I have shopped at this Fred Meyer location for years. For the most part my experiences have been positive. There are a couple checkers that if given a choice I will not go to them for a variety of reasons. Last evening there were only 2 regular lanes open. I chose the one with the checker who I knew to be efficient and friendly. Unfortunately after Id already placed my items on the conveyor belt, someone else took over for her...specifically, Lisa. She is one of the 2 checkers I would never choose to go to. There were literally lines at both lanes going down aisles and Lisa took her sweet time getting ready to check out the person in front of me. She appeared to not have any awareness of the lines and was visiting with the person she was checking out and taking longer than usual. A woman behind me and I began discussing our long days and how we just wanted to get home. I even asked one of the lane coordinators if they had several people call in or something as they usually dont have lines like that. Apparently I was overheard by the checker and she took offense as she began to passive aggressively stare me down and she began to take even longer checking out the person in front of me. At one point I exclaimed to no one in particular, "Oh, come on!". Lisa continued to stare me down as she slowly folded items and placed them bags for the person in front of me. When it finally became my turn she did not utter one word to me. She packed items in bags haphazardly; chips with milk, cosmetics with meat, etc. She literally THREW things into the cart; some without a bag. I did not say a word because I figured I would just go to Customer Service afterward to complain. When I approached Customer Service and asked how I could complain, I was given a blank stare so I informed the person that checker on lane #4 needed to "go home, stay home and never come back". I made it very clear that Ive never experienced such rudeness and complete lack of professionalism at this store. Upon leaving the store, I ran into someone who had moved my the line I was in to another. We discussed the checker and both admitted to not willingly ever choosing her lane. It appears we both have experienced her in the past. Thats 2 people.....I can bet there are many more! I encourage this location to take a long look at this employees attitude, lack of professionalism as well as her wild hair down to her knees that she flips and runs her hands through and then touches items being purchased. That just cannot be considered sanitary. I realize Fred Meyer is part of a Union so if this person has any tenure she is using it to her advantage and probably doesnt care about anyone but herself. But if she doesnt have tenure, Id highly recommend she be given the boot.

This review is only on the Electronics Department of the store. I went in to look at laptops and netbooks. I asked the Sales Associate if they had any. She rudely said that at that certain Fred Meyers they do not usually carry laptops and rarely carry netbooks, unless they are on "special". Acting as though I should have known that fact already. She said they did have tablets there for sale. When she did offer up that they had tablets there for sale she did not quickly walk over towards the tablets and it made me feel as though she thought I was just a "window shopper", or like I didnt have much money. So I said no thank you. Between the rudeness and that it just made me feel horrible. I had $500 in cash and more available on my debit card when I went into Fred Meyers to look for a laptop or netbook and she sent the message that I was stupid for not knowing they dont carry laptops or netbooks there unless on special and like I was broke. Maybe she is just rude like that to everyone. I would hope she isnt rude like that to everyone because that is horrible. Regardless she was rude and that is what turned me away from wanting to shop there. So I went to Kmart and bought a netbook. I had extremely great Customer Service from the Sales Associate. I will avoid shopping for anything at this specific Fred Meyer Electronics Department, I will bring my business instead to other Fred Meyers Electronic Department and stores such as Kmart. Where I know they are nice and provide great Customer Service. I will continue to shop at Fred Meyers for other things and as I stated before this review is simply on this specific Fred Meyers Electronic Department. I just wish I had looked at her name tag. I was just so surprised at how I was treated I didnt think about looking at it, I just wanted to leave. The other Fred Meyers off of 19th Street in Tacoma Electronic Department is excellent and I will shop at that specific Electronics Department again. If you are wondering why I did not go to the other Fred Meyers Electronic Department off of 19th Street in Tacoma it is because I was worried if I said something about how I had just been treated at this specific store that it would cause an issue since all of the workers tend to band together/stick together in companies. So I felt it was best to go to a completely different store. So the Sales Associates rudeness at this specific store cost another one of the stores a sale. Sad but true. I just hope that no one else goes into this specific Fred Meyers Electronic Department asking the same question I did. Heaven forbid customers not know the 4-1-1 on everything.

I didnt really like Fred Meyer because of the small quantity items (laundry pods, dryer sheets, etc) for a higher price than bigger quantity items at Walmart for less. To me, you waste a lot of money at this place for these kind of items. It is well worth it to go fives minutes farther to get things at Walmart (depending on where you live). Otherwise this establishment is very nice and the staff are very friendly. Ive never had an issue with anything here, the few times I have been here.

I like it because its a million times better than walmart! It has groceries and everything else you might need in 1 place. It has a garden center, hardware, camping stuff, and clothes. What more could you ask for. The sale prices are great and you dont have to have their card to get sale prices. What you get with their savings card is money back.

Horrible employees. Hitting customers with carts and not even apologising. My GFs hand was wedged between two carts when an employee who was on cart coral duty pushed a load of carts in. Another was an arrogant cashier who thinks she knew better and would rather argue than correct a situation had to get management involved in both incidences.

This is one of the nicer Fred Meyers in Tacoma. The deli is larger than most and it is more recently updated. It is better lit and laid out than most FMs in the area. They also carry more "gourmet" and natural food products than other local FMs. There are certain drinks, cheeses and magazines I can get here I cant get at other area FMs.
