(My letter to corporate) To whom it may concern: At 12:58pm on 9/2/15, I had the misfortune of witnessing two cashiers-in-training be verbally berated, humiliated, and so poorly treated by the training-supervisor, Kathy, that I actually stopped to take notes. It was the most astounding display of unprofessionalism I have ever seen, and Fred Meyer employees both new and old ought NEVER be subject to such abusive and cruel humiliation, particularly in front of several customers. On this date, a cashier-in-training named ---- was ringing up a customers purchase when there was a problem with a coupon. ------ tried her best to figure it out, but called Kathy, the trainer, over for help. Not only did Kathy treat ------- like she was an idiot, she was condescending, cruel, and spoke to ---- like she was a dog (Look up! Look up! Whats wrong with you! What do you think the screen says! If you cant do this "basic stuff" youre not going to make it here, you know.") It was so rude that -----s hands started to visibly shake and her eyes welled up with tears. As it turned out, the coupon error was NOT ------s fault but an error with the barcode that needed an override. Kathy, then proceeded to override the 10% off coupon and gave the customer 50% off her purchase, citing "issues with the cashier" as the reason for the large discount. I could see -------- visibly blush out of humiliation. The cashier-in-training in the next lane, named ------, then asked Kathy for help when she had a moment. Kathy made a ridiculous display of frustration, rolled her eyes, and said, "Oh my god, are you serious? You cant even do this? What does the SCREEN SAY. JUST READ IT." Note: there are three or more customers in each lane who are all witnessing Kathy disparage and embarrass these two cashiers in training. When it was my turn to check out, ----- was visibly upset and trying hard to maintain her composure. It was obvious she did not want to "bad mouth" the training supervisor to me but said that the stress of Kathys demeanor and comments makes it hard for her to concentrate, resulting in more errors and thus more demeaning and insulting comments from the woman training her. I did not speak to -------, but certainly heard enough to know that this is a systemic problem with Kathy as a supervisor, and in no way should this woman ever be allowed to train cashiers. It astonishes me that she chose a career in customer service when she clearly is unable to control her temper and her mouth in a professional manner. I have already contacted Kevin, the manager on duty, and will continue to contact anyone necessary to see that the new employees of Fred Meyer are treated with respect and dignity both in front of customers and privately. What I witnessed today was ethically and professionally reprehensible and needs to cease immediately before Fred Meyer finds itself slapped with an ugly lawsuit over hostile work environment. I truly hope Fred Meyer takes appropriate action. Thank you for your time, and I request to be contacted by a corporate officer to further discuss the matter. Sincerely, A. Concerned Customer.

I recently (September 11th, 2015) moved away from Sumner to Gig Harbor. If there is anything I miss about Sumner it is Fred Meyer. The employees are friendly and always accommodating. I cant think of a time where I walked out upset or dissatisfied. The store has wide isles making it easy to get around and the employees always have a smile. When i am in Puyallup/Sumner I make it a point to go back and shop -- Love you guys. I cannot say the same about the Fred Meyer in Gig Harbor, where I now live. It is a terrible store. The employees are, for the most part, rude and grumpy; they constantly ignore you and snip at each other in front of customers -- I think the management at Gig Harbor should go to Sumner and take some classes on how to run a store. This poor quality store may be because they know they have everyone by the you know what -- Fred Meyer is currently the only supermarket in the area. Cant wait until the QFC gets done or Safeway moves back in.

BEST Bakery & Produce Departments including Organic Produce. OUTSTANDING MEAT DEPARTMENT & Overall Grocery selection is unmatched even at other Fred Meyer Stores. Hardware, furnishings, clothing, electronic and Jewelry Departments are additional features making this store the one worth driving to. They are well staffed to help as well as keep you on time getting out the door. Hot food? GAS? The best of everything.

I live next to the garden center. I cant get any sleep because they run their fork lift which beep and begins at 6 am then starts back up at nite and lasts well after 10 pm. They park on the street behind and I almost get hit because I cant see around the cars. Then when I call to speak to someone about it I am placed on hold for over 5 mins and asked to call back when the manager is in?! Ridiculous!

!!!! Just saw $25 snow shovel in the front of store. Good shovels start at $8 and go to $15 very disappointed. Shop around check my pictures. Otherwise this is my favorite Freds! Store now sells Boarshead. Puyallup has called this store for me several times when they had run out of an item and Sumner has always put the item aside for me to purchase when I drove over to the store.

I go here often, and i love the improvements to the place. However, ever since the improvements, for whatever reason they never have anything at the deli. 6 times - in a row - ive gone at different times and asked for the chicken strip meal, they either never have any, or tell me to wait 15 minutes, and 15 minutes later its another 10 minutes. What the hell are they doing?

I prefer the FM location in Bonney Lake. Parking at the Sumner location is a nightmare...I will shop here if I am in Sumner and can save a stop by picking a few things up at this location, but if I have a choice I would choose one of the other local stores. In short, I dont avoid the Sumner Store but it is not my favorite.

I have been going here for many years since I was a little kid in elementary to a 22 year old adult now. The service has always been excellent and easy to maneuver the store and find what you want. The worst department is the electronics customer service there but, that doesnt ruin the atmosphere of the store.

This is becoming a favorite place for us to get groceries. One thing that impresses me is that there is free fruit for children in the produce section. This keeps our kiddos occupied for a while. I like the selection of food and other items. Basically, this is like a Wal-Mart or Target but better.

Staff is always nice. I do wish they would offer more greetings. That being said once engaged I have always had a great experience. Produce is way better than at Winco down the road. Kinda that, you get what you pay for thing. That being said they send us coupons and we get great gas discounts.
