Edit. We had a really bad experience here that made me change my review and stop coming here. My wife ordered a coffee and sat down while it was being made. No one else ordered, and a few minutes later a coffee was sitting on the counter. She went up to ask if it was hers, but the barista and (we found out later) the owner were talking so didnt acknowledge her. She assumed it was hers since they didnt say anything so she grabbed it. About 30 seconds later, the owner stormed over to us and yelled "did you take that coffee?". I said yes and he said "that was mine". I said we didnt realize it was the wrong one and he said "fine, just keep it" and stormed back to the counter. We brought it back up and told him that she couldnt drink it anyway because my wife cant have milk. It was embarrassing for us because everyone in the shop was watching as he accused us of stealing his coffee. After we sent an email explaining what happened to management. We received a reply from the owner who just gave us a coupon. Since the issue was with the owner, it would have been nice to at least sent an apology. We havent been back since. There are so many incredible small businesses in Tacoma who deserve support, and this one is no longer on that list for us. Here was my review before this incident: "My wife and I like coming here to share a coffee and some pastries. Very friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere."

Overall this place is a so-so. Despite that, the food wasnt actually bad and the coffee was in fact good. Some of the factors did however affect my decision of giving this place a 2-star review. This place lost a star for being dirty, the tables werent clean, chairs had food in them, and the floors werent pleasant to look at. Ironically the bathroom seemed cleaner than the tables and the floor in the café itself. They lost another star for a very slow service. Nobody was in line and when I placed my order to get a panini it took them over 20 min to deliver. There were 4 people working there and yet it took them that long?! Are you kidding me? How is this business even running like that? What happens when it is extremely busy there I cant even imagine. Despite those things that were unpleasant, coffee and the panini was good. However, will I go there again or recommend this place? Probably not.

Food was good but as soon as I get to the counter these chicks who think they live in Portland could tell I wasnt from the area and said nothing to me until I politely mention we just moved in the area. Still rude. Food was so expensive and when I tried to compliment my food to our "server" or whatever she said "oh" and scurried away from the table. Not to mention it was dirty and I dont see how having all these dogs inside is hygienic in anyway. Lame rude place. Guess what guys youre in pierce county. Not portlandia. Never coming back.

Excellent local coffee house shows you why the NW is coffee hq!!! Madrona roasters is used here - a high quality and fairly unique small company. Nice selection of food and snacks as well. Locally owned and proud to support other local businesses. Lots of seating. Kid friendly. Open later than a lot of places in Tacoma. Great place that I am proud to say represents my neighborhood!!

First time here, ordered a coffee and had another customer take it when my name was called. Management realized he had taken my coffee on accident, gave him both coffees and gave me mine 10 minutes later. It appeared the manager was friends with this man. Great coffee but no apology! Fairly poor customer service for a newcomer. Dont think Ill go back!

My favorite Tacoma coffee shop! The staff, atmosphere, coffee, and eats are all on point. The local art for sale that lines the walls is always impeccable. I would give 6 stars if I could. This is always my choice location for meeting clients.

This place has a calming atmosphere. You can come in the morning for a quiet cup of coffee. You can come in the evening and play tons of games, read a book, and grab some food. The Chicken Pesto Panini is the best thing there.

Very welcoming and friendly staff and a nice environment for studying or just hanging out. I love to come here for some locally roasted coffee and a Northender. I must say, the avocado toast is a must-have as well!

Favorite Coffee shop, fairly new although the quality of the coffee is excellent compared to nearby stores. Owner is friendly and so are baristas. They also have hemp milk which is a hundred thumbs up!!!

Great little cafe, a somewhat tucked away treasure of Tacoma. The sandwiches are fantastic and the tea will keep you coming back. Service was very friendly and the pricing was fair.

Cheerful and welcoming coffee shop with paninis, hot dogs, and pastries will serve up some great espresso. Their Tacoma Fog (a calming take on the famous London Fog) is lovely.

This cafe becomes a daycare center around lunch time. All the moms from the yoga place nearby bring their kids here. If youre looking for a place to relax go somewhere else.
