Milwaukee Public Market is exactly the type of thing Milwaukee needs more of. It is a great space that seems to have really gained popularity. Early in its existence the market was sparsely attended at times (at least the times I was there). The last time I was there (May 2015) it was packed on a Sunday morning. What a great thing for the city! All of the vendor stalls were full. All types of food and drink were represented. You can get everything from sweets to wine to coffee to seafood. I really like how there are different spaces meant for different uses. Most people leisurely stroll around the market but there are spots to sit and people-watch, either at cafe tables or bar stools. The Milwaukee Public Market is as good or better than the public markets in other U.S. cities. Milwaukee should be proud. I only wish it were bigger!

When in Milwaukee - do as they do! This market has some great offerings - from the famous cheese selections (tastings available), to different grab and go eateries (thai, pizza, sandwiches, soups, etc.) We also found chocolate and ice cream vendors that were very friendly and let us try a lot of different options to our hearts content. The market really is a great way to experience the Milwaukee food scene all in one area. Theres an upstairs mainly for seating (and people watching obviously), while the downstairs houses all the food action. As far as access is concerned, there is parking available onsite (and it can be validated inside) for ease. Inside, its kept very clean and open so theres ample space to meander around. You can definitely spend a whole day here exploring and eating along the way. Happy hunting and bring your appetite!

The sign on top of the building is like Seattles market, but its teeny inside (I guess as Seattle:Milaukee, which makes sense). There is basically one of each type of thing youd expect in a touristy market--fish place, Wisconsin jarred goods, artisanal olive oil, coffee, juice, frozen custard. There are a couple of sandwich places. The prepared seafood is the most impressive part, with a full seating area and serving lobster rolls, oysters, and the like. The lobster roll was made fresh and was substantial and on nice thick bread, maybe Texas toast. My friend said it lobster roll was okay, although too mayoey. Theres a parking lot with tickets you can get validated. The market is conveniently located in a historic neighborhood and a couple of blocks back from the river, near the Milwaukee Ale House.

Parking here was a breeze especially impressive for a busy holiday. My friend and I visited a few weeks ago and where delighted by the variety of food stalls and vendors. The space is quite large. The busteling atmosphere is electric here. You can find arts and crafts as well as food from around the world. We where particularly impressed with the fish market, the vegetarian place opposite the wine bar and the wine bar itself. We wound up eating our vegetarian meal made of smoked tempeh salad and vegetarian goat cheese Panini at the wine bar and the manager there was kind enough to suggest wine flights to go with our food. Well be back.

This place is neat - located in the heart of Milwaukee, this market offers a variety of food and local items to purchase and experience. You can get a pretty cheap lobster entree here, or stop by the cheese shop for the best Wisconsin cheeses. There are also specialty meat shops and a spice shop. Theres a little bit of everything for everyone here. Once you decide on a few things to get, there is some seating at the upper level where you can enjoy your food with a view or people watch. Yes, its overpriced but you couldve guessed that from a downtown market. There is paid parking onsite or you can try and find street parking.

If one wants a friendly hospitable environment to eat, professional experienced staff and management who knows what is required to retain and satisfy customers...furthermore, most importantly, food that is undeniably fresh and prepared by qualified (no chefs) cooks......DO NOT eat at the Public Market - especially MARGARITA PARADISE MEXICAN RESTAURANT. This joints (WHICH IS NOT PARADISE) food is not fresh, poor service and management is vulgar, obscene and unprofessional!!! If LOCALS suggest eating at this location, which may have been a hit a decade ago, DO NOT...DO NOT listen!!!!!

The Milwaukee Public Market is a historic Marketplace that has now been converted into a fancy restaurant and specialty food shopping area. There are no groceries or Farmers Market type thing here. There are very nice eating establishments with lovely old-time atmosphere. We just had a group dinner upstairs here and this facility was absolutely fabulous for a group dining event! The acoustics are decent and the views are wonderful all around this place. The historic district that this is located in is a nice part of town that is being gentrified with lots of restaurants also.

The public market is a fantastic place, especially if youre into food. The recent addition of the Nerings market, which sells fresh produce, means that you can now hit the public market for everything you need to make a great meal. Some of my personal favorites at the market: St. Paul Fish Company for the $13 lobster dinner, 2 for 1 oysters (I think thats on Tuesday), and Smoked Salmon (fyi, stay away from the fish on special, though); The bargain bin at Thief Wine company has great wines for under $10; Bulk Spices from The Spice House.

Milwaukee Public Market is one of my favorite places in Milwaukee. It is a must see if you are visiting Milwaukee for the first time. There is a great variation of shops (coffee, wine, spices, olive oil, healthy sandwiches, fresh fish, etc). The second floor space is very open and contains beautiful natural lighting. The second floor overlooks the main floor shops. Highly recommend grabbing a bite to eat here or just walking through to see all of the wonderful things that the Milwaukee Public Market has to offer!

Go here at least once a month for good reason. If you want it, have a craving for it, or have never tried it, whatever it is someone has it here. With a dozen different shops within the market everyone has something worth trying. The lunch and sushi specials at Thai-namite are fantastic, the paninis at the home style market are delicious (try the Cuban!), the fresh juices are a must and Thief Wine will take care of all your drinking needs. Theres so much more here to try beyond that. A must visit!

Established vendors, good to great food, fun ambiance, clean bathrooms, parking and overall fair prices make for an enjoyable relaxing experience for all ages and groups. Even if you are on a budget you can walk around and go sit in mezzanine eat your bag lunch. If you are a gourmet, vegetarian, or picky theres enough to eat. Watcha out for peak times, parking gets tight, allies fill up and wait times for seating can rise, so make note and go with plenty of time.
