auction is as fair as it gets. Owned and operated by very honest professionals. For the purpose that it serves, which is to offer cheap used cars at a price that anyone can afford, or to sell the same type of cars HASSLE FREE, Chicago Car Auction has no competition. They go above and beyond to satisfy customers, buyers and sellers alike. If you have a used car that you are looking to get rid of, I recommend you take it to Phil, he wont let you down. The same goes for buyers. If you are in need of a reliable, but used car anywhere from $500 to $10,000, Chicago Car Auction is the place to go. Good luck and thanks Phil!

This place RIPPED ME OFF; everything about the car I bought was a lie! Dont buy from this place! They sold me a Ferrari and once it got to me there was no oil in the engine, and not even 5 minutes the car had lots of white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipes. The Valve cover gaskets were leaking; the electric top motor was not working, needs new timing chain along with timing tensioners and needed major service to be fixed along with having the engine dropped out of the car. The estimate for the repair is around $10,000-$15,000. They claimed that the vehicle was in working condition and owned by a private collector, and in his museum. However it was really owned by their company and the title has been in there name the whole time. I thought I was getting a nice Ferrari, but was defrauded! You should not buy from Chicago Car Auction or Philip Kuhn! Be careful when buying from them so you wont get ripped off like I did.

I have in several years past purchased several cars from this auction. BE VERY CAREFUL!!! Often they know more about the car than they are letting on. I have observed workers bidding on cars (which is illegal) to raise the bid price. I have more recently watched the bidding online from home. Most of cars 75% I would say, do NOT sell during the auction. The auction has become nothing more than a front for car sales. They announce that if you still want a car that you did not "win" during the auction you can approach them to buy it. A specific auction used to be held for donated cars. Now they mix them together and you dont know whether the car is donated or not. A key to this is if the car is "owner guaranteed" then it is NOT a donated car and they want a minimum bid for it. BUYER BEWARE. Most bargains are no longer possible which is why I havent purchased a car there for 5 years.

If you dont have enough time to view the cars before the auction, dont bother. They play favorites during the auction. For example, I tried to bid on a van for $200 but was "too late" but someone else was able to bid on a Mazda for $2000 even though it had already pulled out just like the van. Oh but they knew the bidder and it was more money bid, so thats why Im sure. Bid on a car for $700, ended up having to pay out $1200. No 24 money back gaurantee, like you would expect. Some of the people working on the bidding floor were rude. Since this is also a dealership, they are con artists just like any other used car place.

I have purchased two Trucks from here. The first a year ago was a very high mileage vehicle (mechanically sound though), but the price was very low. In other word a great deal. The second Truck is a very nice vehicle in excellent shape, the price was literally half of what the vehicle is selling for on other lots. I had a great experience with both purchases and would recommend anyone to buy here. The deals I got were a great price for good vehicle. Know what you want and what you will pay for it and you will be happy with this dealer.
