I shop here almost every day. I have also worked 4 years at a grocery store. This is a well run store. But I do have a few complaints. The parking lot set up sucks because of the angled parking. Not enough cart corrals. The entrance to the parking lot on 13th street is too narrow. The front store entrance is also too narrow. Every time I go, I cannot walk straight in. I usually have to wait for some one coming out. This might even be a safety concern. The hot food deli items are not the best. At times it seems the food is reheated from previous days. The store desperatly needs a revamp. Specially in the dairy dept. The coolers and bunkers are old. Besides those concerns I will still shop here because its convinient location as i have for 30yrs+

They have a small sign at the entrance that backpacks are not allowed in the store. I could not possibly read it on my way in and had an unpleasant encounter with armed security guard in the middle of my shopping. My suggestion to the owners of the store: 1. Put a bigger sign, not a small paper on the door 2. If you dont want people with backpacks to come than stop them BEFORE they enter the store, not when they are in the middle of the shopping 3. Make lockers at the entrance where people could lock their stuff. Also while we were staying in the line at the cashier she just left her place and walked away right before us. She did not say anything and just ignored that our stuff was already on the belt.

I feel like Im being profiled every time I go into this store with their unprofessional security guards standing at the door. My money is just as green as anyone elses. I like to carry a messenger bag since I am a busy professional and that requires me to carry things around with me. I will not leave it at the front of the store with a stranger just because you guys cant do a good job at deterring theft. I also dont appreciate the lazy security just standing around until I come in and they try to follow me around like I dont see them. Maybe spend some money on a decent theft monitoring system. I like to support smaller stores but you made me feel uncomfortable so Ill just go somewhere else.

This place is horrible the food is over priced and the people are racist, who ever isnt Hispanic is considered a potential theif! Many a times I was watched closely by employees and security with one confrontation with an security guard who requested a receipt from me right after he saw me pay! He would not even let me leave! I am a young Hispanic girl and my Spanish isnt so great and my skin is a bit pale but that doesnt give you the right to treat customers like that! I would not ever go back to El Ray again!

Neighborhood store with a nice exterior but when you walk through the doors its like walking into the 70s. The store inside needs to be updated bad. Also if you dont speak Spanish you might not be able to communicate with anyone who works there. They have a nice selection of Mexican groceries. Also I would avoid the meat it looks like the cleanliness of the cutting area might make you sick along with the age of the meat. Other than that if you want some Mexican food for decent prices try it out.

Exceptional bakery, deli, (try the Chicken Salad) A large hot food selection. The produce selection is good. (Green Banana is a great substitute for potatoes. Not to be confused with regular bananas that are not ripe. The meat department covers a wide variety of needs. The seafood selection is large and good quality. The employees are helpful. This is a locally owned establishment.

Its so convenient. El Rey FoodMart cash work checks in a snap. If your a first timer you will have to get verified by the manager and get put in their system. Takes like 3 mins. No biggy. Plus they are waaaaay cheaper than most check cashing places in Milwaukee. Oh and their food is delish! They have hot and ready foods, desserts, and a deli. Great for birthday shopping also.

Contains an incredible selection of ethnic Latino foods and produce at this supermarket. The bakery and take out prepared food options are many. The area appears slightly sketchy but Ive never had a bad experience here and have always felt relatively safe. Parking is a little stuffy as there are a lot of come and go customers.

Food is expired!!!!!!!! Check the dates before you buy! Save ur receipt!!!!!! Made 120 tamales and realized they had a funny taste!!! The last thing we thought was the Mazeca we bought!!!! Expired since 2014!!!!!! I called and all the manager could say was im sorry! Never going here again!!!!! Disgusting!!!!!

If you pay ur bill here., it will take 3-5 business days to get it to the entity that u are paying the bill for.....like me you may end up w ur cable, lights, gas, etc. off. As they are a 3rd party vendor...u will get little help if any once u give them ur money.....

El Ray has a good selection and a lot of items that arent available at the grocery stores around my house. Food prices are so-so but still worth it, where their regular grocery items are priced very well.

Best place for produce in MKE. Extensive selection of many healthy and fruits and vegetables. Not sure if there are organic options. The discounted items wrapped in deli trays are the ultimate deal.
